No, I really don't think so.... Maybe because of the licensed teams?

WE8's graphics are far more detailed than FIFA's.

The problem with turning the sounds off is you lose alot of the match atmosphere. I'd rather play with the slowdown.

IMO the best way to get rid off the slowdown without losing a good atmosphere is to.....
play at Stade Louis II(monacos stadium)
turn both crowds to 1 or 2 *
and just leave the copmmentray etc. at 3*

I've read somewere how to get rid of the "slowdown", but I haven't tried it out myself. Here is a copy of that text:

i found it from korean game board that you can fix the problem,

and it's very simple.

turn you ps2 on. but don't start the game.

go to ps2 option by pressing triangle then press triangle one more time to go to

cd speed and texture option.

both option is on standard.

now change it to cd speed 'fast' and texture to 'smooth'

and press 'reset' button to start the game.

play the game and BIG differences.

Might be worth a go, but those options are for PSOne emulation normally.

Is anyone using WE8 on HDLoader/HDAdvanced? Whats the performence like on that?

Yes I know they are, but the reactions on that board were positive. Most of them said it really worked, but than again, maybe the want it to work so desperately that they believed it did while it didn't  ... But I know I'll try it when I get home, although I don't have a lot of slowdown and it's hardly noticeable.... I hope it workes for those who are really having big problems with it....

Why are some of us getting more slowdown than others? thats a bit strange. I have noticed though i certain stadiums, there is less slowdown, the stade veledrome and yeah, the monaco stadium seem not to be too bad. Also that thing about cd speed etc, that is most definately for PSone, and cannot see it making any difference, but hey, worth a shot right?

Yes, in certain stadiums it seems to be a bit worse. The bigger the stadium the bigger the slowdown or something like that. Maybe the slowdown also has something to do with the state your PS2 is in? Mine is brandnew and maybe that's why the slowdown is less worse? I'm going to take my copy to a mate of mine that has a 3-year old (my first PS2 didn't last that long :D ) PS2, so we can check it out. He has a bad copy of WE8, everytime the ball goes out for a trow-in the game just stops there. But for some reason he just keeps on playing (addicted I'd say) and hoping that the ball won't go out. Corners instead doesn't make the game stop.. And he has a lot of slowdown, but that could also be due to the bad copy...

I think if you also turn down the crowd it may help...I also tried playing around with camera views...go for long instead of wide...

That desperate reason is probably the only one that helps in reducing the slowdown.

Let me sum up this topic so we can all just calm down and play the game as it is and wait and see what will happen when PES4 comes out.
I won't explain which stadiums to choose or commentary or sound or crowd or whatever needs to be reduced to reduce the slowdown as it is pure NONSENSE to do this with console games. I won't accept to reduce my atmosphere and overall enjoyment of the game by doing those things.

First thing first, when PES3 came out, it had a stutter bug. Same discusion was present here then, as with the slowdown on WE8 today. And the same suggestions were posted how to reduce it etc... These were the most common ones:

Settings on your PS2 driver are only for PSone games like someone already said, and have NO EFFECT on PS2 games. It just improves loading times (CD speed) and smooths the graphics (smooth textures) by adding little antialiansing on PSone games. They are NOT noticable on PS2 as PS2 already works with TOP speed CD and smooth textures. It is UNTRUE that this change of settings works. Slowdown cannot be reduced by:

1. Change of CD speed and smooth textures on your driver,
2. Driver version, or PS2 version (whether it is black or silver), or how old your PS2 is.
3. Whoever asked about HDloader, the answer is NO IT DOESN'T HELP. HDloader won't get rid of the slowdown.
4. Putting your PS2 vertically/horizontally won't help.
5. Buying brand new TV with 100Hz refresh rate and progressive scan won't help you.
6. Buying a Japanese PS2 won't help you out as well.
7. Different mod-chip won't help you either.
8. Burning the game on different speed or better quality medium won't help.
9. Buying the original game also doesn't make difference.

The fact that there is more slowdown on bigger stadiums and vice versa, just confirms that it is a hardware problem which unfortunatelly cannot be solved ourselves.

If they fix it at PES4, then they'll have to reduce something or similar or they seriously did BAD job in programming (which is unlikely the cause).

We can just hope that PES4 xbox and PC versions will be right, and maybe PS2 version.
