Question for anyone getting a PS3 to play PES6

My other consoles are gathering dust, all i play now is the 360. I wouldnt really know what kind of problems to expect from backwards compatibility for PS3, i mean, the usual issues always crop up so nothing new or unique. I don't feel any real interest or cold chill with PS3 the way i did with PS2, its just not all that. The 360 can perform to the same level and most games are released on both anyway. I know the usual fanboys will step forward blah blah. I don't really care either way, My 360 does me and will always be superior to me because of a few things; 1. the cost, 2. The head start it has, 3. The number of games and familiarity developers already have with it., 4. Xbox Live which is highly established, gonna be hard for Sony to breach that, 5. The excusive games. I know Sony fanboys will cry out MGS4 MGS4 but i have just one thing to say to them HALO 3. I mean, no matter how amazing MGS4 is, it still won't outsell Halo 3 since Halo 2 was the biggest selling game ever. All in All, 360 winsd console war which I am no part of since i own them all, but i know which one i play more and that's 360. If theres one thing i do love it's Achievement points, Gamercards made 360 win i'm afraid Sony, sorry.

i generally agree,but 5. exclusive games,i disagree.i aint getting a ps3 happy with my 360 but mgs is way better than halo,having been given halo2 by a mate and playing like 1 level i just didnt see what the hype was,so i gave him it back since i wasnt gonna play it again,he was relucctant to take it back.but mgs has gone down hill steadily since its playstation debut which was awesome!!gears of war if anything for me,stuff halo 3,bring on the next gears of war the only real exclusive i can think of that i want!

My PS3 plays pro evo 6 in an ok fashion with e few stutters. I e-mailed Sony about the backwards compatability issue, this was their reply.


Dear Sir/Madam,


Thank you for your recent correspondence.

Rest assured that Sony are working on a software update that will make 100% of PS2 games compatible with the PS3.

As you know, Pro Evo 6 runs but with a few problems. This is being worked on and should be resolved with a future update.

i read somewhere that sony's priority is NOT to worry about backwards compatibilty, but to ensure the development of future gaming........

and too right! i have PES 6 and get all the stuttering that comes with it, but i would rather sony spend there resources on making sure PESHD will run on their machine in future, then spend all the hours of the day to get a PS2 game running smoothly on a machine that is capable of 10X more!

forget about your PS2 games, how about sell them and start buying the next gen HD games that your brand new PS3 was meant for...

PS3 was atually designed as a way to flog Blu Ray, Sony always referred to it as a Blu Ray player with many additional Multimedia and Gaming features. At least 360 does what it says on the box, a games console with a great and simple dashboard system for additional multimedia applications. I don't buy games consoles to browse the web etc, I buy them to play games, the whole "trying to make PC's obsolete" thing, is a pain in the ass.

Who said anything about making PCs obsolete?

Game consoles are simply mini Computers designed to be used with TVs. What's so complicated about that?

Just ignore him. I doubt anyone's really taking much notice of him anyway as he's not even posting in the right place for that sort of discussion. Most people make their own minds up anyway and don't need some little kid telling them what he thinks. Besides he almost sounds desperate to do so and therefore looks like he's trying to convince himself that owning a 360 is the right thing at this moment in time.

You know something, I just will not understand why there is so much animosity towards the PS3 from people who've got a 360.

I mean, I don't think I've seen anybody here who owns a PS3 slagging off the 360.

I own a PS3 and it has 7 times more power then an Xbox360,

i just think 360 owners a gutted that they couldn't wait a little bit longer for the PS3, of corse if your rich then you can have both.... but you don't see them people slagging off either system anyway!

i think its great you can connect to the internet and download stuff or what ever from your TV!

Just face it the PS3 is here to stay and it is going to be the greatest Multimedia/games console/entertainment sytem to date, wheather you 360 owners like it or not.

Nothing confirmed yet but probably October.

I guess if GTA4 comes out in October then PES7 will in most likelihood be out around the same time. They usualy tend to coincide with each other, at least they have in the past.

Did i hear it right that someone said ignore me i'm a little kid? Well my friends, I'm 21 and work in games testing for Eidos and many other companies. I own all consoles, and if you happened to read the official Eidos statements about the PS3, you'd see you were wrong about the "7x" power thing and many other apparent advantages. The official Eidos statement goes something along the lines of. "It will be at least 2 years before we are able to utilise the full power of the PS3, right now we can only utilise about the same as 360." You see, due to the architecture of the PS3 internally it makes it more difficult. I'm not a fanboy so I don't rave about any console inparticular, unlike many people, I believe in facts. To the guy who called me a little kid, get your facts right because i actually know more about these things than you ever will. They aren't great from what I saw, I think one problem was that when you play it on a tv that isn't HDMI compatible, the games look much more grainy and shitty, thats one problem, HDMI isn't backwards compatible

well if you can afford a £425 machine in the first place you can afford to spend £299 on a cheap ass HD ready TV in ASDA! to play it on surely?

if your not going to use your PS3 online or with a HD TV the stick with a PS2 till you can.
