No I am not involved in making FIFA - as I said, I have scorned previous FIFAs, but I have given them a fair go, and I have been rewarded this year.

As you said - you have your own opinion, you prefer PES. I am trying to say that you shouldn't be so hostile to those who disagree.

Sorry but NO - I have loved every pro evo thus far apart from 5 which was about 10x worse than this.

Fifa hasn't been good since world cup 98 on the n64

I agree with original poster, I cannot believe that people are accepting this 3 years after "next-gen" became a phrase. PES 6 on 360 was ok, 2008 was dire and 2009 is only slightly better. And don't knock me, I have been on this site for years and have played and owned all PES games since ISS and would like nothing more than to get that magic feeling when a slick move is finished by a sublime finish - sadly, after a week of having PES, that has not happened once.

And don't think I'm a FIFA fan boy. Yes, I bought it, but that is just as poor though slightly better than PES this year.

Gutted.

For the first time i have real trouble choosing the better one.. in fact i see them both quite equal with different strenghts and weaknesses this year..
Ive always preferred PES but this year i cant say it like that anymore.. both are great games.. would be almost impossible call for me if i had to pick one over other..

I actually loved pro evo 2008! It was maybe a little too unrealistic (read: fast) but you felt in control of the players.

This is much more like pro evo 6 (in terms of speed and syle of play) on PC/playstation but without the playability (read: FUN!). (360 vers. was abysmal - worse than this new one)

It's a good game - I like it better than I did 2 days ago, but it's still boring. I mean yes, you can't do legendary runs and stuff like you could on 2008 but who the hell wants total realism in a game? Watching football can be boring because you're waiting for some sicko like denilson/romario to do some skills and chip the keeper or something.

It's not that I'm losing on top player, and I have been scoring long range pingers so I'm not some n00b that can't win. But telling me stuff like oh dribble slowly and get a defender to commit is terrible advice that just means they get the ball even quicker than they would normally because you let them get too close

And even though I'm winning i spend 85% of the game jsut chasing players and trying to get the ball - Yes it's ok and I'm winning but it's BORING!!!!

This game is boring - that's my beef. It's not totally crap, I mean no pro evo has been perfect but it seems like they altered stuff far too much.

The ones I enjoyed straight off the bat have been my favourites and they are pro evo 6 on pc/playstation and pro evo 2008 on pc/xbox 360 the other ones took a little getting used to and I was only happy playing them because there was nothing else really.

Sorry to break it to the fifa boys but - Fifa 09 is typically shit.

Does anyone know if there is or will be an instalment of This Is Football, this year. Hearing all the negatives thus so far about PES 2009, from people that have played it for no more than a day or two at best. I'd like to give TIF a go (!)

Oh yeah don't get me fucking started on crossing, you press the button and they don't do it they seemingly wait until the defender can block/your players become marked - then try to cross.

I have about 40 corners a game and no clean crosses into the box - boring!

Just about every game cheats, not just Pes. The industry just haven't reached that level of AI yet. Just play any other game out there and you'll see. Games are designed on a normal or regular difficulty and the higher you increase it the more baddies they throw at you. Then they'll give the baddies and bosses higher HP. They don't make them smarter. Same with Pes, the AI is not 1 bit more intelligent on top player, just quicker, stronger, faster.

Expect to see some big AI improvements in all types of games next year as the devs are starting to grasp next gen power. Also keep an eye out this fall as some of the game's coming out are making interesting use of AI.

p.s. also agree with you on the last part. Top teams have just been too dam aggressive, often leaving huge gaps to exploit. Expect them to be a lot more dynamic in the future, like how Fifa handles it now; when you use a strong club against a weak one they'll play very defensively.

another negative thread about pes that makes me want to play the game even more. And yes i do want total realism in the game and the fact you have even praised the gameplay of 2008 should tell people something.

I can't understand how people can say that in pes 08 you can handle players better. You can't. It's fast and unresponsive.
