It's fairly common knowledge now that SI Games and Eidos have parted company and the game Championship Manger as we know it will not be made again. However, this doesn't mean that there won't be anymore managers sims, in fact it's the opposite, there will be two new ones.
Eidos are the publishers and own the Championship Manager brand name and plan to release a new Championship Manager. However, it will be Championship Manager in name only.
Sports Interactive own the rights the database and game engine, and have just announced plans to make a new game after aquiring the old name of Football Manager. SEGA will publish the game and screen shots are available here.
So basically fans of the CM series should buy Football Manager as this will be made by the same people and be the closest thing to it, the next game to be called Championship Manager will be a new game made by completely new people. Buying the new CM would be like buying choosing FIFA over PES3, you'd be purchasing a brand name and license, not a good game.
