Sort It OUT! before thinking of adding eye candy

Well i've just come back from the field and have found some more bugs or stupid game making that really needs to be sorted.

For starters i hate how at random the wall will not jump with a freekick and just watch it go in the back of the net. I don't know a team in the world who would do that. This is supid game making and who ever thought they should put this in should be shot.

I also hate how they will sometimes not pay attention to where you want to go. You could press down but they would go diagnol down and then down but other times would just come straight down. This is pretty stupid and shows you never have 100% control of the players.

Another point is the AI on changing player for you. This is appauling you will be just about to intercept the ball or have a defender coming across and it will change it to someone who has no affect on the situation. This has lost me many a goal.

The fouls are also appauling aswell sometimes there greatly timed but a foul is given. Others are a really bad challenge but this time it isn't given. The worst for me is how they come running through the back of you. In real life this would be given for a foul everytime.

With all these bugs and appauling out of date players. I mean fifa came out the same day but had all the rosters to a key. I really think Konami have been lazy this edition with the appaulingly bad kits and rosters. IMO this is a step back for the PES series........which i am very sad to say:(

The licensing needs sorting. I'd also love to be able to play English Prem and Div 1, 2, 3 in the master league. Can't they do a deal with the Championship Manager boys to feed in the data and keep it up to date? The edit mode should be restructured - pool of editable players, who you can then assign to club and country. Presentation overall is poor.

Gameplay is the key thing though.

Tackling needs to be improved, especially pressuring a player. To counter it, I'd like to see L1 used to shield the ball, both in possesion and letting the ball run out of play.

Crosses need to be whipped in more, with my strikers making runs to the near post. Automatic curl on crosses and shots for players with high curling ability kciking with their good foot.

Duration of button presses - I hate doing a long ball to find that it has decided I will fill the bar to max. Set pieces could be better, e.g. free kicks with pre-set plays.

Shooting could be improved. Pulling the joystick away from goal to keep the shot down is not intuituive to me - to me that should be used to lift it over the goalie. If you are unpressured, then pointing towards goal and hitting the button hard shouldn't automatically blast the ball over the bar. Same with headers - should be easier to header downwards. I'd rather see greater percentage of hooking and slicing for players with poor shooting ability or under defensive pressure.

Through balls - crucified in PES2.

Still, love the game!

coach and bench

I think coach and bench animations should be added, as well as referees and linesmens..
More players should also have caracteristics moves like beckham and roberto carlos. Figo's hunchback style, etc....
Player's hair could move while running and turning..

league-mode with club teams

I think in pes3/we7 should exist the option to play "league-mode" with club-teams either, or the "round-robin in konami-cup" in a full-season mode (first half-season and second half-season, home and away) to play like in real national-leagues!

what's it worth having the whole teams of a national league downloaded or hardly self-constructed and then there is no possibility to play a full season, that's boring...

or does it even exist in pes2 and i haven't found out yet? don't think so, what about we6fe?

nice day

OK here are some improvements for pes3 I'll try not to say ideas that was already mentioned

1) obviously better commentery , actually a new commentator would be better

2) better crowd reactions. if the home team is winning then maybe the crowd could cheer every pass after 60, 70 minutes

also crowd chants and songs like in fifa 2003 and if the crowd chanted players names such as 'KEANO' etc

crowd could look better too

3) better edit kits option, like this is football 2003

4) how about getting rid of the flags in the corner of the screen and replacing it with the actual names for the scoreboard.

5)shots and long passes should be much faster. maybe in the options you could speed up or slow down gameplay

6) in fifa if u press L1 then a player makes a run perhaps something similar in pes3

7) better graphics with camera men at intro

8) referees and lines men. and in injury time the 4th official could hold up the board indicating how longs left

9) design international kits and design boots

10) design-a-club

11)transfers. there should be a option where you can update teams.
eg. rio ferdinand went to united but u cant really change it

PS CAN ANY OF OUR IDEAS BE SENT OFF TO KONAMI

All great ideas........I would like to see a new system implemented that deals with the stupid pause after being tackled.

It would be better with a new system whereby the players react differently according to how tired they are. At the beginning of the match they would get tackled but immediately turn and try and win the ball back just like in real life, but after the 70th minute, or when the energy bar is low, they should just give up every now and again. This could also be related to the players aggressivness.

What do you think? Not that hard to implement into the game is it?:)

The free-kick replays from the side (?) need to be removed before I go mad.....what is the point when the camera can't keep up?

i think that designing international club kits is a must, and so is an extended editing mode which allows modification of the player commentary.

I will update the first page of the suggestions soon...

I definately think that KONAMI should ditch the manual pass and make the R3 button a manual skill button. Depending on the movment of your player in relation to the direction the R3 button will determine a shimmy, or a Nutmeg, somthing like that anyway? what do you lot think?

I also think they should add some of the lower leagues, ie the Nationwide etc. taking you team from the depths of division3 or playing in the FA Cup is far more exciting than playing a shoddy world league. whether they design it as part of the game make-up or whether they include it in the editing suite i dont care but they should at least give you the option.

