Just being playing online for the first time....what a game...won 12 lost 3 and drawn 4. Scored some nice goals, scored plenty of lucky one's too, but hey that's the beauty of football. Right place at the right time........see you all when I get to the No. 1 spot (I wish) Despite it's issues, it is the greatest football game so far.

Quite a rant. You miss the point though. The Ps2 and the Xbox are limited. Plus it would just take too long to do. And Konami have budgets and deadlines as well, so get off their case. Besides, it's still the best football game out. So have a coke, and shut the fuck up. :D

I understand your point, but they are using virtually the exact same engine and game as they did last time around, and the changes I am talking about are not exactly groundbreaking ones by any means.

Come on, the goalkeeper being able to dop the ball?? Not something that would require them to go right back to the drawing board is it? And what about the throw in system? They had it fine until they started messing around with it, and it just seems they can't be bothered putting it right again.

The things I have mentioned are not things which would require much more than a little effort to put into the game, or put right. I reckon it has much more to do with the fact that they are looking towards the PS3 than it does with their inability to actually pull these things off.

Although I admit that some of you points are true like commentary and such, but I feel you don't have as good and undertanding of the game as you think you have as a so called 'veteran' player.

For instance you make a big deal that GK can't drop a ball when in possession. Well, I'cant recall the command exactly but its either R1/R2 to drop it at his feet after catch. And this HAS been there since the last 2 versions I think. And you can now also launch long throws on cammand too, by either holding X or L1+X.

Cheers

Players penalised for legitimate tackles. Souunds a lot like Ref Riley, mate. PES5 is just unbelievablky realistic. Case in point: SUPER FRANK. His free kick style does not apply to any other player in game. Try passing at a corner, and its simply real. Drogba runs into people, somehow gets the ball and trips over himself. JT jumps about 2m to head away from Crouch, and Gudjohnson flicks it over his head and smacks it in top corner. Commentry's useless, but have you heard motty recently?

they should have Kris Camara and that guy who does the darts, Sid somone, now that would be entertaining commentary. they both go absolutly phycho excited over nothing, would make entertaining listening anyway.
OR
have the guy from soccer a.m who does the spanish football comentary, you know who i mean the one who shouts "ping" when beckham crosses the ball and goes "ronaldo ronaldo ronaldo, gol gol gol" when ronaldo scores.

just a thought, it would raise a smile non the less

The only thing that really pisses me off about this game is the fact they have moved the R2 ball control function from previous versions to normal D-pad control. (i.e I end up accidentally sidestepping when all I want to do is run forward, very shit!). Konami only reason for doing this is for the PSP version which doesn't have an R2 button. They should have kept it as it was for the PS2......it's only resulted in an amazing amount of sidesteps in any games. Not very realistic. All players look like they are trying to join the carnival. Before, this button also gave you an option for a quick turn, which doesn't seem to be possible anymore...shame.

Apart from this, the commentary is poo (which can be turned off) and the crowds sounds and animations are a little bit cheap (stadiums can be emptied_thank god). It's actually quite atmospheric if you do this, lets gameplay become a focal point. Everything else in the game is spot on! referees possibly need to get their eyes checked...thats about it.
