Launch title for the upcoming PS3 console. It launches in about 3 months (16th November I think) and media for the games is slowly coming out..........

Resistance: Fall of Man is a First Person Shooter by Insomniac (guys behind Ratchet and Clank)

The basic story

In Resistance: Fall of Man, US and British forces band together in a last-ditch effort to save England from a horrific scourge -- the Chimera. This parasitic species infects other life forms with a virus that rapidly mutates victims into new Chimera. In mere decades this race has ripped apart populations across Asia and Europe and by 1951 has landed on the shores of England. You play the part of US Army Ranger Nathan Hale fighting alongside a group of British resistance soldiers to free the country from the Chimera and to halt their spread across the globe.

Main points

-40 player online, 60 levels of progression
-2 player offline co-op campaign
-Loads of crazy weapons (like Ratchet and Clank)

-Massive levels, high res textures, orchestral music to fit on bluray disc
-Plenty of fluidly moving characters and creatures that exhibit sophisticated behaviors and interact believably with each other and with intricate environments.
-Highly detailed and interactive environments from large, crowded battlefields to tense close combat within infested military command centers and decimated urban landscapes based on real locations in Great Britain.

In the opening level, the hero Hale held a basic rifle and Schneider offered a next-gen tease: "We are going to be supporting the tilt functionality of the PlayStation 3 controller," he said. "You're going to be able to shake off melee advances, and you'll be able to counter-strike with a rifle butt. And we're looking at other tricks as well."

The jolt with the rifle butt — holding the controller with two hands and jabbing forward with the right — was animated into the game but triggered, for now, just with a press of the button. Players will have a choice of button press or flick to make it happen in the finished game.

Schneider offered some distinguishing stats. Thanks to high-res graphics and orchestral music, the game, he said, currently takes up 22 Gigabytes of memory on a Blu-Ray disc

More numbers: 40-player online matches at launch; 60 levels of player progression while playing online; two-player offline co-op. Phillips promised better, deeper support than any Xbox Live title.

He and Phillips did a developer cheat, nearly freezing the game world as they had Hale launch a bomb called the "hedgehog" — which is like a sea urchin — radiating 50 spikes. With the game slowed and the hedgehog gliding through the battlefield, Schneider talked about each of the 50 connected spikes probing the game world with their own artificial intelligence, assessing where they're about to make contact with the game's environment, when to ricochet and where to go. He pointed to enemies reacting with smooth, retreating animations. He noted the metal-on-metal ping as the hedgehog hit steel and said a different sound would have triggered if it tapped wood. He showed how the hedgehog figured out when to suddenly extend its spikes into a waist-high obstacle and erupt toward nearby enemies.

That game does look awesome. Lets hope it fulfills the hype! I remember Killzone being bigged up before it was released and didn't turn out to be half the game people were expecting...

It sounds like Insomniac are going to release some new stuff soon from a more up-to-date version of the game.
The pictures in the first post are quite old, and the game supposedly has a lot more detail, I can't wait.
