I can understand that u switch to fifa, this year was not good...but next year try pes again and make ur decision. For me this pes 2012 is like the pes 2011 but with a worse gameplay... only the new right stick player control is cool..

Football Sims have become just that; complicated buttons to create the illusion of depth and substance, when in fact you are just tapping a lot of different buttons without actually thinking about what you are actually doing; does it make any sense that I need to press the R2 button just so the defender moves like a proper defender? No it doesn't make sense, the computer should press the R2 button automatically whenever the ball carrier is close enough for you (you: meaning the defender) to man mark him; does it make sense that I need to press the (x) button in order to pressure the defender? No it doesn't make sense, because the R1 button could easily function as both the sprint button and the pressure button; the list of completely useless and insubstantial buttons is a long one, destroying every facet of the game.
This is the only part I have to disagree with you ^^
Adding buttons to the game (or simply using all the existing buttons) and creating more combinations gives us more freedom of control (though we know that that one is often taken away by KONAMI). Yes, it makes sense that I need to press the R2 buttons, simply because "stalling" is an extra movement, that I want to decide when to use and not. And yes, it makes sense to press the X button to pressure, because (again) I want to decide when to...maybe I just want to run along the defender for a while, and not pressure him.
If everything was automatically done by KONAMI then we could go back to NES times with two A and B buttons only.
And besides, those automatisms (can't switch players...players run without being able to control...) are exactly the issues everybody's complaining about.

Unfortunatley though, the implementation of that idea was not very well done :/

If you like 'football on rails' that's up to you, personally I want to play the game, not have the game play for me.

Exactly. I know that's how I feel.

That actually sums up PES in a nice, concise statement. If you like that kind of stuff, it might be fun to you. I hate it, and it's not why I play a video game.

And I'm going to assume (Yeah, I know) that with the boom in online console gaming this generation, that most gamers feel the same way.

This assumption spurred on by the fact that EA claims a 25-1 advantage in a major region where they used to get killed (with the same marketing and resources).

The best way I can put it is this;

Take an rpg, e.g. Skyrim and compare that to the old rpg books you could get.
In Skyrim you can choose what you do, if you die it's usually your own fault.
In the books you get a preset choice and you roll a dice to see the outcome.

In PES you could go in for a slide tackle and instead of doing a skyrim - working out where the ball would bounce, the game already has its choices (usually weighed in the oppositions favour) such as which player it will bounce to and then rolls to decide.

I don't want preset choices, I want the game to reflect how I'm playing, not how KONAMI have decided how the dice will roll for this match.

with all due respect dieci, this game is an awful, primitive mess.

Let me preface this by saying: I'm not saying fifa is better, because i haven't tried it. Also, this game can be fun, but it is nowhere near realistic or accurate.

I should also say, i really wanted to like this game. And i was hoping things would be better.

It's so much on rails, you can predict whenever a goal is coming an entire two minutes before it happens. You will have absolutely no control of anything until said opportunity is gained.

I've said it a hundred times before, but there is no control/freedom in this game at all. Even the man with the cursor is subject to konami bullshit animation at every whim. I'm sprinting; all of a sudden i stop for absolutely no reason except to let the other guy pressing the button harder through. The amount of times my player does something i didn't do is comical.

It's a disgrace. People just kick the ball straight forward and the game morphs multiple people out of the way to complete the pass. Over and over again. Until they run straight through you and shoot. Of course every rebound and loose ball is konami controlled so that you don't have a chance even when defending well.

Of course defending itself is a big joke. You can make the same tackle by pressing x, l2, r2, or nothing!! How is this possible?? Because it's not determined by you anyway...

This game is about holding down the circle button and watching forwards press faster than the ball can be kicked for 90 minutes. Each time turning and sprinting off to goal after the ball is won.

Defenders don't defend so much as zoom in like a laser to the predetermined spot. Often making tackles while facing the other direction. So robotic and unrealistic looking/feeling.

Konami dictates everything. Even the coaching settings mean absolutely nothing when konami wants the other team to score. I'm playing all out defense in the 86th min. Yet my defensive line is up in front of the halfway line so the hack i'm playing doesn't even have to look or aim.

It's always one team flying around the park and the other team hiding behind the first team.

The special controls button is the dumbest gimmick in a sports game. It's seriously the get-out-of-jail-free-card.

Q:what's the difference between stumbling at every slight touch and beasting 3-4 men at a time??

A:special controls button. Physics are out the window, now it's just "hold this button for super strength!" holding this button also makes the opponents retarded zombies who have no idea whats going on......unless you hold it too!

Crossing.....you can tell whoever programmed this game, watches a lot of unrealistic anime bullshit because that's the only thing that the crossing system in this game bears a resemblance to.

The frosting on this turd is that they tried to invent confusing gimmicks to give the appearance of depth, when in reality none of these new "controls" mean anything (with the exception of "special controls" of course). The game's auto-animations determine all of the movements of you and your opponent.

At the end of the day, i think people say they like it because it looks like what they see on tv. However it plays nothing like that, and feels like a ps2 game....so primitive and basic.

The fundamental flaws of the game have not been addressed in years. The developers are incompetent and have nothing new to offer. The bleeding will continue.

Just my opinion....;)

amen!!

I think his point was...

Yes all them special moves and combo's look great in the instruction manual but when using them in the actual game its a different story.

Kondomi isnt a couple of guys in their bedroom making a fun indie game, they make millions of wonga each year from our hard earned money. So in return the buyers have a good cause to want a game that isnt filled with flaws. PES is like the girl with the great body but the ugly face, ur happy to spend the night with it but by the morning ur sick and tired of it peering its ugly face [flaws].
