small forwards and wingers are now useless

Small forwards and wingers with dribbling skill have now become useless in this game..

Owen is a perfect example, relies on getting through balls and taking on players with skill and pace... in this game it destroys those aspects, too many delays even with a dribbling skill of 90+ a player cannot turn going at slow speed instantly, a player cannot knock the ball on from a pass to round a player... and a player cannot retain position at speed at all.

I can only be effective when i buy all big strong forwards and shoot all goals from range.

You're doing it wrong.

Pass the ball around, and look the the gap in the defense and make a sweet through ball. Or play on contra attacks.

Yes we should change the way we play, I usually playing PES 2009 with Juventus because Del Piero is master of ball controlling, but now in PES 2010, I have to choose Real Madrid because C.Ronaldo seems to be a perfect goalkeepers killer, :( he run and shoot like going around in a market.

So your saying theres no place in the team for the players who rely on using skill to create a chance or space... Go tell Barcelona to stop letting Messi dribble because it doesnt work anymore...

If you can use them well they are too effective... Play from the middle (not from flanks) and use through balls (especially by right analog sticks).. quick players get into position so easily...
You have to leave the habit of going from flank and making crosses all the time.. Think it as real football.. When u used to play like that, the game is totally awesome except inconsistent refree decissions..

Maybe you need to practice some more. Dont get me wrong i am having the same problem but when ever my attack goes wrong i see a open player or gap in the defence where i could have placed the ball.

I disagree with this thread, in 09 someone as small as messi could just walk past even the strongest defender just because of his high dribbling/speed stats (even if his body balance was s**t but in pes10 the smaller forwards i.e Owen, really have to work and make thier own space. If they just charge at defenders like in 09 they know about it!

I can totally see how using wingers and individual attributes seems useless. But rather than saying its unfair, I believe it is realistic. There are few players in the world that are so fast that every time they get the ball nobody can touch them. Same with dribblers, even ronaldinho in his prime pass the ball rather than do a move to get around a defender.

When running down the flanks, its good to alternative R1 and R2 as you are running down the line. It will prevent the CPU from going into tackling. If you have a fast player like Ribery, he won't be able to simply outrun defenders because the CPU will push you off the ball before you can get away. By alternating between R1 and R2 and giving your player various speeds, it will throw the opponent off.

This is what works for me. and even occasionally, i surprise myself with a cool move and get between defenders. This makes it enjoyable just as in a real game there are only a few moments of brilliance.

tbh i have got a thorugh ball in to owen and scored but it doesnt work everytime cause in real life he wont run at defenders and he is always there for the rebounds

Yup, you must adapt to the new gameplay, i having the same feeling for the first day when received the game. But after three days played more than 80 matches, i would say that this new gameplay just great.

FYI, you must fully utilise your midfield player such as fabregas or someone else, try to pass the to CM, then try to move around ball looking to the striker, pass to them and let the striker pass it back to you CM, then once again pass the ball and move ( pressR1) i'm sure will get the gap easily and 1 on 1 opportunity as well. Try to not get yourself in rush or hard try to let the ball forward. It useless, as you can see arsenal or any other football team in real world playing the similar style as well.

Are you sure we're playing the same game? Players such as Messi & Robinho are as deadly as ever in PES 2010. I love the fact you can't pick the ball up with a player like Owen and run past half the opposition. Beacuse he doesn't do this in real life, and hasn't done it for the last 6 years!! You have to choose the right player to go on mazy runs such as Lennon or Wright Phillips.

couldn't disagree wih you more. Lennon and Wright Phillips are still absurdly easy to use: sprinting down the flanks using their pace and quick turning ability.

ps: Owen isn't that quick anymore, and doesn't really dribble past people. You're about 8 years too late...

what I do to bust past defenders is double tap sprint, and it knocks the ball forward more and bursts after it! it seems to be quicker then just normally sprinting with the ball! but u have to time it right or the defender will just put a leg out as u kick it infront of u! and use the left trigger to turn sharper, works a treat!
