Oh come ooon ... I just Love the Through pass of PES2010 .. its all about the right timing , right placement ( direction of your analog stick ) and most importantly the amount of time you keep pressing the through pass button. if u press the through pass button long time tehre will be a loooong through pass and your direction has to be good .. always through pass when a player got free space in front or the player got speed ... all these combinations will get into you with more experience and then you will think how crappy was pes 2009 through pass was ..
Pes2009 through pass was 99 % a perfect through pass which was rediculous , it was like close ur eyes and rpress through pass and there will be a perfect through pass ..and there was no credit of the player .. but in pes 2010 u have to really think before you press the through pass ..

excecute the through pass at the right moment, and often with "special controls" button pressed and it works like a charm, I am using it all the time and hardly ever lose posession because of the pass. The main problem with passin in general in this game is that you don't get control of the striker that's running through until the ball is stuck in his feet, wich usually don't happen before a defender has caught up and kicked the strikers arse with a shoulder tackle.

The through ball is not based on timing is is based on random number calculation between you and the opponent. You don't control power as there is no power bar you only have near and far.

Most intercepted through balls will go to the side the opponent is on. If the opponent is on your receivers right hand side the intercepted through ball will go to the right hand side. If your receiving player is 20 meters away and the opponent is five metes away the through ball will have the power to reach 5 meters.

You will hardly see a through ball that goes half way or on the opposite side of the opponent. The same can be said for headers as the ball will either go to your players feet or most of the time the opponents feet. Try heading the ball to clear from goal and most of the time if an opponent is near by no matter how what direction you press the ball will go towards the opponents feet.

The ball physics in PES 2010 are crap as sensible soccer and kick off had better ball physics 20 years ago. PES 2010 was also created to run on PS2 as the only next gen thing about PES 2010 is the graphics. This is why PES 2010 and the PS2 is better than PS3.

Thought so. I believe the success of a through pass is random calculated by the comp. I find that MOST of the times a through pass goes kilometers ahead straight into the goal keeper area even if I'm close to the halfway line.

you can easily affect how your through pass is excecuted, when your target is starting to run towards opponents defense line, do the pass just before he run past the defender, if you use left foot to pass to the left side you will send the ball on the outside of the opponents defender, right foot to left side will pass it on the inside. One footed players with outside of the foot card will probably be more random.

Timing and posture affects the through pass.
