Television Support?

Right so I went to visit my in-laws at the weekend and brought along the PS3. They have a Panasonic telly about 26 inch, fairly new but certainly not HD (ready or otherwise). Here at home I have a fairly crap barely 20 inch Bush with dodgy tubes that are about to go any month now (I will be purchasing a HD TV in the near future). The colour and visibility on my TV is good - but on the Panasonic it was quite sketchy and a bit hard to read. The real issue here was the gameplay - it was fast and flowed really well, in fact I am pretty sure that my stamina bar went down slowly compared to now, here at home with my Bush TV. Gameplay is considerably slow and to be honest I seemed to be playing much better on the Panasonic, especially during BAL.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I guess you're playing better cos with bigger tv you get better idea of surroundings. You can mess around with aspect ratio on TV, it makes a lot of difference.

As for HDTV, I think it's greatly overrated. I'm playing my xbox on a little 14 inch tv with scart and the picture is fantastic! Not sure it's worth playing hundreds for HDTV.

anything wrong with ur ps3 or ur installed data?
if not HD TV full 1080i/p is perfect mate

I own a Bush SD Widescreen TV. I've had it for years now. It always ran the PS2 PES titles a touch faster and more fluid than my friends TV's, which were also SD at that time, but more expensive brands.

We recently tried the PS2 version of PES 2008 (on a PS2) on two seperate LCD HD televisions and it was slower and less fluid than when played on my prehistoric SD screen. We all preferred how it looked and played on the SD Bush.

In relation to the PS3. I'm still content with how my ol' SDTV portrays games. And I'm as surprised as any by that. The difference is definitely notacable, but not the gulf some would have you believe. I'll get an LCD HDTV in time, when prices have fallen, 'cause the step up is not quite worth upwards of £500, not for me.

I have my eye on an LCD HD Ready...they're down to €600 right now and given that we are screwed financially in Ireland - there will be sales both sides of Christmas, meaning that I will pick up a Sony for €400 in January! I can also get a really crap LCD HD for €300 right now. BAL is depressing me now since I know what I'm missing...
