slow defenders catching up to fast players

ok, I understand they want to limit the Messi cheesing but cmon! I had a counter attack yesterday, Ibra, with Messi I send Messi on a run seemingly for a 1 on 1 with the goalie and out of no where one of the Bayern defenders (forgot his name) runs Messi down like nothing. I though wow, maybe Messi's condition is bad, I pause the game, check and Messi's arrow is orange. This seemed to happen in older PES games as well but this year it seems too exagerrated. LOL if Messi is in the open field no one is catching him!

PES 2011 is all about passing mate, 1 touch football and slick through balls. Master those then you won't have to worry. Besides I can beat at least 2 players with Messi using feints and tricks, it's the shooting which is the downside. The shots are too weak.

Thats the thing that kind of bothers me. The great thing about messi is that he can get past defenders by changing his speed or path while running. Have you ever seen Messi using a trick like the rainbow flick or anything? I agree that it's just about the passing but not being able to outrun badstuber while being messi is a bit unrealistic. Badstuber has 72 in speed while Messi has 82 in speed and 98 in dribble speed. Still badstuber is able to overtake Messi when he's on a run. A bit cheap.

Meh. Maybe it's just the demo, they wanted to make the game SEEM harder than it is to get more costumers? Give me a week and I'll find out. :happy:

Oh yea, this also affects Robben and makes him look like a trash player because his strong point is running with the ball at pace, if he doesn't have that then Robben is pretty useless. Also, Badstuder is underated and why is he made to be a CB? He's a LB.

E.F.C Pes 11 has many feints that messi does like simple body movements and simple change of directions. I use those when I am with messi and it looks real. I don't attempt to beat a defender with a rainbow flick or step overs with messi.
So you can achieve messi dribbling in pes 11 demo.
Also, the defenders closing down messi seems weird, and yeah annoying, but it's what keeps balance. Well at least for this year.
Maybe next year, the'll work on that and try to keep the defending pretty solid aswell.

When I'm on a break and one on one with the keeper and I'm getting caught up if you double tap the run button, it pushes the ball alittle bit in front of the player making you move that little bit quicker.

thats besides the point, yes I love passing and working my team to get chances but realistically speaking slow defenders shouldn't be able to catch up to guys like Messi, Eto, Ronaldo etc etc its just silly! If I pass it around and create space with one of my attackers it should be rewarded. If my scheme to free up my players is better than your defense tough! My opponents lack of defensive skill shouldn't be rewarded with this system of "catch up". Its a big thumbs down IMO!

Can anyone attest to this being in the final version cause its annoying me in the demo. Setting up beautiful plays and then being unable to finish because of slow defenders who suddenly get super speed!

I agree with DIECI..
Tested and confirmed after several matches.
A slow defender can overtake a quick attacker, even if his acceleration and speed value is lower..

It's been in every PES I've played, going back to at least WE9/PES5. Wish they'd fix it, but they never do.

You guys theres nothing wrong with the speeds. Just listen to this guy and tap R1 between touches. This allows Messi to knock the ball further on, making him run faster!

Just running with one player ain't realistic anyway, a nice through-pass to a running player beats anything in my eyes.

I'm inclined to say that the shots aren't that weak in the final game to be honest. I started a BAL character and at 81 Shot Power rating he's shooting fairly hard (Chosing the Finisher type gives you good shooting stats to begin with).

Also, when I'm on the break, and I got a decent speed going, I rarely get outrun by defenders who started running at the same time as me.

However, some defenders have some speed going before you even get the ball.

The defenders aren't Sonic the Hedgehog, you can outrun them if you position yourself properly.

This is not a bug - it has been said many times that pro evo 'cheats'. They designed it to do this so as to give the game some controversy when all it does is make you angry.
