The PES Tournament

First off im back after my massive absence from this site, not that i have been missed but anyway, lets cut to the chase.

Recently played in a PES5 Tournament with some of the lads around the town i live in. And it was fucking good.

It felt so official, there was a draw and everything. However i was kicking myself after it as i was drawn with West Ham, and my first game was against one of the co-favourites (with me) and he was Juventus. I had to make a few alterations to the formation and tactics i was playing before this one.
The game was open, chances at either end. I was completely owning him in the 1st half hitting the post and crossbar numerous times, and a few wayward shots from the edge of the area, all that was keeping him in it.
2nd half was a completely different story, i was pegged down in my own half, but my resolute defending made sure nothing was getting past. Only a few stray shots got through but they were delt with by Roy Carrol.
Game went to penalties i won 5-4 and went mental, fair enough.

2nd game i was playing against some bloke who was Sunderland. Dull affair, i won 1-0. I found Sunderland really hard to break down, probably because they had about 6 defenders or something.

3rd game i was playing against this person who i know who was Lazio. Him being a free kick specialist i was careful not to give anything away near the edge of my box. I was getting massacred in the first 10 minutes but he had still failed to score. Against the run of play, i counter attacked and slotted 1 past the keeper, 1-0 at half time.
Game finished 2-1 to me after a free kick equaliser from him, and then a last gasp winner from Sheringham i think, to wrap up the points.

Won my next 5 games 1-0, 2-0, 1-0, 2-1 and then 3-0, and then i was in the semi finals.
I was playing against one of my mates who was Parma. It was a tight game with both of us cancelling each other out. It finished 0-0. In extra time however, with a few inspired changes from the West Ham manager, the game was a completely different story. West Ham ran the show, and 2 quickfire goals sealed it. I was in the finals, and i could already feel the prize money in my back pocket.

The final was played against some random bloke, who was about 20-odd. I had never seen him in my life. Anyway, he was Real Madrid, and me being West Ham, i was shitting myself. However my first impressions had decieved me. As the game panned out i found myself dominating, and he was lucky to go in 0-0 at half time. However early into the 2nd half i found myself 2-0 up, and decided to sit back and defend, and pass the ball around. It was all fairly comfortable up until the last couple of minutes when he pulled back a late goal. After that i was under constant siege but managed to hold on and win 2-1. Aswell as a healthy £50 :D

sorry for the massive post, but it was a long story :)

What kind of rules did you go by? As i'm trying to organise a tournament in my area for around 50 people.

5 star, random arrows, 10min games, random weather etc.

Cool pretty much same as me. Camera angles can be a bugger though. Plus my mate moans when you put players on the goal line on freekicks.

Be warned it will take fucking ages.

We spent quite alot of money on it, due to renting out a venue, and we did some small adverts in the local paper. (It was all part of our business studies project)
We charged a £3 entrance fee, and ended up having about 40 people playing. And also supplied refreshments which were sold etc.
That was just organising it.

The draw itself took nearly an hour.

And the matches started at 10am and the final was just after 7:30 or something like that.

Just imagine doing that for 50 people :eek:hmy:

Oh yeah forgot to add, no memory cards were used either.
