Gunnar Nordahl - Striker - Sweden
You know the guy who was born in the wrong place at the time and even more wrong? Well, that's the case, Gunnar Nordahl, one of the greatest Swedish player of all time, alongside Nils Liedholm and Gunnar Gren. And the most curious is that these two, shared Nordhal Milan in the sensational time of the years 40 and 50, played the World Cup of 1958 by Sweden. Nordahl not. The reason? Ten years before, with only 27 years of age, Nordahl withdrew from the selection after the Swedish Olympic title. His numbers for the selection of the Three Crowns alarmed: 43 goals in 33 games. Frightened, but should not. Nordahl was anyway, perfect attacker, capable of taking goals from where less might think. In his 257 games for Milan, from 1949 to 1956, marked 210 goals; anything more impressive than their 93 goals in 95 games at Norrkoping of Sweden, or their 68 goals in 41 games at Hörnefors, also of their country of origin. But Nordahl chose the wrong time to defend the Swedish selection. This one was made before the World Cups without, in an empty decade for football. Who knows I had expected more ten years, the situation of his country in 1958, which took only two of the three Swedish krona which encantaram in Milan, had been different. But at least he has left his nation with that of gold medal with all the charm of amateurism. In 1970, Thomas Nordahl, his son, preceded the World Cup, putting the surname deserved in the history of the World.
