The Feel of Shooting

You take a shot, long range, close range, whatever.
The ball leaves your player's feet storming to the opposition goal.
Let's be honest, this is an euphoria PES has always been infamous for making you feel right?
Does PES 2011's shots makes you feel the same?
Do you like your shots? Do you feel it when you score via a well-taken shot?
Me? I miss PES 2010's shooting so much...:(

i think that the Commentator Will Hate Saying " This Shot Has Ballooned Into The Stand ..... Embarresing " Cause He will Say It Alot ............. Shoting IS Clearly Bad But We Can't Judge A Demo The Final Release Maybe Much More Different ........ And That Maybe Considered As A Hope ... :)

The shooting is really dissapointing, every shot seems to go over, even with the good players

I hope with a bit more practice i will improve.

I want to be able to smash it hard and low into the corner sometimes.

Also far to many fouls, u run into a player and they go down and its a foul.

Instead of complaining about them, why don't you take time and practice them? that's what I said at first, but now, I can shoot pretty good.
The only annoying thing is that when you throw a long lofted ball in the area for a striker, the player takes too much time to shoot and sometimes they shoot too wrong. That's my complaint.
But overall, I can score Robben style goals with robben, meaning hard low shots. You just have to be in the right position and you have to time it right. BTW pressing L2 after a shot will make shots stronger in power.
Pes 2010's shooting was WAY too nooby. You only had to press the button and you can score from anywhere.
I know pes 11' shooting has some problems, but it isn't as broken as some are saying. If YOU TAKE TIME TO PRACTICE, then you'll see that it is good.

You're right in saying that it takes time and effort to get used to this new shooting engine, it does. When I first started playing I was doing the same as everyone else - hitting the ball over the bar and calling the shooting shite. The shooting is actually not as bad as I initially thought, but it doesn't take away the fact that it is still bad, and definitely not as good as 2010s.

Now after a few game-hours practice I understand when it is suitable to press the shoot button and when it isn't, but regardless of this, your post makes out like the new shooting is a good thing in the sense that it's now better than in 2010. I think you're wrong because the shooting has lost appeal in the process of being made more challenging.

Also:
  • The connection between player animation and ball physics seems off. When the player hits the ball I often find that the trajectory just doesn't match how the player animation showed him strike it. Sometimes a player brings his foot through and round his body as if inside curling the shot only for the ball to move like he smashed it with the outside of his boot. Other times The player looks to get his body over the ball and hit it full force and the ball seems to slowly float up and arc down giving the keeper an easy save.

  • It's too predictable. I know 100% that if I take a shot and a defender is hassling me, or if i'm in an awkward position, or if the ball bounces strangely - it will be a bad shot. Whereas in PES 2010, in all of these situations there was still hope. Sometimes the shot went wide or wasn't how you hoped, but sometimes the player still gets that sweet connection, resulting in a decent effort or goal. It's this hope - this positive feeling of suspense where you don't know quite what will happen - that has been lost.

You can say this is too nooby or whatever, but it isn't, it's realism.

Well, from my so far experience, volley shots are a major pain in the ass.

I'Ve tried shooting from various passes (both ground and aerial) and the players make overall horrible shots from these, even the skileld ones like Villa, Messi etc.

The shooting does need improvement and yes it seems a bit off but all in all it's not that bad. IT'S MUCH BETTER THAN PES 10's. In pes 10 it was WAY TOO EASY and you could pass the ball and hit it first time and score almost everytime. In my opinion, that made the game much simpler and less sim.
Pes 11's shooting may not be great and yes it does need improvement, but it does require skill and the way you score is actually pretty realistic.
Also realism when taking a shot from an impossible angle and score???? NO. That's arcade because if it happened less times then it would be realistic but in pes 10 it happened way too often so it became arcade. That's not realistic at all.
I just scored 2 beautiful goals from outside the area in the last game I had. Yes 2 hard shots. One of them (Iniesta) was a top corner shot and the other was a hard low shot. So if you take time, you will score and I never knew I could score those. In both situations I didn't know I was gonna score so unpredictability is there unlike what you said.

The problem with volleys is the time the player takes to shoot. It's a bit too long.

try playing with the libertadores teams...

much more satisfying... and also gives you a better sense of when to shoot

I came across from FIFA10 to PES2010 and fell in love with the power of the strikes in PES... (always on top player) so many wonderful goals I have scored over the past 10months... I haven't stopped playing PES2010 (never looking back once at FIFA10)... I know PES2010 wasn't perfect but the sense of enjoyment you got from a sweet strike blew FIFA10 out of the water.

But now I really feel PES2011 in regards to shooting has kinda moved towards the light weight feel of FIFA, I can't put my finger on it but it just does not have that crack in the shot that PES2010 had. I have now played approx 15 games of the PES demo. I realise there is a learning curve with PES2011 that will include understanding shooting but still I am not too fussed with so many floaty shots...

to be continued =)

thing is pes2010 had shitty keepers and defense, the shots were fine in 2010, in 2011 its just a little awkward..I'm in the box got pass one defender, trying to slot it in the bottom corner...the ball floats right into the keeper's arm
thats not realistic, give torres, villa, messi that kind of space in real life, they'll score everytime.

That's when the R2 finesse shot comes in handy. Trust me. I know sometimes it still floats a bit and yes it is an issue that needs fixing, but try the R2 shot. First shoot, then press R2 for a finesse shot (placed shot like messi does in reality). The direction will be much better.
Still I feel that pes 2010's shots were a bit too accurate at times.

i worked out the shooting and mine dosnt go well over
you have to time the shot
like if you just tap at last second it wont be as good as if you planed for it
like in real life
try pressing the shot button just before you normally would
ie
if running fast
press after last touch the setup for the shoot
not just as you aporch the ball
it took a while to work out but i got it
like in real life if you rush a shot its going to be bad
but if you think about it prepare know you want to strike it will be good
same with volley
hit the button late and well you will swing your foot late
hit it early and you will swing your foot early
i find this shooting system to be much better once you work it out
adds more realism

PES 2011 shooting copied FIFA. Out of all the good aspects that ppl talk about in FIFA they had to copy the worst one! I feel like Im playing EA SPORTS when shooting in PES2011. CHANGE IT BACK TO THE PES STYLE BEFORE RELEASE!

I like the shooting in this game! I have scored afew screamers when you hit it flush! but its more realistic! how many games I watch in the EPL where players are hammering shots high and wide! They have made the shoot button more sensitive so its not easy to put the ball in the net 99.9% of the time! LOVE IT! :)

totally agree with the people saying you need time to practice. At first I must admit I did find it hard and did get rather annoyed, but the more i played it the more i found out how to shoot and keep them low. I have scored some really nice ones, especially with xavi.

From the start the only thing I didn't like in the demo was the shooting. I do notice that it is very possible to get a shot off that will give you the utmost satisfaction, you just have to be in really good position, with lots of time to shoot, which is hard to come by in this game.

I'm doing that already, yes sometimes it does go in, but not often enough
and yea like people said, the shooting does seem like fifa, probably the worst shooting experience i've had since i started playing winning eleven 10 years ago

Wow I'm surprised Pes 2010 is leading by that much. I thought the shooting in that was too heavy. In 2011 not every shot feels like a cannonball. Feels more realistic and rewarding to me.

ya in 2011 the shot feels like a beach ball flying in the wind, thats why 2010 is leading by that much.
