Hello there Pesheads, long time no speak.
As you’ve probably seen in Ratmundos earlier post I’ve been given the privilege of play testing some of his new squads and boy you guys are in for as treat.
Firstly let me start by expressing my gratitude for his tireless editing work on the game, he spends hours upon hours fine tuning his file, players, stats, tactics and kits the results are incredible.
After the PES2018 debacle I was on a bit of a downer and to tell you the truth Pes 2017 had gotten a little too easy, I was finding it every time more less of a challenge. Ratmundo then got back in touch saying he was thinking of carrying on creating even more national squads for 2017 and wanted me to have a play around with them to see what I thought naturally I couldn’t wait to get stuck in.
So let’s see what I`ve found the last few weeks.
Firstly one thing I do on exhibition/versus mode is turn off the emotions option. I find it makes the Ai much less predictable, much more aggressive and cuts out them momentum swings during matches. This is a personal thing so you can all try it out and see which you prefer.
SQUADS
Not only are you getting loads of new National teams, Israel ,Panama ,Paraguay and Switzerland to name but a few , the squads that are already in his released file are also getting some major improvements, new tactics for many of the teams , new international call ups including an amazing Romario (one of my all time faves) , loads and of improvements to existing faces and the kits are looking sharper than ever.
STATS
All players stats have had a complete stat overhaul , the all-time greats, Maradona ,Cruyff, Pele etc will now be more likely to stand out in games, in the matches I’ve played many have often been decided by a touch of brilliance from one of these guys. That said they are not overly out of this world that they become unplayable. Just right in my opinion.
GOALKEEPERS
Amazing!!!! Now to start off with the keepers in 2017 are generally very good but with Ratmundos new stats they become incredible. They are now much more involved in matches and have had me talking about their stunning saves as much as the great goals I’ve been scoring. They are much more aware now closing down oncoming strikers, making themselves big, pulling off point blank range saves. The likes of Hiden, Banks, Jennings, Gilmar etc are now as amazing as their outfield counterparts. This is one of the most noticeable tweaks Ratmundo has made in his latest update. Just you guys wait to see them for yourself. Brilliant!!!!
DIFFICULTY/GAMEPLAY
The difficulty has definitely been notched up a peg or too, the Ai is now much more unpredictable are now gives me a real challenge losing as many times as I win, what I’d found before was that a could more often than not just dink balls over the top for my strikers to latch onto. Those days have gone, now I have to really work to find gaps, patience is the key and also working out the best way the team plays, Panama for example are fast and physically very strong so the direct approach is usually the best way to get a positive result whereas with Croatia are much more of a short passing team just launching it up field with these guys doesn’t generally achieve much. It’s all about adapting to each teams style. England is my bogey team at the moment, Finney, Matthews, Greaves have tore me apart on numerous occasions. Loving the challenge!!!!
Anyway this is just a little taster of things to come; I can honestly say I’ve not played and enjoyed a version of PES so much since back in the ps2 days. Thanks to Ratmundo who keeps the giving the game a fresh new feel with each update. If Konami had more editors like this guy on board PES would have a much brighter future.
Keep an eye out for more updates in the coming weeks from myself and Ratmundo. I will post some match highlights in my youtube channel (Donatosons Retro Pes) in the upcoming days so you can have a look for yourself.
