Yeah but you see, believe it or not, the exact same thing happend to me and I still have it saved to my memory card. I was about 7 yards offside and a collected the ball and scored which counted. So in that case, they are not cheating.

I will try and get that replay up if you truly dont believe me.

This very thing happened to me in PES4, collecting the ball easily 5 yards offside and I went on to score. I had it saved on mem card too and played it to a mate a few weeks later. He noticed that, sat on the sidelines, was Patrick Viera who had been taken off for temporary treatment. The position where he was sat, near his own goal, actually played me onside according to the CPU, hence why I scored.

He was off the pitch, no doubt about it, but the CPU classed him as active. I don't have the replay any more and I don't have the techincal wizardry to post it up on here even if I did.

If this game is scipted then I must have gotten the crap script.
I got promoted to 1st div in my 2nd year by comming 2nd.
I got to 5th in the next season and lost the div 1 cup to Chelsea 2-1 in extra time.
I lost the UEFA/Masters cup semi to Ajax in the semi final on away goals and meekly submitted to Man U in the semi's of the div 1 cup 2-0.
If this were scripted then wouldn't Konami have made a business decision to make sure you won the games and stay happy?

Yes, if all that were scripted then I'm sure Konami would have made a business decision to make sure you won games and stayed happy, whatever that means. You're talking about a mini campaign there. I don't think it could be suggested that the entire structure of the game is scripted or we'd all be going down the same path and ending up with the same results yes? You're arguing against a point that wasn't made.

I do wish I hadn't specifically used the word scripted.

At rare and selected times during a campaign the CPU handicaps your own players and makes superheroes out of its own. Personally I can tell when this is happening; maybe I'm particularly observant, I don't know, but I can tell when it's happening. The 90mins of pisstaking I endured in one particular match inspired me to start this thread.

If it ever happens to you, you feel that you really should be doing better but are inexplicably stumbling over the ball, having it bounce off yous shins and passing like a child for the full 90 mins; try setting up the same match, with all the same parameters set, on an exhibition match. It is quite likely you will see a different match unfold.

It seems apparent that some people do not know the difference between being outplayed and being cheated against.

Yeah in order to balance the game out and make sure it works out as the most realistic football game, a lot of the actions are scripted, pre-programmed, cheated, whatever you want to call it. Everything from the whistle/foul calling of a referee, to the offside calling and whether who wins a challenge between a defender and striker is most of the time set based on time left of the game, who is winning, how many players are close by defending etc. A lot is obviously fixed, but it's done to make the game seem more realistic. It's just plain annoying though when you clearly are better and could have made a good run or goal but the game makes the ref call somethign stupid far away or doesn't give you the advantage.

Some of the situation are 'fixed', refs make mistakes IRL too, (Spurs v Man U last year?) however sometimes it seems that the CPU forgets to 'let you have control of your player because he might score' at the opportune moment.

I've never heard Rooney or anyone say " I was about to shoot but for some reason my legs wouldn't work" :/ - the equivalent of the CPU missing the fact you've pressed shoot.

I think it's not cheating but it's just bad luck just like Fab said.
But i do agree with someone who said something about the injury whistles.

And about this offside cheat, sometimes the game is programmed to see the offsides later so u a get shock when u scored one but doesn't count. Well what I think is that when u are offside and u wait a few sec and then score u get away with it.
So if they don't catch u inmediatly with the offside and u wait with shooting they will forget about the offside.

Can't really explain it good and maybe im all wrong so nvm :x

I agree, in my ML, i played about 13 games unbeaten, i was on top form, then when i played Portsmouth, i was struggling, and they are like the weakest team in my league, they got a penalty for one of my players running into one of thiers, without me controlling the player, and all match i could not get the ball, or string good passes together, every tackle i did was a foul. They won 1-0 i got sooo angry, i was cheated out of it.

the same happened to me last night. Heinze bundled a player over in the box when controlled by the computer. But I don't think that it was cheating. The computer was at home therefore the ref would side with them over me and the ref was very strict. It's just the way it is. He took a real dislike to Rooney though, every time he went for the ball it was a foul. I managed to salvage a draw though.
