Shooting/1 on 1's

There were certain problems with 2011 such as when being put under pressure you would always hit your shot high and wide etc

But at least when you were 1 on 1 you could control exactly where you wanted to put the ball. Of course this didnt always mean you would score but at least you could manipulate the shots in such a way that it would go where you wanted it.

1 on 1's in 2012 just do not seem to go where you want them to, its now impossible to drill the ball into the bottom corner low and hard (or top corner, wherever you choose) and there are also times when shooting from outside the box whilst on the run that the ball just seems to go very slow and floaty

There are certain aspects of the shooting which are good such as running onto a bouncing ball and hammering it but then there are others where it severely lets the game down

I love the game and I think it plays really well in many aspects but for me, the shooting was better overall on 2011 and its a major let down in this years installment

I am also finding the exact same issue with headers although mainly headers from set pieces. It does sometimes happen during open play as well. The ball floats rather than bullets in the direction you choose.

If the heading and shooting were slightly more like PES 2011 then I am 200% sure this would be the perfect game

Oh and also, as everyone else has mentioned, the goalies are pretty poor, even on superstar level. They can even be beaten by the tamest of shots from 20 yards.

Oh and another thing, the other player (when playing online) shouldn't have control over replays, if I have a shot, score a goal etc etc, it should be my prerogative and my prerogative only to decide whether or not I wish to see the replay and NOT the other persons

Nothing more infuriating than scoring a great goal and wanting to see it right away (not at half time or after the match) and then the opponent skipping it

Although I realise its very irritating when someone scores a easy goal or whatever and they watch it (I know that is kinda contradicting what I just said but you know what I mean)

First, shot control is fine. You probably haven't played a lot of matches yet, and try to score the 1vs1's the same way you did on PES11. I score over 80% of my 1v1s, it's just a matter of practice.
Let the other player control the replay is a FANTASTIC thing Konami did. Finally you don't get all those losers who are replaying every shot/free kick etc. This speeds the game up big time. It would even be better if Konami got rid of the replays totally. It's just a waste of time. That rare time you can watch a replay for fantastic goal does not make up all the annoying moments when people are showing a replay for the lamest goals.

Its not fine at all, I try to score 1 on 1's as I used to in 2011 and its just crap, as the video shows on another thread, it goes straight to the goalie. Awful, amateur and just down right shit.

Ive played about 300 matches so I think thats MORE than enough mate, believe me.

No one iother than yourself should be in control of what you do or dont watch, who is anyone else to decide whether you want to watch a goal (or any other replay that is your choice) or not, its no one elses choice in the world but yours. Simple.

P. S Another thing, Defoe, 74 for SS and 69 for SS, really?!?!?!?! What a joke

Wow, it seems this game eats you mate. Replays are annoying. I think 80% of the players are relieved they can finally skip all the replays, since they are abused all the time. If you want replay, just go play offline and watch as many replays as you want. Online, you play against a human opponent of who you know he finds it very irritating if you show the replay all the time. Why would you want to screw up their game? I don't get that.
Since ur a Tottenham fan, I cant take you complaints about Defoe very serious. Every fan finds player from their team rated to low. Hernandez, Huntelaar and Mario Gomez are also rated just about 70. They all are or better strikers than Defoe, so don't whine about Defoe's stats, they are fine for a avarage player like him.
About shooting, I played about 150 matches, and I have no trouble scoring 1v1's. Apparantly, you are doing something wrong. It's just not the same as in PES 11, and more difficult for sure. But after a while I got the hang of it..

Not really, I like all the other aspects of the game apart from the shooting, well, one on ones in particular, it doesnt matter how I shape my body, what power etc etc I put in, it just seems to not go where I want it, a lot of people are having the same problem too

I really wished it wasnt the case as I still enjoy playing it but this is obviously a bit of an issue for myself and others

As for the replays thing, I do agree with you in a lot of ways, some people used to watch stuff that was completely unnecessary which used to bug the crap out of me, it was almost to do it JUST to be annoying. But then its not fair on the likes of say, me or you, who would only watch stuff which was worth watching such as penalty decisions, close offside calls or goals which weren't just a scrappy mess ending in a 2 yard tap it. I guess its hard to draw a line on what to do there but either way I still think its unsportsmanlike to press start when someone has just scored a great goal, I make a point of not doing it to others when they score as I feel its their choice whether they watch it or not (within reason)

I am a Spurs fan but believe me, I am far from biased, I dont think all our players should have 99 or that some other teams' players shouldn't have higher ratings its just that Defoe in particular is the one I have decided to highlight as I feel he is definitely better than 74 overall, I cant be bothered getting into a whole debate and what not but in response to your ridiculous claim that he is an average player and claiming certain others are just as good if not better than him I will say this and leave it there.....he is certainly better than KJH, Mario Gomez is alright but nothing great, id much rather have Defoe in my team as im sure many other fans would ahead of Gomez, Chicharito is a very good striker although he is a different player to Defoe, I cant see him nicking the ball past 2 players and then rifling a screamer into the top corner of the net, where as Defoe has scored many goals in the past exactly like Chicharito has, anyway, I digress....

