im just going to list a few points if anyone could tell its not just me it would be helpfull.

1.players pace evryone seems to have the same pace.
2.computer ai defence sits back on the goal line.
3.shooting seems repetitive always flys just past the post or just over the bar and the keeper just stands there.
4.bad first touch try recieving the ball with r2 no good dont press anything and recieving the ball still no good.
5.computers pin point passing even the crap teams.
6.2 players co-op, every time you select a player with L1 your player runs towards the ball which means your run you was making is cancelled and you have no controll.
7.not being able to turn quickly without doing the truffle shuffle.
8.weird passing your player seems to wrap his foot around the ball and curves the ball straight to the computer.

someone please help

The style of play has changed from PES4 so try to think of it as a brand new game, because if you keep comparing it to PES4 you won't get anywhere.

Stick at it you'll see;)

1.players pace evryone seems to have the same pace.

nope not true you jus can't blaze past them anymore like pes4

2.computer ai defence sits back on the goal line.

CPU does play deep but you get caught offside alot as you'll see

3.shooting seems repetitive always flys just past the post or just over the bar and the keeper just stands there

NO !!!!! you jus can't shoot yet

4.bad first touch try recieving the ball with r2 no good dont press anything and recieving the ball still no good.

Its actually R1.. but chea control is fine with me aslong as your not holding R1 when you recieve the ball

5.computers pin point passing even the crap teams.

Nah the computer plays at a higher standard of play now.. turn down the stars if you wanna walk over them

6.2 players co-op, every time you select a player with L1 your player runs towards the ball which means your run you was making is cancelled and you have no controll.

dunno ain't co-op'd yet =(

7.not being able to turn quickly without doing the truffle shuffle.

depends on the player..etc robinho and ronaldinho turn fastish to leave players for dead

8.weird passing your player seems to wrap his foot around the ball and curves the ball straight to the computer.

Once again NO!!!!! you just can't pass yet

Practice makes perfect new game stop comparing to pes 4

i've definitely noticed your first point...pace does appear to be even regardless of who you are

and i have noticed that the computer can do some seriously accurate passing...

No doubt, by agreeing with you, someone will come and say that i need practise and that i'm crap at the game, but i expect that whenever i make a comment on the game!!! Insults are never far from some people,

Props, to those who can give a response without seeing the need to insult others

No doubt, by agreeing with you, someone will come and say that i need practise

Have you considered that perhaps this is true?

As much as you hate "insults", it bugs me personally when people write off the game as flawed when it is their playstyle that is flawed.

I don't know what the trouble people have with pace is; *if* your player is fully rested (this is important! And I dont mean you started him with full stamina... I mean that he has decent stamina at the time in the game where you want to do some sprinting.) and you know how to super sprint (hold R1 and tap forward repeatedly or tap R1 repeatedly) and you are able to gain a bit of distance first (IE are not tied right up) by either cancelling and chasing the pass or directing it out far ahead by holding R1+R2, ...... if you do all these things... then you should not be caught.

I suspect that people tend to deplete their players' stamina very quickly by ball chasing and that this is why your Henry (or whoever) runs like molasses. Just learn to defend conservatively, and don't ball chase as much, and *especially* never ball chase with forwards, unless it's a calculated risk.

well Jake, how do you address the pace issue? it's ridiculous when your nippy striker the ball with about 10 yards on soem lumbering defender, and they are caught within seconds. Change the players areound and it's the same thing.

One can't really go to training and make them run faster

wait, I so didn't read your post at all properly just then, so now I look like a right dickhead. I read like a line and passioantely replied, hehe

However, the second part of your post is still greatly flawed. Even from the offset of the game, 5 minutes in, your quick players are outpaced by any defender, even with a massive start on them. The stamina excuse is just clutching at straws in my opinion

Are you sure that you've done all the things I listed in my post? I ask because I do not encounter this issue to the degree that some seem to. I am not clutching at straws, if it seemed a problem to me I'd say so, I assure you.

