Tackling players dribbling at you from the wing.

After taking a year or two off from PES (and all soccer/football games) I bought 2015 and fired up ML.

My biggest problem so far seems to be defending wingers who are driving at me with the ball from the outside toward the goal. I know you can't just spam "X" anymore to make a tackle, which is fine. However I can't even seem to stay in front of a player in this situation, let alone tackle them without a double team.

Any suggestions?

To add to that, only use X when you want to make the tackle. I specifically had the problem you have. I can defend it alot better now.

On many occasion, I have 3 or 4 defenders surrounded a cpu striker, I tried my best to stay cool and contain, intercept, tackle, predicting, timing his move etc...to no avail.

The reason is my input to my defenders seem to either have been swiched off/ ignored by the game engine temporarily and all my defenders seem to just floating and flailing aimlessly around him.

This seems to be the CPU's tactic 90% of the time. Most goals I concede come from wide areas, low pass into the box, and then a weak shot to the far post, either first time or after 1 touch.

I agree, its all about positioning. Its great fun and very satisfying when you pull it off precisely. Its still not a given on the highest difficulties due to the twisting and turning AI, which is a good thing or it would become too easy.
