Ridiculous refereeing

I just played a game against the CPU in league mode on top player that had no less than EIGHT red cards. ALL of them were straight red. My team had three players sent off, the opposition had five. So the game was forfeited and I won. The previous game I played had two red cards one for each side. Isn't this just a bit ridiculous? I seem to be averaging a red card almost every other game, and I'd say the opposition is getting them more than I. That's not even mentioning the ridiculous amount of yellow cards averaged per game.

It is virtually impossible to do a sliding tackle unless you are well ahead of the ball/player and in perfect position without getting at least a yellow card. If the tackle is made near your own penalty area, even if I clearly get the ball first with the tackle made to the side (not from behind), about 40% of the time I will get a straight red, even with clearly one or two player back (no professional foul).

Anyone else have issues with this? It majorly reduces the enjoyment of the game. It's also very easy to have the opposition sent off, just a small trick and burst of pace and it's a slightly mistimed sliding tackle with a straight red to follow. Most of these 'red card' challenges would be a free kick at best irl, some ought even be play on, especially in the England League.

Konami should at least have the option in game to tune down the refereeing if it's going to be this bad. I presume there's no user files out there that can edit the game to tone it down?

But would the AI cheat by getting it's own CPU controlled players sent off? Because the CPU probably gets more reds than I do. You would think it would be all one way.

^I didn't mean that. I meant that the game chheats alot and sometimes your player will make an automatic tackle that gets him sent off.
As for CPU player being sent off. I never experienced what you said, but I think that it's an example of bad AI not refereeing.

Konami need to fix the refs. Yeah, a bad two footed tackle or a professional foul in the box are red cards. But a first badly timed tackle should receive a warning and then maybe another chance before a card.

There is also one ridicilous thing that happens alot , when you run with the ball , if a opponent is running behind you he can do this really weird slide tackle and defy all physics and while running similar speed behind you slide forward and kick the ball away in front of you which is completely insane , and every slide tackle from behind is a free kick at least if not a yellow card and its also impossible to slide from behind and kick the ball away without kicking the player hard in the legs , its not like he has the ball 5metres away from him but in the middle.

talking of bad decisions, i just had a goal given in my favour that didn't even touch the goal line, never mind cross it. i shot, while losing 2-1 to chelsea and cech parried the ball wide but the players stopped and the goal was given.

has this ever happened to you?

I was playing City vs Hull - Geovanni takes the ball down the left and beats Dunne, so I switch to Kompany and move in to intercept Geo's run into the box - only Dunne somehow decides it's a good idea to tackle Geo from behind! Penalty.
We win a corner and Dunne scores a great header, no one around but the ref decides that he fouled the "man" beside him. Very annoying. A lot of scripting happened in that game.

That thing pisses me off alot , sometimes when you are in the box you barely even touch the opponent with a hand and its a foul if you get a good pass and the COM wants it , on the other side you can get tackled from behind which results in a COM getting the ball cleanly somehow and no foul at all.

The whole defensive game in PES is compromised. Konami doesn't realize that playing in defense can be as fun as when we attack. However the defenders don't have any special skills to outplay the attackers, resulting in fouls and situations where you cannot do anything but observe while the COM scores.

And the tackle is actually a joke in the game. It's a shame...

sad thing is that there are times you get the ball first then the player and you hear the sound effects of it but ref decides FOUL. Happens for and against me but they should just have refs that are always 100% correct rather than crap real life refs.

They could have that strictness of the ref bar like in previous editions or have different refs, (real ones) that look different and also ref different, eg some more leniant in fouls, some looking for play to always continue, some who are no nonsense refs, etc.

AFAIC Konami should allow more user customisation and have a slider for something like refereeing, especially when its this bad. Then we can just tone down the severity of the calls, although that doesn't fix the rest of the defensive issues, would be a reasonable fix that would allow it to be playable. There should be a lot more user customisation allowed for gameplay than there is IMO (there is pretty much none atm).

I can't believe they still haven't included something as simple as the simulation of games, not that I would necessarily use the function, it just seems like a fairly standard option in todays gaming world, that makes Pro Evo look archaic. Optimisation is very very poor compared to most current games out there.
