Regens in ML mode

Other than the small amount of leagues/teams in PES (and of course not being able to play with the Libertadores teams in exhibition mode), I only have one complaint with the PES games. But it's a very, very big one. Why are there no regens in Master League mode? Every single sports game has done this since the 1990's...at the end of every season, some players retire and new players are randomly regenerated to replace them. Yet for some reason, football (soccer) games refuse to do this year after year.

In terms of the capabilities of the consoles, this is not impossible at all. If the PS2 and XBox can handle it in any other sports game, PES should be playable with this feature. It's not that complicated. All you have to do is add in a 'youth academy' screen where you may or may not have a little bit of control over how the players are trained. At the end of each season, a few players are randomly generated and pop up in your youth academy. They improve over time, and when you want to you can promote them to your first team, and when they reach 19 they would become free agents if left unsigned. Obviously the vast majority of them wouldn't be any good and could be deleted if no team signed them. And players from countries without clubs in the game could be regenerated as well without mentioning who they play for, and they can simply be bought at whatever their value should be. This wouldn't be complicated at all to design, and the existing consoles can certainly handle this.

I understand that there are manager games out there for football, but there's no reason that in 2012 they shouldn't have a basic feature that exists in all other sports games. I play Football Manager and enjoy it, but I prefer playing games to only managing a team. I like to play Franchise mode/Career mode/master league in any sports game I play for several seasons, and can keep on doing so because of regens. But having existing players retire and be 'reborn' is just really annoying and keeps the ML from being fun. I never play it more than about two seasons. But if they had regens, I would play it all of the time.

I don't care which football games adopts this, but the one that will will be the one I play. Even if PES's gameplay is 1000 times better than FIFA's, if FIFA decides to add in a decent career mode that is like the career mode of any other sports game, I'll play FIFA. I'd pay two hundred bucks for a football game that did that. Didn't FIFA have this feature in the past, anyway? I remember hearing that several years ago, FIFA had a youth academy in career mode but that they got rid of it.

Am I simply dreaming? Will there ever be regens in the ML/career mode of a football game? Will it happen in 5 years? Ten? Twenty? Five years ago I remember telling myself to be patient and that they would have this feature in a soccer game in a few years time, but it still hasn't happened. What do you guys think?
