This game is one step closer to being good... If you use manual controls

One of my biggest gripes with Pes 13 is the passing, and more precisely the animations and speed of assisted passing. It just looks Arcady and unrealistic. Furthermore, I find it ironic that it's called assisted because too often a pass goes to the wrong recipient (I have already touched on this issue in other posts on this forum).

Well, I invested An hour last nights with full manual controls. To begin with it was really frustrating and disheartening. Balls were going astray, I was giving up possession everywhere on the pitch and i wasn't having fun at all. But I stuck with it and slowly came to grips with it. I even managed to continue playing on Professional difficulty, slowly balancing out the CPU.

My last game was a game between Arsenal (me) and Chelsea (CPU) as a build up to today's real fixture....

Chelsea went ahead and I thought here we go again. But I focused and really started playing like Arsenal - short passes in midfield, and taking the advantage of Walcott's speed on the wing.

I intensified the pressure and somehow i could really feel in control and what was even more noticeable was how i felt the CPU to start retreating, defending and generally being under pressure. I managed to equalise the game with a great strike just 20 minutes from time and then the magic moment came, when I stole the ball from Chelsea's defence, held it for a bit until I saw Oxley Chemberlain sprinting on the left wing, played a great through ball (using manual), beat one defender with a shot feint, then struck a hard cross (double tap) in the area where Walcott beat Peter Chech with a diving header in the far post. I jumped out of my seat with excitement, then saved the replay, which i had never done before. There were so many positive things in that goal, but the cherry on the cake was the fact that I had done ot with full manual controls.

There is something about manual that just feels (and looks) right and I am sticking with it.
