Why buy it staright away anyway. when the price war starts like 2 months after the PS3 will be dropped. By mid Febuary £350-400ish

We all have different experiences. I don't have a problem with Sony. If i did i wouldn't have bought another PS1 when it broke, and another PS2 when that broke, too. I'm just saying that i expect a console to last its lifetime until it is replaced with its next-gen successor. Sony just don't seem to be able to make a durable disc-drive, as this seems to be a common problem and you are very lucky if your PS2 has lasted the course. Thus, i have lost a bit of faith in Sony.

I'm surprised that so many people are buying the PS3 hype. We all remember the hype pre-PS2, which if were all honest was a little under-powered compared to the expectations. I'm just being cautious and not pumping myself up for something that is alledgedly so much better the the 360. The PS3 was supposed to be released at the same time as the 360, remember. That says to me that it can't be so far ahead.
