Should A Salary Cap Be Introduced in PES 2012 MLO?

I used to love playing Master League Online. The satisfaction I got from building up my team, grinding out wins against better teams, was something special. I could play game, after game, after game - and not get bored.

But those days are gone for me now. I still play MLO occasionally, but it seems that I can't get the same thrill that I did when I first started playing.

There's a few reasons why this has happened, but my main one is that I got tired of playing the super teams. I don't mind playing decent teams every now and then - don't get me wrong, it's a good challenge. But I can't stand playing (pretty much) the same team every game - I get enough of that during ranked games!

Understandably, with unlimited funds, people are always going to buy the same squad - give or take a few players. But naturally, I find it very tedious to run into teams where they have Pique defending at the back, Gerrard and Xavi in the middle, and Messi, Torres and Villa upfront.

This makes me feel that Konami should introduce a salary cap in MLO, to prevent players from getting the "perfect" team. A cap would be beneficial as people would have to think about which players to buy, and also which positions to invest in.

Here is an example of a "good team" with my suggested salary cap rule implemented:

Fabianski

Maicon Jagielka Pique Bridge

Nasri Cahill Gerrard Jesus Navas

Torres Gilardino

Appreciate that I spent about 2 minutes thinking of a team, so it may not be perfect. Despite that, I feel it illustrates my point well. It's a good team. Not great, not a poor one either. I would enjoy playing with this team. I would do well with this team - yet the challenge would remain.

Obviously, this idea is too late for the current title (we've already had way too many problems regarding MLO!) but I feel Konami should adopt a salary cap for PES 2012. It would make the game more fair, less boring and predictable, while also forcing players to make a choice whether they prioritise their forward players ahead of their defending players - or vice versa.

It would give us the chance to mix and match our teams, allowing MLO matches to be based upon recognising weaknesses in your opponents team and going from there.

I will certainly forward this on to Konami, and I'd appreciate your support if you agree with me. Either way, leave a comment to tell me what you think of the idea.

What do you guys think of the idea?

i think they should have a salary cap thats different for all divisions, with d1 having the highest cap

It would certainly add some much-needed balance to MLO, definitely something that should be looked into.

THIS x 100.

Seriously the current set up is so retarded the only reward for being good is that you get a good team slightly faster than 'Mr Sausage fingers'...

In a division based system it would also mean demotion was a real thing to be avoided cause youd have to offload players.

Of course for this to work Konami would also have to overhaul the retarded points award and ranking systems to be fairer than they currently are.

yeah, right now being in division 1 really doesnt mean anything to me, i have a good squad but i'm playing people with best in position players in div 5 and 4..div1 is also useless when they don't even have a fucking div1 cup in the american region

I'm a bit on the fence here. I perfectly understand the arguments in favor, some very good points.

But do we really want to completely prevent super teams from ever being made? I think perhaps the cap could raise over time, so that say 6 months after release you could technically afford the best player in each position.

Or have the cap only apply to tournaments, so if you want a super team you'll have to do with quick matches or a new special type of tournament without any wage cap.

i actually have no problem with people with a super starting 11, in fact my starting 11 is pretty awesome, but it gets kinda retarded when you see these people in d4 or d5 with like 30 players that are worth more than 6 mil at least, i can confidently say that these guys are all cheaters, i've played way too much and i just recently started getting subs after i built a good starting 11

What I dont get is why are all these people with the dream team 11's still playing? Every other team in D1 has Messi Arshavin Ronaldo etc.. Ive been playing this game sinse launch and sinse have a £100mill+ squad etc, and the only players I have from the top 30 market value list are Casillas, and Chellini, and Recently Higuain has made it in there aswell.

I get the impression people dont spend hours scouting like I have, and have just simply searched for the players with highest overal, bang sign sign sign...
No thought or skill required. Thats my opinion of Division 1's majority. Its a shame.. but there are many fruitless people out there who are obviously are unaware of players who are not main stream etc.

i agree with you, its kinda retarded every team i play in division 1 is basically the same

We don't need a salary cap.

It takes a long time and a lot of games to come up with the money to get these big players and squads. So since you don't have as good a squad you want to limit everyone else? No.

You have to pay more per game if your squad is expensive. It's balanced out.

If someone wants to play for 1 week non-stop and assemble the dream team that's their option. If you want to keep your squad not as expensive and search for unknowns, that's your choice too. The point is you have a choice.

If your squad is poor, you will naturally be in the lower divisions against other teams that are poor (or the human player is poor if they have a good squad at a low division). You can be in D1 and have a bad run and end up back in D5. So if you run into someone with an amazing team in D5 well shit happens. It's not cheating and it's not unbalanced.

So people are complaining about seeing the same people in D1 squads.. well those players are the best players so OBVIOUSLY people are going to go for them. What is the problem? You want to be able to tell people, NO you can't pick Rooney, I'm sick of seeing him and he's too good. That's your complaint?

I will bet $100 that if Konami introduced a salary cap in 2012, not only would people be bitching about it and petitioning to have it removed from 2013, some of the SAME PEOPLE here asking for a salary cap would be against it. No doubt in my mind.

I think some people are just sick of seeing the same teams over and over.

Not enough originality with teams or lineups. Hell I'd like MLO if it had random generated players, with the players developing across the entire online community.

As it is now, most people play the same style of football, play with the same teams (barca, real), and play with the same players. Every game played is almost identical, which is uninspiring for some people.

The simple ability to be able to make custom kits that others can see would make the game more interesting. Or making competitions rare. Or only letting users sign certain caliber players for each division (would Messi really play for a 5th tier team?), this is already implemented in Master League, I figure some sort of stat could be used to measure a team's popularity and ability to sign better players.

No sorry it is not balanced out, with the best players in the game, i can probably play with one hand and beat 90% of the people with default squads and that will be enough to keep the team running, even if I'm totally horrible at this game

no there is no complaint, and i'm not saying that no you can't use this player, i just said its retarded, like how i say people that play 6 up front are retarded, but should they be stopped from doing that?no

well look at the bigger picture, for sure there will be people who are against it, but what my idea is that there should be a salary cap that is determined by the division that you are in so that being in division 1 actually means something instead of just having a little tag that says D1. I'm sure that the majority of people would like that idea, i also like the idea that the players you can sign is determined by the division you are in. However in doing that, it will need to make promotion and regulation easier.
