not all of them . u dont need cards like speed merchant , fox in box , incisive run etc. but there are some which could change gameplay like long ranger helped in long shots in the previous game . and talisman/ enforcer makes ur teammates more offensive / defensive when u have the ball . and when u do get any card can u turn them on/off ??

shaliesh there are different types of card: there's the first (grey) one - balanced, attacking or defensive. You start off with this card, and as far as I can tell it doesn't have much effect since it controls style of play (which you obviously control in BAL).
The green cards are the one you can earn during BAL. These include one-touch play, one-on-one finishing, slide tackle, etc. These make your player better at certain things, so when you shoot they will be more accurate, for example. There are a lot of these cards to earn, and you get them based on your position and attributes. These cards can't be turned off, but you wouldn't want to anyway, they only make your player better technically and don't affect his style of play.
The red * cards, like anchor man, speed merchant etc. control how the computer controls your player in other modes, when you're controlling a different player. For this reason, they are irrelevant to BAL since you control your player all the time. You can't earn these cards therefore, and these are the only cards you can switch on or off in other modes.

hmm..i wish there was a guide or something for this .sorry to drag this on but the cards like speed merchant , mazing run , incisive play are supposed to work when u have the ball (atleast in the animation thingy ) but when u have the ball u control the player thus they r useless . i'm talkin mainly about master league as we cant these cards in bal .

I suspect Quick Turn is affected by agility, because I got it some time during the first season on my WF/CF.
I started with 92 Agility, but it may also be a combination of agility and dribbling.
I trained some dribbling early on in the season and got it to 70.
I don't really know how to get them, really... but the only abilities I find really useful is Passer and 1-touch play.
Passer makes your passes MUCH more precise, 1-touch play allowes you to make those incredible volleys and first time shots more regulary.

^yeah, but he said he got 8.5 before in some other thread..i mean, i'm not sure if it's possible, cause i've never seen it before, but i've also never seen a 4.5 score before yesterday, after i deliberately played horrible (scoring autogoals, getting a red card,..)..so i guess it is possible to get an even higher score if playing really, really well (staying in your own designated area, making no mistakes, scoring and assisting,..)..and considering how hard it is to get the 8.5 in theory (since getting an 8.0 is a chalenge enough already), i figured maybe the stats you get for it could be a bit more generous (cause i've never seen an agility stat above 89 aswell)

^8.5 to my knowledge is not possible. I made a test similar to the one I made in 09.
I started a new BAL WF again but in beginner. I scored over 6 goals and had 3 assists and never made a mistake and the rating was an 8.0. So unless someone proves with a photo, an 8.5 in the scout match is not possible.

8.5 is possible, I've seen it several times in both PES2009 and 2010, and more frequently in pes2010.
However, Ive not seen it in a while and I've been playing with a modified OF "Professional" that is made harder to avoid Top Player because it cheats too much and the defender catch up is absolutely abysmal for my enjoyment of BAL.
So i suspect you can only get 8.5 in Top Player, wich brings me to suspicion of a 9.0 rating at Super Human level...
Anyway, 8.5 is confirmed and I don't really feel the need to prove it. Just play the damn game as a team player and worry less about the goals and you'll get it.
