Having only arsenal and chelsea licensed is fine to me as i think ive said a few times ;) if all the teams were licensed then the kit editor and so on wouldn't be as much fun! :(

Believe it or not, a lot of people do buy FIFA. I can't understand it myself because PES wins hands down on everything. The FIFA buyer goes into these few catagories.

- I can only see young kids buying or recieving the game as a present because they get sucked into the EA adverts. It flashes up all the right signals and so people think it's a good game.
- Plus the fact that it's very westernised in its stylings which naturally appeals to those more ignorant then ourselves.
- There are also those that played FIFA as kids and want to stick with it (probably because they haven't played PES).
- Most I would say buy FIFA because they don't like PES. They find it too difficult or not spectacular enough so go for the ball-on-rails option instead.

I think PES is catching on to these things more and more tho, and if they keep the gameplay the same (or at least the core and improve as they do each year), but also adopt a FIFA-esque advertising and presentation scheme, they'll be on everyone's wanted list.

It is only a matter of years till PES becomes the top game in the footie category! As ive said before i used to be a huge fifa fan but once i rented out PES3 to show my mates i was hooked and i can never see myself going back.I do have one Fifa fanboy as a mate and he really pisses me off with the "Fifa has all the proper kits" shit. They dont have proper kits! no Nike logos as i keep saying  The guys nearly 18 and still plays fifa Wtf?!?

I think EA had the foresight with FIFA series to get an agreement for all the licences earlier on. Also from FIFA for national teams. This was done back when FIFA was the only good footie title around.

Now, I feel its not fully Konami's fault as well. Everybody wants a piece of the pie. I feel that some teams/leagues are holding out for more money. Also some times national associations can be sticky as well. (remember the Oranges). What about Ronaldo. HOw long did they take to get his name into the game.

Probably Arsenal/Chelsea agreed as part of their marketing plans for Asian region. Could also be that being the top two teams in EPL, Konami HAD to get them licenced at any cost.

IMO Konami negotiating with individual teams/leagues/associations would deifinitely be a more costly affair than getting a blanket licence. Eventually it may come down to whether its really profitable for therm to do so.

I feel KOnami shoudl probably go in a different way. Use your game as advertising. WIth such great sales figures, maybe teams/sponsors should be paying to get their names into WE/PES. Not sure in the case with Adidas. (who's paying who ). Wouldn't it be great if companies like Mcdonald's, Fuji , Siemens, Toyota all paid a little to get their boards into the game. (just like real life stadium sponsors eh?)

But then again, with this type of deal, some ppl might want exclusivity as well. It's a step in the right direction, but I don't want to see only items from any single party.

Like I said in another post, For the kits, since many national kits are so generic these days (Adidas/Nike). They could licence a sampling of common kits. Then should keep these licenced templates in the game, and provide an option to 'copy as base'. That way you could use Brazils Nike kit, and make copies for Turkey, Holland, Mexico, Korea, just edition the colours. Badge editor can remain as it is.

Cheers

I hope Konami get induvidual rights for all English clubs - it's basically about how much they're willing to pay to make it happen. Surely they couldve got the liscenses for PES5 if they wanted, right? EA have Premier League rights, but it doesnt stop anyone else getting induvidual rights - EA have the liscence for most leagues, yet obviously Konami have still managed to get leagues such as Serie A in PES4.

If I was a billionaire, I would so just fund Konami's bid to get rights. In theory, getting rights might actually end up being a self-cost practice. They get rights, and PES sells more units - hence potentially earning alot of that money back by new interest and appealing to those lost FIFA players.

Even though getting the liscences would be great i wish they would put in an option to allow you to, after a season in master league change the kit design of the liscenced teams as almost every team changes either there home or away kit each year.

At present you can only change non liscenced kits after each season. I really like this option.
