As we all know, 99% of the online community go Real Madrid and either:

a) Spam through balls to Ronaldo
b) Spam the wings because Bale and Ronaldo and out run every full back

What I want to know is how people play against this?

Normally I play a really deep back 4 line with 2 defensive mids and have Ronaldo, Bale, and Benzema man marked by two people. It works most times but then I find it hard to score because I've got no one up the park. Recently I've been playing around with the offisde trap which is good but comes down to timing. One game I caught someone out 6 times with the trap but another I was sh*t at the timing and my keeper ended up having a 1 v 3 (Ronaldo, Bale, and Benzema) with no defenders in sight.


TL;DR - Whats your success stories defending against real madrid (team, formation, tactic?)

Ive beat players who used Real Madrid, with lower rated teams such as Lyon, Marseille and St. Etienne, but I never did anything out of the ordinary. I used the team's usual formation and just played the way that I usually play

But at this point, I don't even face those guys. 9 times outta 10, a guy picks Real Madrid because he knows that he would lose with any other team. To me its not worth it, because I play the game for fun. I see this game, as a way to match football wits with my opponent. Im done facing tards who don't know how to compete like men.
Im done with Online Divisions until they can fix matchmaking

I don`t want to brag , but I have managed to win online club open with River Plate , using default formation and settings. I had hard time to get used to be always slower and weaker in duels but I have noticed that if you don`t use switch button when playing defense , your players tend to place themselves much better,cutting passing lanes , sometimes through ball passes my defense , but don`t forget that other teams that I use are teams like sheffield , west ham etc. It takes allot of practice but it can be done. I have a rating around 750 and I have never used 4 or 5 star team ,biggest problem that I have playing with low rated teams is stamina , because around 20 to 30 minutes till end my player are running like wounded snail :) , so sometimes I get beaten against better players using much stronger teams in these 20 minutes. My advice is don`t use switch button ,use x button only when you are very close and in position to take the ball , play defense only with moving player around and don`t overuse r1 when you don`t need to. It takes time but it works. Hope I helped.

I love playing at home v Madrid, I'm always man united, I always set the pitch short and wet, to watch there spam lob balls go out of play, or watching there players struggle to control after the ball hits the surface brings a smile to my face.

well, I am a Madrid fan, so come rain, sunshine or snow, its Madrid all the way, just glad I an run now in 2015, 2014 was a pain with the special running... although my mate is kicking my arse with Bayern munich at the mo

im rated about 670, but i use middle of the road teams...napoli, fiorentina, and schalke....i find playing using the D-pad to move your defense back is vital against madrid.....as soon as they get the ball go deep manually. i still play 3 up top...because their defense is so good you need the numbers or you wont score. dont mind playing bad players when they are madrid...but it takes the piss when someone is a div 5 player using them!

Hello chaps new on here.i play on xbox one as west ham all the time I've just been promoted to div 4 and have about 750pts.i play 3-5-2 and when defending I make sure that the first defender that I use is the computer one that presses the and have the one I'm controlling behind.most of the time when people are Madrid or bayern etc etc they can't resist running with the ball so the pressing player normally make a challenge and even if he doesn't get the ball the player I'm controlling mops up.as for through ball just try to make sure you're using the deepest defender to cut out through ball.hope this helps abit it works a treat for me.ive dealt some hefty hidings to top teams.as for attacking one-twos and not sprinting about are what work for me.

Well after loosing 4 in a row, to Madrid...obviously I don't think I have been beaten by any other team, only loosing 19 online, so I was Madrid, and wow every shot pretty much goes is, defence solid,

Luckily I've only played Madrid twice in about...60 games. Drew the first one, won the second one 4-0 with Ajax. They aren't so bad once you cover passing lanes to the front three and also keep an eye on positioning for balls over the top.

Played against real the other night in a 5 min competition match. I was using munich. I left the defensive line at default which is about 6 bars. This lad barely even used short pass, he passed with ground through balls all the time. He found his players each time, even with throughballs from well inside his half, and pretty much ripped my defence assunder. Ridiculous when I was munich. I could do nothing about it with the default defensive line, and I'm a decent player.

But, as usual with these real madrid mongo's, he was fucking shit. He was obviously using full pass assistance. He had 5 one on ones with my goalkeeper in the first half alone with Ronaldo, and one of them was where he beat my goalkeeper and had an open goal. He missed everyone of them. I just laughed at how shit he is and how crap that in this game you can select real with full pass assistance against any other good team with a high defensive line and so easily throughball through them. You don't even have to think.

Anyway, I only stopped the flow when I eventually put my defensive line to 3 bars. It ended up 1-1. His goal was a hit and hope screamer from WELL outside the box, where he hit the ball first time from miles out. This was after he had no other option because my defensive line was deep at this stage and he coudn't throughball his way through me anymore because he's a handicap and can't do anything else. The dreadful lag also made it a nightmare.

Moral of the story is, use at most 3 bar defensive line against real spastics who use full 4 bar pass assistance and watch them squirm. It's a joke Konami can allow this scenario to happen in the first place.

I'm one of the mongs who played with Man U for 40 games and got so fed up of playing Madrid every game that I switched to Madrid so it was man v man!

It's so boring, I wish you could select 3 teams, and when your matched with someone you can then select which one of the 3 you would like to play with, 1 5 star 2 4 star.

I was Madrid the other day didnt wanna be but I've got so fed up, I got paired with someone being Bolton!!!! So I put all the reserve players on to play him, they are still very good player, but I played most out of postion, e.g khedierA at centre back, so they were a few of my players 60 rated, I wanted to make it fairER. I lost 4-2 fair play to be guy, but it was such a horrendous match up in terms of teams, why is there not a better match making system!

Well fair play to you picking the reserves. Sometimes I pick an AFC team just to play around with these Madrid spammers. Bottom line much like in my club where you can search for opponents similar to your division the same should be for online. Divide clubs from 2-5 star rankings. Want to play a five star team ie Madrid,Bayern,Juve have at it. If you dont simply search for similar opponents a la 2,3,4 star clubs.
