Tranfer/Contract Renewal help.

Hi, I'm on my 2nd season on ML with Aston Villa. During the January tranfer window. 3 of my best players asked me to Renew their contracts. I had to re negoatiate with them because they were simply asking for too much. Their contracts have been on hold since then but I'm wondering what will happen to them when its the summer window will they just leave or will they allow me to negotiate with them because I really do not want to lose them.:mellow:


Also one more question. Would you pay 16Mil for Ashavin if you was an Villa manager on ML???

players on mine either go to other clubs(if any others given them offers)
or become free agents,dont think you get chance to renew again after they put talks on hold

If they have quite a full heart next to their name, they will probably give you another chance at the beginning of the summer transfer window. You must have it sorted before the new season starts though.

If you want to keep them, you will have to play them in their correct positions every game and you might get lucky. Always best to tie your better players to a 5 year contract as soon as possible, much cheaper in the long run.

I agree. Best not to tinker too much with the contracts for your best players. You can afford to muck about with them for ones you're not too bothered about. I just went through contract renewals for my Div 2 side and had to accept higher wages for everyone concerned because I just couldn't sign anyone else half decent and was scared I'd lose half my team at the end of the season! I got what was a massive £3.5 mil offer for my top scorer but I just couldn't afford to take it.

It depends really. If you really want him go for it, but if you already have strikers you like then save the money for a position you need. £16 mil isn't bad for Arshavin. How much goals do your strikers have each and who are they? Compare what Arshavin has on goals and assists with your own striker, and see if he is worth it! That's my advice mate, hope it helps!

Well I got Agbonlahor and Soldado. Agbonlahor scored something like 35 goal in all cups and we're in march.(Its on professional yet we're still 5th in the league) but he might go because he has put his contract on hold.

I've accepted just in case. Arshavin is a utility player so that is cool for me.

The wages in this game are great, players become really expensive to keep. I don't think it would be possible to keep the same top class squad each season, the wages would crush you.

Gabby is on 8.5M per year for me (6th season), but he will ask for 15M once his contract is up... as that's what his value is. I wont be paying it I will however cash in on him and get hopefully around 75M for him.

Players aren't usually too negotiable on salary unless their affection for the club is REALLY strong. Most of the time, just pay them what they want, but either offer long contracts if they're fairly young, or play them a lot and try to flip them.

Reo and Gabby will both hit 90 ratings soon enough, both very good players. I sold Reo to Real Madrid for 60M, looks like Gabby will go on a free but not too bothered as I have 600M in the bank.

Hmm thats worrying to hear. I guess its the case when it hits summer and if he deceides to off as a free agent, I'm just going to have to re-sign him.....Even though I've just payed for Arshavin.

Very true thanks. Gabby is Villa's C.Ronaldo for me. I put him on the bench the other day to rest him and we was losing, by half time he came on n scored and i think I won that match.

I would def give Agbonlahor 3m if that is what he is asking for, just make sure to get him for 5 years, don't touch the wages. Remember, you have just paid 16 mil + wages for Arshavin who probably does't have many seasons left before his stats drop. Aggy will just get better and better and there is no transfer fee to pay to keep him.

All you can really do with wages is drop them 10% at best but any more is risky and not really worth it for your best players. You would have been better off just giving him his 3m and if it was too expensive for your club, sell him.
