What TV do you have mig? I ask because I'm getting it at Tesco tonight and I only have an SD TV. I also use the long camera angle.

"Hi, I've found the following improvements for better and smoother framerates for ps3 games.
Like set the BD/DVD upscaler set off,HDMI 24fps off, HDMI audio set on bitstream, PS2 upscaler/smoother set off.
Disable system display notify/ mediaserver off / all other automatic setting set to off / internet disable if not multiplaying and other setting etc will all help improve framerates.

I tested all the games with HDMI 720p, and all games runs more smoother, speed and more responsive, I think cell dont have to spend time in the background from those settings before.

ight i have been doing some experimenting with PES2008 on the PS3.

When i first started the game i chose to install the data to the HD.
I started having problems with the game crashing or taking forever to load on the loading screen right before a game starts.

I also had a lot of slowdon and juttering during corners and when the screen became full of players, also during replays, my PS3 even crashed when the player was celerbrating a goal and there was a close up shot of this.

I was very much annoyed at this time and i could see why there were a lot of bad reviews concerning the slowdown.

So what i did next was to DELETE the data file which was created when i installed the game.
Problems solved.

I had near to no slowdown during the game, there may have been a small bit here and there just like there was in PES6 for PS2 but nothing like before, the load screens also loaded in good time with no crashing or freezing.

I would like someone else to give me their views on the "Install data" feature on this game and if you notice a difference or not, i think you will find you will.

I rekon the reviews that said the slowdown was really BAD installed the game data, and the reviews that say the slowdown isn't that bad didn't bother to install the game data.

I was just messing about with the settings after seeing a post below and my ps3 was saying that my video output resolution was 576p. I changed this to 720p and the game is running like a dream!! So go to the main screen across to settings and then display settings and click the top 1 saying video output settings and change the resolution to 720p or maybe it might have to just go up 1 in general. it zooms out abit on the homepage but not in the game and it runs as smooth as ever!! Good luck let me know if this helps anyone. Im so happy

anyway there is no slowdown, I installed the game data and I set it to 720 rather 1080i on my hd tv its plays so smooth.

after playing my game without installing because i was having frame rate issues and the game not loading, i tried again today to see if it would work.

and i couldn't believe it the game worked perfectly and the framerates were brilliant no slowdown or anything, at first i couldn't work out what i had done different today then what i had done yesterday. then it dawned on me, yesterday my PS3 was midway through downloading Tigerwoods demo, today it wasn't downloading anything at all and its better then before.

even during replays the slowdown is hardly noticable.

i think already we are getting closer to the cause of slowdown, i think hugh hit the nail on the head, the less the ps3 is doing in the backround the better the gameplay, and i think if you are downloading stuff whilst playing with the game installed on the HD this will cause conflict, and you will see the results as SLOWDOWN!

i jus got the game from virgin, theyve broke the release date. bad news, its got pretty bad slowdown. wankerific

EDIT *** I jus put the view on NORMAL LONG and its running smooth as a bitch. so far.

Utter disgrace. Trying to play a game here and it's stuttering all over the place. I'm absolutely disgusted with Konami right now, 2 games in and it's unplayable.

1) Have you installed the game on to your hard disk?

2) are you currently in the middle of downloading anything from the playstation store?

3) are you playing it on a HDTV?

Earlier today Konami apologised for the quality of online play with an online notification displayed when gamers enter the PES 2008 lobby. It revealed that the publisher has uncovered "issues which can affect the online gameplay quality of PES 2008" and is working "full strength to find a solution as quickly as possible".

We gave Konami's UK office a call posing as a customer to ask what the publisher would be doing to combat the problems. We were told that a patch was being worked on that would not only attempt to improve offline play but also online play. However, Konami does not have a timeframe on when that patch will be released.

It remains unclear how PES fans who are not connected to the Internet will be able to improve the quality of their game experience, however.

I only experience bad slowdown in the entrance scene and also in replays. But during the game i get hardly any. Im playing on a HDTV via HDMI and have installed the game data on the HDD if that makes a difference.

Hi Guys and Gals,

Just thought I'd write about my experiences with the Slowdown.

Well can I first say Konami have practically ruined the only day that is better than Christmas for me!

Got home put the game in, and couldn't play it at all due to the framerate slowdowns giving me a complete headache. Tried installing the game...no difference.

However have now spoken to two seperate people who have HDTV's who are saying they are not experiencing this issue at all???

So is this is a issue with non-HDTV's?

Either way Konami should be ashamed, releasing a game which is supported by a massive fan base and letting them down big style. I traded my 360 to buy a PS3 to play the game on its true home and look what happens.

Totally gutted, impossible to play for me.

Hoping that this gets resolved quickly cause right now I feel totally cheated.

PS. bought the ps2 version thinking at least I'll have some PES to play...complete rip off, exact same version as PES6, they really should be ashamed. It's all about money for them this year. Get it released half finished on the PS3 and just give the PS2 owners last years game with...ooo new shiny menus and of course Jon Champion.

Konami real shame on you. You have disappointed a lot of people.

does installing game data on PS3 speed game up?

I'm not sure that installing game data on the PS3 does speed up load times and framerate, if it does then for me it's only a very small increase because I havn't really noticed it!!!

Ok i have massive (and i mean massive) slowdown, have installed the game and it made no difference. i am using a SD tv with scart connection but due to get a HD tv soon Interestingly Fifa 08 is a little jerky on my SD TV too. I thoguht maybe my ps3 was playing up but every other game runs perfectly. i am hoping above hope that the SD TV is part of the problem, does anyone know if this makes a difference, i know my games will look better but does it affect the framerate/performance in any way, specifically pes2008?

I have a HDTV & am playing via the HD cable, the slowdown is AWFUL, the only angle you can play the game on is Wide, which is a disgrace. Installing it doesn't make one bit of a difference. Extremely unhappy with the game, and Playstation as a whole. The PS3 has just been one big disaster after another. Now I'm going to have to go & buy the 360 version which will be nowhere near as good due to the anti-pes controller the xbox has. Komani need to get this fixed & have it re-released, and FAST!

yep game is a joke. i can play it on normal long on my HD but thats the only view that is acceptable. Ive ALWAYS played on broadcast so this is gashtastic.
I can handle this but the cut scenes are ridicously slow, the replays are bitty and unwatchable and I'll try not to dwell too much on the penalty shoot outs, which are in slow motion. This is a farce this game! WTF? how can Konami relese this with so few features and such a crap edit system and call this a game. When u take a step back and look at it pro evo 6 on my ps2 is so much better, more accesable and runs unbelievably smoothly. I remember when i first heard bout this game on PS3 i thought it would be freakin awesum and im well disappointed.

Btw the online play is jus pure funny the players move like 30ft in a millisecond, the ball dissapears and reappears and goals magically jus occur its wierd shit.

Konami uve put out a pile of (very expensive) shite. This patch had better come very soon.
