i think so... i think he is very underrated and should be playing in Europe already. He's one of the best deystroyer type midfielders ive ever seen. Top notch and knows how to get under a great players skin.

This is sort of off-topic, but Mastroeni is possibly the most versatile player in PES 5. I didnt say best, but hes the key member of my current Master League Team. Is he really that good on a real pitch. I havent seen the US play in a while.
Versatile, yes. Good? That's a tough one.

Mastroeni's a hard worker who has no qualms about getting stuck in. He's relatively composed on the ball and has pretty good positional sense. He covers well, too.

I think he could probably make it in, say, a lower level Premiership squad. But I think he's probably better suited -- talent wise -- on one of the upper-tier Cocacolaship teams.

He's one of the most important members of the US squad. And, indeed, I like him a lot -- for the US. He tends to raise his game when he's playing for the national team. But, it's also worth mentioning that he tends to be a bit inconsistent when he suits up for his club team, the Colorado Rapids. Oftentimes he looks plain ordinary when he plays for them.

So, long story short, I find him a bit hard to judge as a player, overall. My final verdict would be that he's a player I can't see European teams making a huge effort to go after, since there are a great number of players that match or exceed his talent level.

he's surrounded by no talent hacks for the rapids...put him on a team where he doesn't need to worry about anything but settling things down and breaking up opposing teams attacks and he'd shine...i predict a big WC out of him and he'll sign with a good european side.

Perhaps. But, imo, he still needs to be a better performer in MLS if he's going to get any serious interest from abroad.

He had a good 2002 WC -- a surprise choice at the time who got a lot of minutes and did himself very well. Frankly, I was a bit surprised nobody pushed for him then.
Kirby#9 said:
What position does he play in for the Rapids??
Central midfield. Sort of has to do it all. As Preki-USA says above, he'd probably perform better if he could devote his energy to breaking up attacks and ball-winning. Initiating the attack isn't his forte, but he's relied upon to do quite a bit of that with Colorado.

Bullshit they left Twellman off

what a joke.

I was surprised, too, that Arena chose Ching over Twellman. Still, the coach has shown in the past that he knows what he's doing, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. Besides, Twellman has been named as an injury replacement, and we all know how brittle some of Team USA's guys are. If I were Twellman or Ralston or Noonan or one of those other guys, I wouldn't throw away my German phrasebook just yet. I wish Jonathan Spector had been given more of a shot (though his recent injury may have made that moot), and I like the selection of Conrad. Looking forward to seeing a "created player" version of him posted here.

Sorry Preki, but I support picking Ching over Twellman. Although it wouldn't be a total surprise if Twellman ends up replacing "Ching Ching" do to injury. Last Saturday it seemed that Ching was favoring either his foot or his leg, so that has me wondering if it’s minor or will it progress into a bigger problem.

Nice little discussion going on in here. Bruce Arena is the best coach the US has ever had so I think he knows what he's doing with the Brian Ching/Taylor Twellman thing, although I admit it surprised me when I first heard it.

Anyway, I've got the last batch of appearances for in-game US players, and if I get enough good responses I'll have a go at the US players that made the team but aren't in the game (only appearances though, no stats).

For those that I haven't done, they are in the editing section somewhere and I like those versions so I used them. I think Cherundolo's default face is fine so I left that one alone and I couldn't find a decent picture of Berhalter. Let me know what you guys think!

Yes, someone please do the stats and app for Jimmy Conrad, Ben Olsen, and Marcus Hahnemann. Maybe they're in WE10 and we could just copy 'em over?

Freddy Adu has already been done, just search for it. It might be in the "black players appearance thread" or something like that, not 100% percent sure of the name but I know it's been done.

I'll take a shot at Jimmy Conrad, Ben Olsen, and John O'Brien and I'll post them up either later today or tomorrow.

That should do it. It's the best I can do so if you have any corrections, post them here. Also, I won't be doing stats as I have no idea what stats to give the created guys, and for Hahnemann, I just overwrote Hartmann. Enjoy :) .

Thanks bogeyexpress, appreciate the comment. Do you have stats for any of these created guys by any chance?

Soccerball, good looking. Thanks! Now if I can only get some decent stats on these guys, team USA will be all ready for Germany!

Soccerball on the case! Way to dig. At first glance, the stats might be a bit kind, but I'll take it after konami continually shafts US players.
By the by Konami, ease back on your Japanese players! They're really not that good. Just look at the players that are duplicated in the European teams. Those are the correct stats.
Also just as off-topic, what's a brother gotta do to get an MLS license in WE? That can't cost more than like $500.
