Renewing contracts?

Ok so in my Man U ml team evra was up for a new contract but he wanted double his salary. So i changed his conditions and halved what he wanted and now when i go to the negotiation window and choose evra it says something like he has delayed singing a new contract or something like that. Does that mean i can no longer sign him or do i just have to wait?

thanks

From my experience, offering half of what the player wants will never be successful. You can lower it by 1-3m max depending on how big the salary is. You have to wait until the next transfer window. However, if other team wants to buy him and he agrees the contract offered by that team, you will lose him for nothing.

yeah. prepare a bid for a new left back if you're in the summer transfer window. If you're in mid season transfer window , then do what the guy above me said when you get the chance.

If someone is willing to offer him what you weren't then he's gone.

This is the risk that the bosman rule thrives on.

it's so frustrating..I didn't have a chance to renew huddlestone's contract, he put it on hold straight away, and now udinese have signed him even though my team's on for the quadruple..and I have to find a replacement, knowing that they will probably be never as good as him..jack cork is prime target

I've had 2 players wanting higher salaries for limited contract periods. In adding 2,3 years to the contract it would always be put on hold. Come end of season they were free players and went to Barca and Spurs respectively. So it's best to work out a deal cause in my experience "on hold" means they're leaving.

well good thing for me neither evra nor fabio left. I was able to give both of them new contracts at the end of the season

I've always wanted to be able to make new contracts for certain players. Rising up their salaries to sell them at higher prices. Anybody knows if this is possible? I know that this is possible when they request a contract renewal, but I wanted to do this before. I mean, not just when they request a renewal. If anyone could help with this, it will be much appreciated.