And finally, please sombody tell KONAMI to sort out the Commentary and Team Call names, Arsenal are Arsenal not London!!!!! as are Cetic, Cetic and not Celt!!!

What about a volley stat? Unless the ball goes straight to a player at waist height they don't do a decent power volley. Most of them tend to just poke a leg at the ball as the cross comes in. The likes of Robbie Carlos, Shearer and Hasselbaink would power it in.

1)The game does need more skills but only the selky players such as Aimar,Zidane,Rivaldo,Henry etc should have the ability to perform tricks at a hifg standard.

2) It needs a full liscence to allow for proper leagues such as the premiership, la liga, and serie A, but the master league should remain, as it is just pure quality.

3) refs and linesmen should be on the pitch, offside decsions should be controversial sometimes. And the anger should be shown from the bench with more animations as well as dis-allowed goals.

4) Payers should improve with age in championship manager way, o player such as Jenas, Rooney, Saviola stats will improve as they grw older.
Is there any way KONAMI CAN SEE OUR SUGGESTIONSger

As far as I know, Hitman is going to send the finished list of sugestions to Konami. He better get a move on though, Pro Evo 3 is released in November 2003.

Any chance of a final edition to print out and compare with the game when it's released?:)

all these suggestions are fantastic,
o woul d aldso like to see an option to adjust how left/right foted a player is, since frequently a player like van nistelooy who can score with either foot in rela life, will frequently fluff it in the game, while vieri who CANT use his right can still score.
HEADERS MUST BE IMMPROVED.
Vieri, nistelrooy, kluivert do NOT miss headers. Frequently in the game they cant even connect. Very frustrating.

wow lot's of great ideas there guys here's a few ideas i'd like to see
1.More varied injuries ranging from niggly kicks to full blow broken legs also what about accidental collisions
2.The ability for defenders to pull strikers shirts maybe have it where by the longer you hold the button the longer the player pulls the shirt obviously hold it too long the striker will go down maybe implement a dive option as well.
3.what about going to the corner flag and putting your foot on the ball to shield it i've seen this in Fifa
4.2 footed tackles
a more responsive dummy a lot of times you'll try this only to find it seems to take an age to get control of your player
5.zidan'e 360 swivel obviously only for the highly skilled player's
6.ability to chest the ball down on PES on PS 1 you can only head the ball when it's in the air never bring it down on your chest

Do you think KONAMI should implement new formations (or formation variations) and new positions in WE7? So far from what I've read, it seems that now we're going to be able to have wingers in the midfield like in real life formations (e.g 4-4-2)...

For starters I would like to see the default 3-5-2/3-4-3 formations corrected for once and for all. The real life formations have wingbacks and not sidehalfs...this will force the creation of a new position: wingback (duh!)...so no more unrealistic positions for players like R. carlos SB/SH------instead R.Carlos WB/SB... J. Zanetti is more suitable for an SB/WB/SH given that he can play in midfield in a 4-4-2 in real life...and so on

I know some people are going to say that all of this can be done by postion edit, fwd arrows, etc...but like in real life if there are WG'S nad SH's, I also expect to have WB's and SB's....

I also would like to see this new position: the 2nd striker/ the man behind the main striker...and therefore the famous 4-4-1-1 formation... again people are going to say that all of this can be done by postion edit, fwd arrows, etc either modifying the 4-5-1 or the 4-4-2....but again this type of player (it's actually more of a role) is not quite a natural OH (Zidane) or a natural CF (Ruud van Nistelrooy) is something more like in between (a half forward maybe?--- "HF"--- hehe). I'm talking about Raul, Jose Mari, Bergkamp, Totti, Del Piero...therefore Raul: HF, Kluivert: CF/HF, Bergkamp: HF/CF, Totti: HF/OH, Scholes: CH/OH/HF...and so on... given that it is a role it would be more like a position that you directly modify in the formation menu (like when playing with a lib or a sw) son by pressing to the rght or to the left when a CF is highlighted it will change...

These are my ideas sort of...

My Pes3 Suggestions
-First of all put Tottenham Hotspurs in the game, they are one of the more famous teams from the Premiership and they dont seem to be on the game!

-One other improvement that should be implimented into pes3 is most definately the kits and player liscenses having full fifpro liscenses,as a lot of people that prefer the fifa series prefer it because of the full player liscensing, and to make the kits as accurate as possible i.e the numbers and names from the particular league that they play in maybe even sponsors but thats not an essential the way the kits look and the names/numbers are most important
-More stadiums and atmosphere chants for the teams maybe some of the songs that the fans actually chant!!!, and pitch ageing so during the master leaue the pitch will be ripe and green at the begginin but the more use and the more damaged it becomes and also in the rain big chunks would be broken off! thats all I have for now but more will come soon!

