Rainbow Flick!

Right, first of all, players online are using this as a cheat. You can't stop it from hapning with players like Ronaldo, Messi etc. But, this game is all about the "realism" of football. It's very unlikely that players use this skill, unless of course, they are 4 goals up and showboating. Even then you dont see players doing it. I just played a Spaniard online that done this trick all the way through my team and even when I tried to bring him down with a slide tackle, the game refused to respond to my command. Anyone else having this problem? :realmad:

I hate that shit! whenever someone does that against me I take them down from behind, its cool because the ref never gives red cards anway so screw it! I don't know what Konami was thinking when they implemented this new trick system! WTF seriously, do they want to turn this into their version of FIFA Street?

yeah it's pretty stupid. Actually had a guy hit the goalpost off a rainbow flick, I was pissed even though he missed.

I had someone do the rainbow trick, a couple of times against me... I went 2 - 1 down because of it. Then with 10 mins of the game left I sneaked 2 goals in to win 3 - 2.

I admit its annoying but if you are finding it hard to defend against them, then play a deep defence and use counter attacking football to win against them.

Tactics have no bearing on this subject....

tactics cant change the fact every player on PES 2011 can do the rainbow trick I agree with you there, but tactics can help deal with people who use it to try get through you're entire defence.

try pressing x + towards your goal to stand off then towards and x when the ball drops.

i know what you mean it's like time stands still when that trick is done and nobody knows what to do.

lame.

I have to say that the addition of being able to stand off, vs extra pressure when press X is a great addition. People never expect you to stand off online, useful in blocking cross attempts and preventing a player for jinking by you.

It is happening again
Yeah, I've tried standing off and it seems to work. But then again, it might just be that I've not been up against anyone who knows how to time the rainbow flicks effectively.... I duuno.
You can often tell when someone is about to do it because they slow down before hand.

I think you need to really practice defending a lot more before making a post like this... the control you have over defenders in terms of standing off and pressure have improved greatly... the rainbow flick has worked on me once....after that, it became predictable... never worked on me again.... if you actually play football, you would know how to anticipate the move and intercept the ball..just be patient.. good defenders arent the ones who go in for the tackle and win the ball, they are the ones who wait for the attacker to make a mistake.

I think I'm pretty good at defending, I have only conceded 2 goals in my last 5 matches. It was due to the lag in connection and he was doing the trick, that was pissing me off. It always seems to be the foreigners that do the Rainbow flick I've noticed. I have managed to stop this from happning by standing off a bit more. It's a bit judgemental that you say I need to practice defending, due to a cheat in the game, when loads of other honest players are having the same problem as me.

Those can be blocked easily if sensed before. When that dribble is coming, you have to stay close to the player and hold X. Also you should come from the front or side, not behind.

One of my very first games I played in MLO, was beating some guy 3-0, and he did it with Lavezzi twice and scored both times as soon as it landed in my Pen box. sinse then I have either hacked them out, or backed off and pressure like u said and it normally works.

I FUCKING hate the rainbow flick, its only good element is that is simulated via player stats so crap players will always screw up and even good players will miss control after performing it but why Konami WHY?

The reason I say that is because I always manage to stop those online players that try to do the trick.... I had one guy try it 6 or 7 times in a half, with me stealing the ball each time..he go so frustrated that he quit the match!!! and it was just 1-0 to me... but that was the only trick he had...

Dont agree with this entirely, I would say that good defending is going for the ball and winning it, with waiting on attackers making a mistake only a part of defending. What you meant to say was that bad defending is the ones who go for the ball and don't win it!

you are partially right...but if u play at a competitive level, and go in for the ball while your opponent has control over it, then you will be left to look like a fool... a smart defender only makes the first challenge to win the ball when its 50/50, or if the ball holder is in a awkward position with no options to pass or dribble. watch thiago silva or carvalho for an entire match..
