Sacking my over paid players

At the end of this season in my mater League I've decided to get rid of all my players with salaries over £10 mill! I'm only just breaking even!! The majority of my team are from my youth academy anyway. Highest paid youth is Beckham 16 mill a season and my highest paid player is Cristiano Ronaldo 22 mill

270 as we speak!! I currently have 90 mill in the bank and I've just passed the January transfer window!! I think by the end of the season when I win everything I should topple 300 mill.

What to buy?

I'm not sure how high my wages are, but with the new transfer system in PES 2010 being terrible and without the ability to offer ludicrous amounts of money for players, I have TOO MUCH money. Every season I have around 800-900 million just sitting there doing nothing. I have all the scouts and youth team etc all on the highest level and I'm just completely stuck as to how to spend my money.

I keep negotiating with expensive players but the transfers just keep falling through. I prefer raising youngsters anyway. I miss the old days of offering players 30x what they're worth just to make sure you get them

I wish I could actually sell players, but the game won't make ANY offers after the fourth or fifth season, it seems. I can't free up space in my squad for youth teamers I want to promote!

You're in a whole different world to me!! My most expensive player (Adrian) is on 0.6m a year. My whole team only adds up to around £6m in wages!

To be fair, I haven't got any superstars, I bring a lot of youth players through and I'm only in my 5th season. I still don't know how on earth you've managed to spend £300m on wages though??!! :shocking:

I struggle to sell players also. When contract negotiations come for my over 30's I only offer them 1 year deals anyway, so I'm waving goodbye to Rooney, Ronaldo and Landroam for starters so that will save me 60 mill a season!

Some of my players are superstars but the majority of them have come up from youth. See if I can remember my team (will edit accordingly when I get home to check):
GK: Carson (youth) £
SB: Hong-You (Youth) £
CB: Jaric (youth) ££
SB: Beck £
LM: Raheim (Youth) £
CM: Scholes (youth)
AM: Giggs (youth)
RM: Beckham £
SS: Bojan £
CF: Rooney ££
CF: Everton (youth) $
SUBS
Pikjaroen (youth), Morten (youth) £, Richards £, Traore, Gonzales, Pires (loan), Espinas (youth), C.Ronaldo ££, Veron £, Landroem ££, Macheda £.
(£= wages over 10mill/££= over 20mill/$ = Under 1mill)

You're paying over £20m a season for Jaric? I thought he'd be fairly low as he's one of the default players.

I couldn't hold on to Jaric :( Hee refused to sign a new contract after about 3 seasons so he left for nothing :realmad:

Yeah, he almost left me but I stupidly offered him more money to stay! His rating is 101 for me I think! There are some close to 20 mill, Beckham is on 16, Bojan 19, Rahein 17, Hong-you 15, Morten 15, Richards 18, Veron 15, Macheda 12!! My lowest is on 820,000K a year (Everton).

You can sell players, just not easy  A few of the youth players that I've trained up I've then sold on for 50M or so. But I find anyone with high wages you will struggle to get any offers for at all.

how on earth you've managed to spend £300m on wages though??!! :shocking:

You will see soon enough! When your players want to renew contracts, they'll ask for big increases. If those players happen to be world class then the price to keep a hold of them is astronomical.

Using your youth system is the best way to keep your wages low, that's because you can get them on a cheap 5 year deal straight away... but once that 5 years is up they'll ask for their market value wages. Depends how good they are, but my best youth players will go from a 1M a year wage to a 10-15M a year wage. Then if you keep them for another 5 years you will be paying 20M+ to keep them.

I think once I get players who want that much I'll offload them, surely when you have that many good players the domination of the game must get a bit boring

Just let the unwanted players contract run out...or better yet, fire his ass and pay him a derisory amount because he couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo

I've had no trouble selling off bad players, it's selling the good ones that seems impossible. Sometimes I don't have time to let their contracts expire, and I'm not releasing players on 15m+ wages with three years left on their contracts! It'd cost a fortune!

Ah, I sort of see what you mean now. You want to sell off the top earners and replace them with young up and coming players and keep the profit, am I right?

That's a good question.

In the 'my team' section if you file down your team it will tell you if another team is watching that player. If they are, it might be an idea to put them on the transfer list to see if this will provoke an offer from the interested team. ALTHOUGH, this could backfire if the other team don't make a bid or make a very low bid and your player ends up broken hearted and useless...

Precisely. Once a player has peaked, I'm usually not interested in keeping them around unless they're captain or otherwise absolutely vital to the squad. My pleasure in ML comes from tracking down hidden gems and developing them, not buying big names. The players in 2010 like to demand absurd (I'm talking 1000%+) raises every time their contracts come up for renewal, too, so the wages get insane, giving me an even more pertinent desire to flip them, since I always start with default players and no money.

I get a lot of "teams in contact" when I TL a player, but the offers almost never come through or the window closes before negotiations can be wrapped up. Last three seasons, I've had a solid dozen teams in contact over four or five players at the time the Summer window ended, but not a single offer to handle. That's perhaps the biggest problem with the scout being involved with negotiations. Even if you set the option to "negotiate directly", you don't actually get to do so. Offers still have to be presented via your scout, and I guess if he doesn't get a price he likes, you never get the chance to approve the offer, counter or reject it. The minute a team makes contact, I want to be involved.