Also with the new game i dont personally think that having shirt pulling and handball options will help the flow of the game none of your mates cheating there way to victory taking whats so special about pes out of the game just keep this in mind thanx!!

tottenham are very average, no offence. if only 64 of the best teams from the world can be in pes3.... i really have to question whether spurs deserve to be one of them.

as for licenses.... ive said it before and ill say it again. konami cant just go out and buy a license like they would candy.... its not only very expensive, but also hard to obtain since fifa will be reluctant to give it to any one other than the ea games.

special abilitis for some players, like zidane, veron and rui costa's 360 swivel;
also, diferent dribbling style as in real life for the most famous players (figo's hunchback, raul's face down, zidane legs spread, etc...);
a refere, linesmans and bench action;
and no more those stupid breaks of the players that are near the ball and just stand there looking with no reaction .

Things I'd like to see in PES3

My suggestions:

- Improved shooting animation; players really connect with the ball and both legs leave the ground to generate the power. Also, when players chip the keeper, they don't just stop dead, but rather keep on jogging off to the side, like Beckham against Macedonia, making it look more stylish.

- Obviously, improved kits, rosters and licensing

- Ability to do the cheeky chip down the middle of the goal when taking a penalty

- Signature moves; Zidane 360, Henry chip-and-volley, Rivaldo chest and bycicle kick, Ronaldo superquick-stepover, Okocha's shimmy, Brazilian's Elastico maneouver

- In Master League, you can use your points not only to sign players, but to improve your stadium, thus get more fans coming to your matches, providing you with extra revenue.

- Improved volley system; when a player with high technichal and balance ability (bergkamp, henry, zidane) receives, say, a chest-high ball they are able to control the ball into the air, and volley it with REAL power. Not the crappy bobblers seen in PES2. Perhaps players could have a volley stat. Maybe something like the volleys in Fifa World Cup 2002, except more realistic.

- Ability for skilled players to flick high balls over opponents heads and run behind them Matt Le Tissier style.

- Players with extremely high technique stats can bring long balls down dead almost immediately. I was using Thierry Henry in PES2, who has a technique stat of 96, yet he still seems to take ages to control a simple chipped pass. Players with his skill should be able to take high balls on their chest, knee, or foot in their stride without losing alot of speed. A perfect example is when Solskjaer takes a long ball on his chest in real life. He takes it IN HIS STRIDE and the ball drops to his feet perfectly without a significant drop in pace.

- Implement a new star ability, called style. Players with this star simply ooze class and are able to do certain skills unique to that player that no other player can do.

- Unique player movement eg. Zidane's loping stride, Rivaldo's ungainly but effective movement, Figo's hunchback style, Vieira's gallop, Henry's gliding strides, Owen's arms swinging at his sides

- Ability to transfer players between club teams without hassle

- Ability to call players up to the national squad without having to base copy them first

- Better commentary; Martin Tyler, John Motson. I would just love to hear specific commentary for big teams eg. "Real Madrid are considered by many to be best club in the world. They have a tradition of excellence spanning a century, and possess some of the finest players on the planet. Let's see what their opponents can do stop the Spanish masters", or "Arsenal's football is some of the most attractive you'll see in England, and they are real contenders for major honours."
Also, commentators could really talk up big cup finals, perhaps show both teams paths to the finals, and some highlights of both team's campaigns.

- You actualy get to train promising players, in a kind of mini-game like the Umbro PTC, where the higher point score you get, the more attributes you can assign to the promising player.

- Certain strikers making more intelligent runs in behind the defence . In PES2, I find that most strikers just sit on the defensive line right next to their marker, making it near impossible to slide a ball through without it getting intercepted. Perhaps an 'attack movement', or 'attack awareness' stat could be introduced, so that certain strikers (eg. Owen, Henry, Solskjaer) bend their runs, make runs along the back line of the defence before peeling off, and pull out wide before cutting back in, leaving the responsibility of timing the through ball or chip to the user controlled player. This would make the through ball system alot more rewarding, and would also make for some stylish goals. All too often I find in PES2 that I can't put a decent ball through because my strikers are too static, and I finally get up to the 18-yard box only to be crowded out due to lack of space. More intelligent striker runs would be a very good idea to prevent this. Imagine someone like Henry, running along the backline into a space between two defenders, then starts to bend his run. As soon as you see him start to do that, hit ^, or L1+^ to put a ball through perfectly for him, and he leaves the defence for dead as he accelerates towards goal, just like in real life. Conversely, AI defence might need to be stepped up a notch to counter such movement, with defenders dropping off and keeping an eye on the runner, but only the most intelligent and quick strikers will be able to make the most effective runs. It would also make it alot more fun to defend against such runs, with the user controlled player having to judge when the opponent's striker is about to peel so that they can effectively play an offside trap or drop off and try to cut out the though ball.

- Ability to edit the names of the stadiums

Penalty kicks should be like normal freekicks (using the power bar, adding curve or power, high or low) That would be more realistic than the current penalty kick system that's been going on in the WE series for some years now....players should also take runs before they kick like in real life (Short runs: F. de Boer/Figo; Long runs: van Nistelrooy; Maybe some personal run styles for Rivaldo, Figo, Beckham )
