Question for anyone getting a PS3 to play PES6

Now that the PS3 is only hours away from release (and I'm sure some of you guys will be picking one up!), was really just hoping that if anyone one here has a copy of PES6 PS2, could give it a try and see if it is at all playable. The Sony BC list is now up and PES6 is listed, BUT listed as having noticable issues. What this means is not clear at all, so if anyone could give the game a good thorough play (online as well as offline), would be appreciated.

Also CRISSGRAN if you read this, as you work in games testing, what kind of problems might we be looking at here?

I would also like to know what these "noticable issues" are.

Sony are saying that a firmware update should fix any issues with a lot of the older games. I don't know how much truth there is in that but if anyone here is planning on getting a PS3 in time for tomorrow, then please post the results of your tests here.

I will be picking up my PS3 friday morning and will be giving PES6 a good old playtest on it. I will post my findings here, although, i wont be TOO bothered if there are issues, so long as PES7 cuts the mustard when it comes out in the autumn.

Sadly, having just picked-up my Australian PAL PS3, I can report that PES6 for PS2 does not play well on this system. It was the first game I tried post installing the 1.6V patch & the end result was like playing a game that suffered form intermittent stuttering during play. To give you an example, it’s like playing someone with bursts of bad lag. So there you have it.

Oh well, PES7 isn't too far away

What are bunch of tossers Sony are - seeing as the PS3 will not see any form of next-gen footballing action until least October 07, you'd have thought they might of at least put in a bit of effort to get PES6 or even FIFA 07 working.

Oh well at least Ico, Shadow of the Collasus, God or War 1 & 2 and MSG3 are reported to have no issues. They still managed to shaft Okami though!

My other consoles are gathering dust, all i play now is the 360. I wouldnt really know what kind of problems to expect from backwards compatibility for PS3, i mean, the usual issues always crop up so nothing new or unique. I don't feel any real interest or cold chill with PS3 the way i did with PS2, its just not all that. The 360 can perform to the same level and most games are released on both anyway. I know the usual fanboys will step forward blah blah. I don't really care either way, My 360 does me and will always be superior to me because of a few things; 1. the cost, 2. The head start it has, 3. The number of games and familiarity developers already have with it., 4. Xbox Live which is highly established, gonna be hard for Sony to breach that, 5. The excusive games. I know Sony fanboys will cry out MGS4 MGS4 but i have just one thing to say to them HALO 3. I mean, no matter how amazing MGS4 is, it still won't outsell Halo 3 since Halo 2 was the biggest selling game ever. All in All, 360 winsd console war which I am no part of since i own them all, but i know which one i play more and that's 360. If theres one thing i do love it's Achievement points, Gamercards made 360 win i'm afraid Sony, sorry.

I have heard that the game will play fine as long as:

- You play in 50hz
- You dont play online

As the online mode doesnt work on the PS3, and the 60hz mode is really glitchy

Have you tried following Sony's instructions on updating the firmware etc, etc?

I can confirm that, after updating my PS3 software/firmware version (when you buy it, it's on version 1.50 I think) to version 1.60 via the Internet (ethernet cable required, wi-fi won't do it), PES6 works as long as you play it on PAL 50Hz when you're asked at the beginning of the game. Just like what Kashmere said, the only thing that's a bit crap about it is, during the match, is that it stutters intermittently (especially within penalty boxes, centre circles, and other places where there's a congestion of players).

The steps required for you to get PES6 working:

1. Hook up your ethernet cable with your internet (it should pick up your details quickly)
2. In your menu, select Settings --> select System Update --> select Update via Internet
3. After following the instructions, you should be able to have PES6 working.

I'm pretty sure that Sony will release another system update to eradicate the problem but for now enjoy.

Got my PS3, but am only getting a green screen via HDMI. Shitty composite is fine. Have updated to fw 1.60, but still getting green screen via HDMI - any suggestions before I toss this pile of shite away? In case anyone asks, I've tries other HDMI cables that work fine with my HD-DVD player and my SKY HD - only PS3 is giving me this grief!

i cant update cause the internet lead i got with my ps3 doesnt fit my phone socket:unsure:

If it's an Ethernet Cable then it's not supposed to fit your phone socket.

I'm pretty sure you have to connect your PS3 to a Router if you want to access the Internet.

I am so totally pissed off, the one game that I played on my PS2 doesnt work on my PS3 properly! It stutters and is totally unplayable. I hope sony sort this! The only downfall of PS3 I have come across so far

Have you tried installing the firmware update?

Too many newbies in this thread are pissing and moaning about PES6 not working when they haven't even tried the firmware update yet. :shocking:

If you're going to slag Sony off, then you should at least follow their instructions first before posting any comments.

I've updated the firmware and have no problems with playing PES 6.

The big downside is that I can't find a suitable option file.

Cheers Ron, but got it working. The auto colour option on my HDMI channel was set to a predefined setting. Reset back to auto colour and now all is fine!

Has anyone tried Pes6 online via the PS3. Is this possible?