If I am making a pass to Henry, and he is 2-3 yards clear of a defender, and has decently high stamina, and I pop the ball out in front fairly well and then super sprint (tap R1), I am not getting caught by *any* defender, except a fast SB or if I try to turn.

i do agree about the pace... i think the best example would be using djibril cisse to run down the flank with the ball, and still having someone like hyppia keep up with him... but hey, there are still ways to get around this. :)

i figure that you have to make space and formation is really important if u wanna enjoy this game. i was totally furious yesterday when i lost to sweden 2-1 using holland. it was my last match of the day and up till that point, i had 5 matches end in pk's and 2 other matches won with just a goal advantage.

today, played sweden again with holland, this time, i shifted some players around. lo and behold, my new fave players are van persie, kuyt and sneijder. they just did circles around the defence.

i had problems with crossing when i first played the game... actually, it was more of creating space to cross. like you said, it seemed that the defenders ALWAYS caught up with you and they seem to mark too well. but you'll get around it.

it's a different game from PES4, and there wouldn't be any point in picking up PES5 expecting to play like PES4. you wouldn't learn anything.

1.players pace evryone seems to have the same pace.

ball possessors running with R1 and being followed by opposition? If he's coming from one side tilt towards the other to make one more successfull dribble. Still got tackled? Should've passed.

3.shooting seems repetitive always flys just past the post or just over the bar and the keeper just stands there.

In the moment between your final dribble and your shot, let go of the direction pad and, press it again or don't, AFTER PRESSING []SQUARE.
If that wasn't clear from me let me say it from a different angle; dribbling in one direction with your thumb on the direction pad then pressing square to shoot without letting go of the D-pad is why most players never score.

4.bad first touch try recieving the ball with r2 no good dont press anything and recieving the ball still no good.

It's all about the direction! that's what decides who makes the right first touch. R1 is to put distance between you and the ball to prepare a dash or lets you allow the ball to bounce one extra time and dash in the same direction the ball is moving to. R2 is to slow the ball and keep close distance to it, which is used if you want to prepare a change of pace or a fake or even a side change. R2 is most usefull if your DEFENDING opponent is running.

One more tip. You have to juggle between two objects on the field.

The first one is the ball which is the same as every PES game

The second, and new one is the player. Body collisions count this time and when tackling -shoulder to shoulder- hold R1 & R2 and press the CORRECT direction.

are some of you actually playing the correct game!?

in pro 4 there was the horrible catch up thing where hyppia could catch henry

in 5 it does not exist what so ever!
if you have space with anyone who is quick i.e. ronaldo, giggs, martins henry etc... its simple, you will not be caught!
if you are you are either letting go of R1 or doing something weird

The pace of the players if fine. You need to create space first for them to run in, in order to exploit a fast player. As in real life.

so you're telling me that in real life a de Zeeuw would run down an Henry with 5 yards on him (and using 'super sprint')? Yeah, ok, heaps real life.

This happened 5 (game) minutes into an exhibition match

I use this example, but it is one of thousands

Maybe you need to adjust your playing style and not just rely on the pace of people like Henry. Arsenal do and look how they've floundered.

To be frank, i haven't really noticed this pace issue. Either that or it just hasn't bothered me to the point where i feel the need to mention it. I steered France to the world cup last night and was able to exploit my players' pace to my satisfaction. Also i distinctly remember my aging lillian Thuram being left for dead by Ronaldinho. So maybe it's just henry?

Bear in mind that players in general can run quicker without a ball at their feet and so often defenders will be able to catch an attacker (real life and PES5).
You have to time when you use sprint or super sprint. I can leave defenders for dead with even moderately fast attackers if I time it right.

If u run correctly with the ball (supersprint) then there is no way a slower defender can catch u. Period.
As for Henry, his dribbling speed stat is not as high as in the previous games.
He only has dribble speed of 85 where he should have about 90-92 IMO.
But still as Jake said in his post if you sprint correctly there is no way a slower defender can catch up on you.

Today, I scored 5 goals with Rooney as England against various European teams (Germany, Italy, Holland, Portugal included). 3 out of the 5 goals were dribble goals by Rooney. In each of the times, he got the ball in good space, he was not well-marked, and I did see that when I passed to him. When I started dribbling with Ronney with space and time (and technique), no defender could even touch his shirt! But if you make a shit pass and expect your super striker to take it to goal, it simply wont happen. Even in real life, Henry and Rooney dont score such goals everyday. The delivery/service to them has to be spot on, from where they can score.
