The best defensive team in PES10 is hands down Bestikas (sp)? Anyways, I've been using this team yesterday all day long and guess how many goals I've got from Messi's or Ronaldo's cutbacks - 0 yep, big fat fucking ZERO. I was beat but with decent goals like headers and long range screamers and I won some, but those days where they run down with Messi and CR9 or any superfast player are over.
Here's what I did and a tip I got from a guy who resides in England, who competed in PES tournaments and who won 2nd overall place after beating about 180 best PES players in Europe.
He pretty much told me to go to assisted settings and to go to the last option where you can set up defense, attacks etc...and put that on 1. This will focus your team to be super defensive. The you go to tactics, and enable all defense.
That's it. Now here's the kick: Every time your opponent has the ball press and hold L2 along with Circle. This will completely move all your players towards your goal - THE WAY IT SHOULD BE LIKE IN REAL FOOTBALL. It will only leave your SS, CF at the half line.
THE BEST THING: When your opponent has the ball and your holding L2+Circle the entire time, even if he runs with MESSI, your defender will MATCH his speed. NOW IN ORDER FOR THIS TO WORK IS:
When MESSI is running like he has nitros oxide up his ass, what you do again HOLD L2+Circle and let the CPU chase him. CPU will be able to match his speed. Once he matches his speed, YOU THEN chance the cursor and you will immediately get that player who's chasing down Messi and he will take the ball EASY.
Also, when you do this, your wings are completely covered. So a guy with 4-3-3 formation can just hold your left nut because he won't be able to do shit.
Now the game is finally playable. I've played about 7 matches last night and all of them were Barca/Madrid/Brazil/Argentina and had ZERO goals from cutbacks.
Also, when you have these settings above, don't worry about your attacks. The best formation in my honest opinion is: 4-5-1. It will result in a lot of off-sides but if your opponent has settings on pressings, or all attacks he will have no defense at all. Just hit a long through pass, lob all the players and VIOLA.
This is GUARANTEED TO WORK!
Funny thing is, these lamers once they realize they can't do shit with Messi or Ronaldo or Pato, Kaka whatever they are FORCED to play YOUR STYLE of FOOTBALL - where most likely you have a chance of beating them.
