Aiming is generally good in the game. most shots go where i want them to, i find getting the right power and momentum to be the challenge with scoring sometimes

I agree with S-D-P. I never really thought about it, but I shoot just the way S-D-P describes, and that's also why I never really could understand the complaints about shooting in PES12. Some odd shots are botched, but that's just life.

Yep, playing from left to right, straight up gives a cross to the faaaar post or further, straight right is center of box-ish, and straight down is a short cross, last one hardly ever effective in my eyes. A simple pass is better in those occations imo.

Holding "Switch player" button while pressing cross will make you aim at the striker, or another appropriate player in his position if he's absent (or doing the cross). Or one of them if you got more than one...

I sure can do with some tips on crossing. Thanks allot. Just a question- which button is the "Switch player" button. I have the ps3 version. Thanks.

the shooting is bullshit. doesn't matter what ur stats are at 3 yards out my granny could find the corner. they have tried to make it more real but in fact makin the player find the middle of the goal everytime is the unrealistic thing i jave come across in pes! it makes the game fucking shit, barca score every chance they get and all i get is 10 shots on target all the the keeper so i lose 5-0. i also have been playing pes for years and usually get the hang of it and when i get better i use worse players but i cant win shit in this game with an all star team because i cant score my chances. fucking sort it out kanomi its not hard stop changing this that dont need fixed or fucking stop making the game

About crossing, ppl tend to indeed forget that you CAN aim the crossing as well (as pointed in the first post).

For instance, try once this:

while running on the side
-->
Press cross, for instance once and point now to
<---

I guarantee your cross ends up where the X is in the box

|---------
|
|x
|
|---------

Instead of ending up too close to the keeper / striker.

This kind of cross is excellent if you use amf, etc to make runs into the box BEHIND the striker.
Just think that your cross will end up to the box, and if you play for instance DOWN (when running up to the box), this will end up on the down part of the box. Press UP and the cross will end up more in the middle. Press Twice cross and UP and your cross will be quite short to the UP part of the box... you get the picture.
And btw, crosses along the ground were killers in 2011

About shooting I agree with OP and some posts. By pressing straight UP or DOWN when aiming, really makes you aim to the corner. This can result in an excellent shot to the corner or shot going wide like crazy. So it's a bit of a gamble But thats the beauty of it!
:)

One thing that has bothered me a bit though is the R2 Controlled shot being a bit weird in PES2011, 12. In 2010 they were spot on but now you get a bit weird outside-foot shots, or straight at keeper shots SOMETIMES.. when your trying to curl it instead. But player body position plays a huge factor in that!

Just a question- which button is the "Switch player" button. I have the ps3 version. Thanks.

I think R1 is the talked button here, with it you do the "early cross"

Right on the money. I understand some game variables but..... this is BS.
I have played for years and scoring on this version becomes a thing of luck. Last game i had 20 shots on net and 8 actually hitting on net. Seriously, i don't expect to score every time but could i at least hit the net??

You can't expect every shot to be on target for a long shot. It depends on their power, accuracy and technique

Someone above said to aim before you shoot. This is not possible, if you do this your player will turn and put you in a weird shooting angle

You can't aim. It's all about luck unless one day I bought Messi and I was like WOW, this is too easy. Almost every shot around the 16m box is a goal. While I respect him as the best player in the world, his shooting is by far not the best in the world. There are better players at this who are just crap in PES.

And one on ones... what a joke. So hard to score. You were able to dribble the keeper in the past; thankfully they've kind of fixed it in the new release 1.02 but still possible. The alternative is to fake the shot once in front of the keeper. While this isn't as easy as dribbling the keeper, still 90% of them are goals. Crap if you ask me. Goalies don't always fall for it in real life, while in PES they do, everytime.

How to aim shots

I play PES 2012 on PC and I use a XBOX 360-controller to play it.

Like most people I found that most shots somehow ended up in the guts of the keeper even if I believed I aimed it perfectly into the corner or anywhere else for that matter.