This is not why I started this thread, it was to make Konami aware of certain things which I felt were hindering the game in certain ways, of course you are entitled to your views and opinions but theres no point in us going back and forth.

You think the shooting is fine and that the replays thing is a good thing and you also think Defoe's overall stats are justified, thats all well and good but it doesnt change my opinion on what I have already pointed out and it never will.

I'm sure you're a fairly intelligent bloke so on that basis I know you won't take what I have said as an insult or an invitation to have a constant back and forth debate about this that or the other.

Have fun and more importantly.....always wear a condom

Amen.

Oh and Konami, if you're listening (reading) please can you improve the quality of voice chat whilst playing the game, its very hard to hear my mates when we are having a game

I have friends who have FIFA and when they use voice chat it is crystal clear, please improve this very small but important (to some of us) part of the social side of the game

Thank you

A back and forth debate is indeed not very usefull. But it does make it clear how difficult it is for Konami to create a game we all love. I find KJH a lot better than Defoe, but it's just not possible to compare those strikers. KJH is the number 1 European striker at the moment, allready scored 25 times (all competitions) this year, 5 more than Messi. I think he's rated very low. I play Spurs a lot, and I also find Defoe rated quite low. But like I said, for Konami it's just impossible to please everyone.

That mic problem is indeed very annoying. I play it with my brother a lot, and I can barely hear him..

Yeah I mean its just that every other aspect seems perfect but if they had kept the shooting more similar to 2011 with a couple of tweeks it would have been spot on I reckon

I think KJH is a good player and Id actually be happy if Spurs signed him (get rid of Pav) but I just think Defoe is more of a threat, KJH would need to score that many in the English League to be given full credit though as it is the toughest league in the world but none the less, he is still a good player

Im not saying Defoe should have 85+ or anything but he should have a higher overall rating really

Yep, its certainly not great and hardly clear at all

What format do you have it on?

Jamie, I don't disagree with everything you say, but shooting is just fine. You probably just do it wrong.

Playing from left to right, pull the left stick straight up to shoot to the left side, and straight down to shoot to the right side. If you hold the stick left and up/down, the shot will go straight at the keeper.

nandoq's thread explains in detail;

So aiming straight up/down in order to shoot the ball somewhere in the upper/lower corner of the goal is "just fine"? That's really a lot of shot control you get there...

The "power" bar decides not the shot power, but the height of the shot. Body positioning, pressure and some other factors decides power, and special controls button enforce a weaker, more well placed shot.

Yes, that is shot control, just learn how to use it instead of saying it's not there.

Trust me mate, ive tried every single way in training and proper matches and it just seems totally f**ked, its not so much the long shots, they actually seem ok, its when im inside the box and for 1 on 1's

Thing is, I could do what every other fu**er does and just simply go round the goalie or lob him but thats just boring, I want to score proper drilled shots into the bottom corner just like real life

Think you didn't quite get what I meant.
Sure, you can adjust height with the power bar. And of course, shot power depends on positioning (especially weak/stron foot), and most importantly timing. I never said that you couldn't score a goal, in fact if you train that (as you said), it's not that hard!

Still, this gives me just control about shot height, power and "special effect" (L1, R2, ...). But "controlling" a shot is mainly about aiming for a spot, and that is not given as I mentioned before! You can't control where you want to shoot to, just "aim straight up/down -> shoot somewhere up/down". That's not controlling a shot. Besides, to me it just appears stupid to run up from the wing until mid-field and aim straight up/down for a shot (how unrealistic is that)...so what I do is not aim straight up, but very slightly to left (about 5° to left) -> boom, I don't shoot at the upper corner as I intend to, but hammer a goal at the bottom corner. Nice goal...but that's not what I wanted -> I don't have control.

If I run at a certain angle towards the goal and press "shoot", it should shoot exactly (or at least generally) in the direction I'm running/aiming. I think that's the most natural thing you can ask for.
