Ques re Kit Editing PES5 from Option file

I know that the PESFan option file (5.3) editor allows you to import a kit from another option file. I also know that licensed teams' kits cannot be edited using the in-game editor. (The PESFan editor for PES4 did allow for editing of all kits, even licensed teams.)

Here's my question:

If I wanted to replace a licensed team with a different team (example: replacing Ascoli from Italy with say a team called Napoli), since I cannot edit the kit of a licensed team in-game (please assume I don't want to deal with patches), would it work if I edit the kit of a non-licensed team, save an option file and transfer that option file it to my computer (using maxdrive), and then using the PESFan Editor 5.03 importing that kit to overwrite/replace the Ascoli kit in the option file I am editing? This is complicated to explain, but it looks like a solution that can overcome the issue of not being able to edit licensed teams' kits.

Most PES5 fans wouldn't want to do this I know, but I want to customize even my licensed leagues so they have the teams I want them to have.

Anyone try this yet or care to respond?

I don't think that would work. The licenced kits are locked and can't be edited so I'd assume you can't trick it into changing either. Have a try and let us know though. Good luck.

We will finally be able to answer this question as my copy of WE9 (PES5) just arrived and I am going to experiment. Will report back in case anyone is interested..

IT DOES WORK -- Ça marche bien !

I have experimented as I described in my first post above, and it does trick the game into removing a licensed team's kit and substituting another of my choice. NOTE: My experiment made use of the Max drive and involved the PS2 version of PES5 (WE9 here in N.Amer.) I will assume for this discussion that the reader knows how to move option files back and forth from the PC to a PS2 memory card.

Here's my Example: I used the PESFAN editor (latest version) and loaded up the Watson option file for WE9 (PS2 edition). I went to the Dutch Eredivisie league and selected Heracles. I used the PESFAN Editor option that allows you to open a second option file and to import a kit. I thus did that and selected to overwrite the Heracles kits with Esportivo from the generic option file. I saved the Watson option file, and transfered it back to my PS2 memory card using Max Drive.

Then when I loaded WE9, guess what? The Dutch league then contained instead of Heracles, voila Esportivo! All of the Heracles players remained, but the Esportivo team's kits were there instead of the Heracles kits. As an added bonus, the new "licensed" Esportivo now had kits that the game allowed me to edit in-game, something that you otherwise cannot do with licensed squads. Everything else in the edit team section of the "licensed Esportivo" was locked, as before of course, except for the "Choose formation" and now the kits.

I'd say this is a good discovery, since those of you who now want to edit your licensed leagues with a little patience and careful work can put your favourite squad into the league. I know that Napoli is heading to the Serie A on my game. This give more power to those of you who want to replace a licensed league with another league of your choosing.

That's quite good. Thanks for that. Maybe option file makers can make use of this and release files where all kits are editable.

Additional Note on this subject

Yes, it seems to give more power to option file makers.

One Caveat (Note) that everyone should be aware of:
When you open the second option file in PESFan Editor 5.05, be sure to choose a NON-Licensed team's kits to overwrite the licensed team's. If you choose to replace a licensed team's kits with another licensed team's kit, when you transfer the option file back to the PS2 memory card and run WE9 (or PES5), you will have succeeded in changing the team's kit, but it will not be editable.

Remember in my example above I overwrote Heracles' kits (a licensed team) with Esportivo (a non-licensed team). Today I experimented with the Italian league and overwrote Ascoli's kits with Lecce's. When I started the game, sure enough Ascoli was now wearing Lecce's kits but I could not edit them. But as long as the Option file creators know this it's not a real problem.

Haha! great stuff dude. Made my day cause I'm doing the Swedish Premier Division for this season and had edited a team over a licensed one.

Glad to hear someone is putting this concept to use. By the way, to the last person who responded, since you are creating the Sweedish league, do you have an emblem in .png format for IFK Göteborg? I want to include them in my game ...