But I think I figured it out now....and I know this has been mentioned here and there before, but just for the sake of saying it again:
try using the D-pad for aiming towards the corners (whereas shot power decides if it'll be in the upper or lower corner)

Hopefully someone out there finds this helpful.

It is like playing in real life. You have to consider your player's body angle. You can't expect to shoot to the right hand corner if your player is facing left. Again, the timing of when you kick the ball is important. Right or left leg depending on player.....

When you are crossing, try it when your player is open, it is so much easier and accurate

For shooting power, it is about body angle. But when it comes to accuracy, especially world-class strikers, they can shoot regardless of body positionng. And how come if you aim in the middle it always goes in the middle as I though you said it won't always go where you aim.

Accuracy, I agree with you that world class striker can position shots better than other. But there is still angle you can't hit easily if your body angle is wrong. It is the moment your foot hit the ball. It could be a clean hit and it will go where you want it to be. If it is not a clean hit, it can be anywhere. The game decided middle is the spot, but in real life it can be anywhere. The recent example is Torres against Man United, where he is clean thru, but he mishit the shot so badly. He is a world class striker.....This happen in real life football. You see it all the time.

I personally have no problem shooting the ball to where I aiming for, occasionally I do shoot straight, but I do notice that, my player is under pressure from the CPU or I am trying to hit a spot where it is hard to hit with my player's position. You need to practice a lot with shooting and every player is different.

When Torres hit it, it's because the ball bobbled and din't aim it well on his left foot.
Things like that are rare and should only take place on PES with someone with a crap weak-foot accuracy and technique but to be honest I don't have a problem with shooting anymore in patch 1.02 apart from the power bar.
Patch 1.01 shooting was aweful

Torres didnt time it correctly. 1.00 is my favourite  but I do notice i can control the power better with my older PS3 controller. Maybe i am use to the pressure i need for the buttons.....

Really.... Everytime I have a 1 on 1 with another player pressurizing me, i tap the power bar and it goes over the crossbar/

Btw mclak, you created your account in 2008 and your first post was few days ago. How on earth can you still remember your username and password?

 Beats me. Username is the easy part, i use the same for other forums too. I was lucky with the password, its 1 of the password i use for forums.

Talking about the power bar, was playing Valencia last night in CL, Rooney blasted 3/3 of his 1 on 1 with the keeper over the crossbar. His form is a down arrow though. Not sure if that affects it much. Need to play more to compare.

https://forums.pesfan.com/showthread.php?243077-PES-2012-Guide-!!!

Found this rather extensive thread for PES2012

And a nice bit about shooting I suggest everybody who is having trouble with shooting reads.

Shots don't go where I want to because erm...I'm doing it wrong. Most people including myself probably have there finger more or less glued to the sprint button. Which it seems you can't have to choose the direction of the shot.

While sprinting take your finger OFF the sprint button, choose your direction you want the shot to go, press the sprint button again, hold and press shoot...and oh look it's gone where you want it to go. :D

DON'T SHOOT THEN APPLY THE SPRINT BUTTON this will result in you chipping the ball and looking like a bit of a nonce. I takes some practice, I have spent a hour in training mastering it.

For powerful long shots. You need to get a bit of space between you and the ball. you can tap sprint x3 if you have some open space or if you have a defender on you, to create a bit of space press RB+RT (R1+R2 for PS3) to push the ball out of your feet then hit shoot, remember like above, to choose the direction of the shot 1st before pressing sprint once again, hold and press shoot.

For dipping shots long or shot, do as above but the hold LT (L2 for PS3) and DOUBLE TAP shoot, if it's a long shot you ofc want to fill the power bar more so it's not as much a double tap rather than pressing shoot twice before your player makes contact with the ball. These shots are amazing with players with high shooting stats, as the ball dips and swerves making the keeper more often than not have to parry the ball out.

Have a read up and have a practice. No more lofty floaty shots for me :)

Going to try this technique on using direction of the shots. I will try using the different pad for shooting. So up and down, is that to direct it high or low, or is that to direct it left or right? As left or right i find it difficult to get it right.
