Something mashed happened to me yesterday....I was playing Everton.....they had a corner & Beattie got onto it, it smacked off the crossbar & then O'Shea cleared it, but it was given as a goal....I looked at the replay & not all of the ball was over the line!

Same thing has happened with me before - the opponent shot, and the ball hit the post and bounced out - and it was given as a goal.

Reply - the ball just hit the post and come straight out - but still a goal???

Totally agree with th original poster. Actually I intensionally search for this thead cos I must not the only one who thinks the comp team cheats. Thou I have some sympaphy for Konami, cos they are probably more limited in resources than EA. I hope they realise sooner rather than later this is not the way to go, or we won't even have one decent footy game.

It is really pathetic how some of you slate Konami for making the CPU cheat.

How? how can the CPU cheat when you can prevent everything from happening?

If you lose 7 games in a row then tough fucking luck, your shit, thats the truth.

Like many other people, I can win 20 games on the trot against the CPU, does that mean I am cheating?

I just dont see how you can see it as cheating, If you cant score from 35 shots in one game then its your fault, not the CPU 'cheating', aim your shots, position your player better, less power, more power etc.

Cheating is when the ball crosses the line but the CPU continues the match without a goal, not when you cant even get the ball past the line, thats your problem, just sort your game out, your attacking method must be shit.

Well, in that case, the CPU obviously does cheat, as they scored a goal when their player was a few yards offside, it wasn't even marginal. Please tell me how I can prevent that? I, personally, consider the fact that the AI can get away with fouls that you cannot, as cheating. To say that the referee is fair is just stupidity.

Yeah but you see, believe it or not, the exact same thing happend to me and I still have it saved to my memory card. I was about 7 yards offside and a collected the ball and scored which counted. So in that case, they are not cheating.

I will try and get that replay up if you truly dont believe me.

I think it does cheat somtimes, once I did a easy back pass to my keeper and under no pressure swung and missed the ball which was about a yard to his right so I couldn't work out what he was trying to kick and the opposing striker ran passed my keeper who stood and watched him get the ball and score.

Not cheating, that could of easily happend to the CPU also.

Everything that happens to you on the game can also happen to the CPU.

When the computer makes a fuck up, you dont notice it, you just say 'yipee, that twat just fell over run Ronaldo RUN', but when it happens to you then its 'damn that CPU, cheating all the time'.

Yeah the CPU cheats. Had it happen to me many times. Shooting billions of times at the opponent's goal not getting a single one in cause their keeper has turned into The Flash or something... then they get 1 freakin lousy soft shot on goal, straight at my keeper, and the idiot fumbles it and it goes in.
...or when it's the final few minutes, and the CPU is heading into ur penalty area, but you are in no problems as you control the keeper and the ball is too far from the attacker to do anything with it... and suddenly one of my (CPU controlled) players knocks down the opposition player in the penalty area, causing ofcourse a penalty...

It's a shame that Konami hasnt been able to just increase the CPU intelligence, instead of just cheating.
Ofcourse it's ridiculous when you are running with Henry, and he is moving like a snail, while the (normally slow) CPU controlled defender catches up with Henry...

It occasionally ruins the game for me. It's a brilliant game, but its not perfect.

Fair enough, it's still cheating though?

My fav CPU goal was when their striker, the ball and my keeper slid into the goal. This large mess just slid into the goal as if it was ice and it counted. There was a large crowd infront of the net at the time, but I was simply furious.

If you have 35 shots on goal and can't score, but the computer manages to fluke one in, it's not cheating. It's bad luck. Happens all the time in real matches. Look at the Liverpool game vs. Sao Paolo - being the better team, having more shots, possession, etc. doesn't mean you win the game. Same goes for offside goals - that's the way it is sometimes. Does that mean Sao Paolo cheated?

I've let in some very unlucky goals, and scored some very lucky ones too.

Well done Konami for making the game so realistic. Just as in real football, luck is a major factor in some games.

I think it's the best game in the world, but there's still lots of flaw in it, obviously.

You ask any pro footballer they would probably tell you the AI of the game is not quite up to scratch, yet(eg, in various interviews Henry and Terry both pointed that out.) So, to make the game more challenging in high difficult levels, Konami had to give the comp teams some edge, that's a fact, admitt it, please.

To add to it, I think to the "advantage" swing both ways, I think it's easier to score when the score's level or when you are behind.

It's a well known fact that the AI of the game is not there yet, from Henry to your little kid bro knows it, I don't understand how anyone can denial it. Konami themselves would probably admit it!!!

how can you say all this when you are commiting the biggest cheat of all by reseting the console?! that is just sad. i lost in the cup final against arsenal playing as spurs. they got a beautiful goal early in the game and i just cudnt finish any shot til about 10 mins to go when i finally equalised. it went to pens and i lost 3-1, gutted cuz i cant stand arsenal. i didnt reset cuz i accepted it. the computer doesnt cheat it simply helps itself sometimes. if you are having one of those moments were you think they are gonna score then do something unexpected, sub the keeper or the good old hacking of the strikers. if you have a game when you cant score then pause it for 10 mins take a breather then come back. its a game, if it didnt do these little annoyances then we'd have nothing to talk and argue about...

I get your point, but if someone wants to turn the console off, they damn well can.

Just like they can pause it for a period of time, they can also have 100% wins by resetting. After all, like you said, it's a game...

but that many wins is pointless. it should take many seasons of perfecting the team and your ability to do that. we do it for the sense of achievement, surely you dont feel good lookin at your pld 30 w 30 d 0 l 0 at the end of the season and feel good, if you do it by resetin after each loss? im not criticizin any of you in any way btw, but these games must last us 12 months til the next one and if you do it your way your gonna get bored...

Speaking of scripted matches; has anyone played a game where the opposite happens, where the CPU helps you?

I played a game in ML (Atletico Madrid - me vs Nantes CPU); and won 10-0. The funny thing is, I only had about 12 shots on goal. It seems that every time I pressed square near the penalty area, the all would fly into the back of the net... it was quite fun, but thankfully these scores are rare in PES and more suited to FIFA.
