Starting Stats

I think it would be good if you had some control over your starting stats in BAL, like in FIFA's Become a Pro game mode.

In other words, you still have the default ProEvo templates for the different positions, but you can move points between different skills if you want.

The current templates don't offer much flexibility - its quite difficult for example to turn a CF into one who is a dribbling expert when you're always handicapped by a low agility score.

I'm not saying that I want control over which stats improve throughout my career - that makes it too easy and is also quite unrealistic IMO. I like the fact that in BAL I have to choose training to focus on certain areas of skills. I'd just like some more control over my starting abilities.

What do other people think?

I've never experimented but is your starting stats completly random? Does your weight and height have anything to do with it or how well you do in your first game?

I had a bad first game, my created player is a 8ft monster but I got a good starting pace (81) and stamina (81) so I kept at it.

stats random this year

last year the starting stats were affected by your first game, i played 2-3 times until i had a player with at least 84 stamina and 85 speed... this year it seems to be random and again agility doesnt improve... i find that if u want an ideal forward with pace and agility it is best to choose wing forward as your starting position...

^But then all the teams will play you on the right side, no matter which side you choose. That's an annoying glitch.
Anyway as for starting stats. I do not see them that random. They depend on the starting position and rating in the end.

Chelsea and the England national team plays me on the left.

You and your glitch...

I started as a WF and I've only ever played as a CF or SS for Lazio and AC Milan respectively.

^But that's not what I meant. CF or SS aren't a side based positions. They are center based. But also, on which side of the center play do you play?

very true, although iv chosen to be a lwf (left footed) i keep being played rmf.. it ruins the whole point of choosing a left footed player...

^Finally someone like me. Though my player is right footed, I wanted to be like Nedved, a right footed player playing on the left. In pes I find it more comfortable for shooting if you play like that, but the glitch ruins it as every team plays you on the right.

I FINALLY got the game today, and first thing after some editing, was BAL.

I created myself, basically. 6'7", 235 lbs, position DMF. My starting stats were strange. Attack/defense/passing all in the high 50s to 60s, but 87 stamina, 80 mentality, ~73 speed/accel/dribble acc/speed, and 90 agility! What the hell. I expected maybe unusually high body balance (as PES usually associates height/weight with BB) or header/jump (which were both around 70), but how on earth did it come up with 90 agility? And what the hell am I supposed to do with that at my size and playing in the middle of the park? :shocking:

90 Agility! You have been very lucky... Everything else can be improved. You will be a beast in the middle of the park :D

after the scout match, the three status will not change.

Agility, aggressive, tenacity

usually WF can get agility 85.
But I think tenacity is much more important.
So it is amazing to get agility 90 for a DMF :-O

If you want agility, make a winger or SMF. CM gets decent agility as well. I started out as a winger, mainly because of the high agility, and I worked towards improving Agility and Tenacity in the scout match. The way I do that is by doing as many sharp turns as possible while in possession of the ball, and never actually losing the ball but passing it on by making conservative passes (special control + short pass) to unmarked teammates. I try to conserve stamina at all costs, by doing this I usually start with low stamina (73-76ish) but Tenacity quite high (86-88) wich pays of bigtime once your stamina are in the 80's.

Always use "special control" button while you recieve passes, and if you want to get even more starting technique do a few step overs and drag the ball back a lot. (double-tap backwards then forward is one variation) You don't need any opponents in the vicinity to get the stat-payoff for pulling off these moves. I usually get 67-74 starting technique, depending on the starting position.

During the course of the scout match (I always play 10 minute scout matches) I usually manage to get at least a goal or assist and rarely play below 7.0.

Zaragoza, Bordeaux, Aston Villa and Napoli are the best starter clubs in my opinion, I have even played my whole career in a starter club twice. (Bordeaux and Zaragoza) because those clubs offer really good entertainment compared to many other clubs I've tried.

PS. If you want to play as CF or SS, but also want Agility in the 80-90 area, make a WF and focus on typical striker abilities early on in the career. Obviously stick to a club that doesen't employ WF's and even better if they don't use SMF either. Once you got SS and / or SS position ticked you can join more or less any club, and get picked for SS or CF position.

Personally I don't really care what position I play, I only change my approach to the game slightly depending on wether I'm playing SMF, AMF, SS or CF.

SMF offer the easiest way to get good ratings though, just dribble and cross the ball alot. Doesen't matter if your srikers actually connect to the crosses but it's a plus, obviously.

PPS. This is how I do it, there may be ways to get even better results from the starting match, but I feel my approach is quite good and a very easy way tostart a career.
