Realistic Customizable Cameras - My Suggestion

My suggestion is: Realistic customizable cameras

1) We must have the ability to fix cameras outside the pitch, and stop it from flying into the pitch, but instead, tilt vertically and zoom to show far or close action, just like real matches on TV, which preserves the 3D depth effect.
2) Height and Zoom settings should be customizable.
3) Bring back panning from 1-10.

I'd like to have realistic camera views that offer the same angles that we see on TV. And since many leagues have different TV camera angles and heights, I'd like to FINALLY have customizable cameras (ZOOM/HEIGHT) in the game, which have been in FIFA for... more than 8 years!

However, even if we are able to customize the zoom in/out and height of the camera, there is one fundamental flaw that needs to change:

In real live TV, the camera is always outside the pitch. It tilts up (while zooming in a bit) and down (while zooming out a bit) to show far and close action.... preserving the 3D effect which you see on TV.

However, in PES, the camera flies into the pitch to show far action, giving an angle different than what you see on TV, and eliminating the realistic depth seen on TV...

Lost 3D depth effect:

I would really like to see this change, and to have customizable zoom/height on the cameras in the game. Some leagues like the England League have low cameras that make the crowd visible during the game....

Preserved 3D depth effect, also notice the slightly low prespective of PL matches' broadcast:

Preserved 3D depth effect, also notice the slightly higher prespective of UEFA cup macthes' broadcast:

Notice how in both views, the crowds can be seen cheering in the ingame broadcasting view, adding immensly to the atmosphere, unlike the standard PES cam which flies into the pitch.

So it's really just a small modification that could result in a huge realistic effect for the wide cam look of the game. And it's customizable so people can adjust it whatever way they want.

Video examples:
Look how the camera is always outside the pitch, and it doesn't need to fly into the field, but instead, tilts up and zooms in a bit to show far action:

The painful thing is that in ISS3, Konami already had a brilliant camera view thing going (credits to AntrAcsA... thanks man):

Oh and finally, please:

BRING CAMERA PANNING BACK!
BRING CAMERA PANNING BACK!
BRING CAMERA PANNING BACK!
BRING CAMERA PANNING BACK!
BRING CAMERA PANNING BACK!

Thank you...

That is a very good suggestion, and very thorough one too (kudos on the presentation!). My only concern is that it could make playing on the "far" side of the pitch a bit cumbersome, but then again, that's where testing is useful.

Thanks man. Well the idea is that on TV you can perfectly see and watch the game on the far side (because the camera zooms in a bit while it tilts up, without "flying" into the pitch). So whatever solution TV cameras are using in their behavior to transmit the game, PES should imitate this behavior to provide a realistic view, without flying into the field...

Eh....
Not really into this.

I get it with the whole realistic thing, but in real life, there aren't people actually controlling the players from their seats at home with a console controller (don't try to make jokes, lol), meaning that for them, it won't change a thing.
But now, if I were trying to play using that camera....yeah, wouldn't work out.
I'm fine with the camera as it is now.

But for the replay camera, they could add a Ghost Cam, as I've suggested ^^ =P

They had it in all PES games on PS2 and PES 6 on 360, it was the ability to change the Tilt/Perspective on Wide Camera which gave the perfect "TV View" as the camera panned left to right rather than scrolling alongside the pitch.

I'm 100% with you on this subject, this made a massive difference in the game to me and I am still bewildered as to why Konami took this out of 2008 and 2009!

For me, it is essential that they bring it back in to 2010. Here's hoping.

Thanks man, but note that this suggestion not only asks for the 1-10 panning option to be back, but to also stop the camera from flying into the field to transmit far sideline action which never happens in real life...

I'm with you mate, that zoom also seems a good idea. I think football games should have customisable cameras as standard these days anyway. You could then recreate the gantry angle at all the grounds IE Wembley is quite low and The Emirates quite high up. Its all about choice and giving the consumer what they want. I'm quite sure it can't be that difficult to implement seeing as the PS2 could manage it!

I'm hearing that there are no new camera angles or customisable ones is PES 2010, from people at Gamescom. I have three simple questions - WHY? WHY? WHY?!

FIFA can do it, why can't PES?! Yet again, the wide cam from the videos I have seen look too "birdseye", you can see the top of the crossbar more than the actual size of the goal - a fundemental flaw in all "next-gen" PES games. PS2 angles were far better.

And for the love of GOD, why can't you implement the Tilt perspectives again? Is it so hard to put this back in when there are lots of people who want it?

I'm not happy at all with what I have seen (I won't even go there about animations etc), and for people on other forums to say that PES 2011 is where is is going to be at is just crazy - PES will be finished by then.

Rant over.

Actually, if you change the camera to broadcast 2 (or maybe 3) I think it does exactly what you're talking about, but it's quite difficult to master playing the game that way.

Just bringing back tilt to the wide cam would be plenty for me!

I have tried the broadcast 2 and 3, BUT, the camera pans too slowly and the controls suffer quite badly for some reason. We may never get tilt back in, and that is a crime! I think it is time for another developer to look into a new football game.

Exactly, I fell in love with the broadcasting camera for the same reason. But as you said, it's too low and zoomed in to be playable. Therefore, I suggest making it's height and zoom customizable.

Yeah I'm with you on this. As far as my game developping knowledge goes, I think it's relatively easy to implement.

I'm with you Kev, I work in the industry and know it isn't difficult to do - smacks of laziness if you ask me. It is the small things that fans are constantly left disappointed with which is the reason that PES is losing more and more ground on their rivals. They say they are listening, but I think not hard enough........

Get this F*cking sorted Konami, it was there once, put it back in! I cannot play and the shitty camera's you currenty have any longer!!!

Look how much better this looks, taken from PC modification which still allows the 1-9 panning to be implemented. The file size to do this on PC? Around 66k (yes K, NOT mb!!)

http://kitanamedia.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1442

Put it in the console versions!!!!!!!

The_Knight, you should consider putting this into a technical memo format and send it to Konami. Its quite brilliant. Personally I would be over the moon if they just brought back the camera panning angles of 0-9. Your proposal however includes that. Well done mate.

Thanks man PESFAN is supposibly gonna send it to KONAMI already :)
