i know this has been brought up before but im so fucked off with the players online that i need to post bout it lol

ive only played 6 games, and in those games ive been: tottenham, lyon three times, italy ad AC milan

apart from ac and italy i thought those teams wer pretty fair

but ive been against: barca, inter, man united, chelsea and fucking argentina

and the same tactis have been played by all of those teams, pass to the best player run down the wing, pass in front of goal and score.

and the lag, oh my days the fucking lag! one kid had a shot that was going wide but the lag put it in the goal? wtf!!

jesus christ i swear i hate online play! its so shit and unfair!

I've always thought of PES as more of a social, get friends round to play, sort of game. I can give them endless abuse if they use tactics like that with me!
If I do go online I'll only play unranked matches as either Reading or England now because they are who I support, and it's always very satisfying beating someone 4-3 as Reading against Brazil XD

lol yeah i prefer playing people in my living room, that way you know its gonna bea fair game and you can express your emotions to the person sitting next to you lol

The lag is abysmal, Konami better sort it.

But I've said this before, I don't see any complaint about how people play. IF they, say, had perfected the dive function and got penalties all the time just because they perfected the timing, maybe it's a bit annoying, but there is no way you can complain how else someone plays, well I mean if I played online I'm SURE I'd want everyone to try 30 yard shots and try quick passing that is easy to intercept, and they always try and beat players with their weakest player, but I think common sense dictates against that. How do you think Chelsea are in the Champions League semi-final?

If you'd like to play pretty football where trying to score isn't your main concern, buy FIFA Street (I think 1 is the best, but I ain't played 3 yet, that could be good.)

no dont get me wrong, obviously people have their own style of play and im ok with that. what im saying is that there isnt a 'style' because everybody does the same thing, i played 6 matches and every player did the exact same thing, you couldnt tell any difference.

While I am firmly in the belief that everyone should play as they wish and the way that gets the most goals is probably the one to use, I can imagine how it'd be monotonous. Then again I'd have thought it would make defending easy if you knew what was about to happen.

i understand what your saying mate, but when your using tottenham and have to defend against messi and etoo, it becomes so dammn annoying!

Don't worry - this time on next year's game, all the Barca players will be rubbish, if tonight is anything to go by.

With the lag its very difficult to play anything like you'r normal game.
Personally I like shooting from distance or volley/diving headers.

when you play the ranked games people change their style as they want the points. they should change the way points are awarded, like more points for long range goals, or volleys or points for posession and shots on target, instead of points for winning and losing. maybe even points for M.O.M.

i hate the cutback guys, but then again i love beating them, so satisfying.

Points for possesion? Ha then you'd have people timewasting from 00.00.

Points for good goals - maybe, but I have an inkling that the issue about people choosing Barca and Milan would be worse. Should be points based on the quality of the team you win with.

And cutbacks? Is that where someone is running down the line then changes direction? What a prick! I thought that PES1908 (sorry, 2008) was a game where you only ran in a straight line until you got tackled, then your next player tried it.

i rekon the points should b based on the team you use, lets say you use derby county and you beat barcalona, maybe you could get a maximum of 10 points or something, but if you were barca and beat derby county then you would only get a maximum of 3 or 5

Agree fully mate, it would make things more interesting at least.

It's why I stopped playing anonymous games online with 08, it's all about winning, which is fair enough but playing against Barca every game is not what I'm after. Play against people you know play to have a laugh, and not just to win.

yeah i get so fucked off when they always choose a big team. i was playing a friendly against someone online the other day, thinking that i would have a decent game against somebody who wasnt obsessed with winning. but no, some kid chose barca and just ran ran ran with messi  what ever happened to playing for the joy of it, i mean seriously what joy do you get by beating a low ranked team with someone as good as barca or AC? surely theres no glory in it, i mean what is ther to boast about. it just proves that none of the players that play that game have any clue about real football.(i mean the people im on about in this thread, not all people lol)

With, but the slightest bit of, research you might discover that the defensive AI is inept at dealing with even simplest attacking patterns. The biggest flaw is the continual misplacement of defenders when dealing with a player cutting in from the wing. Unfortunately I can not control all my defenders simultaneously and therefore have to rely on the AI to position those I am not in control of. In general play this can be overcome through careful movement of players, enabling you to defend the cut back with a greater deal of success.

Online however we have the issue of lag, this adds in a random error to all of your predictions which makes overcoming the poor AI significantly more difficult than it is offline. It is so bad in fact that if you set up your formation in a certain manner to maximise the number of cut back attempts you will get in a match, you will be almost guaranteed to score. In most online games using poor AI to give yourself an unfair advantage over the CPU challenge or a human opponent is called an 'exploit' and generally regarding as tantamount to cheating.

I have no problem with cut-backs in themselves, as they are part of football and fair percentage of goals are scored in this manner. I do however have a problem with people looking to score in only that way in order to exploit poor gameplay 'features' that are in fact mistakes by the developers. Cut-backs should happen in the game, however the AI should be able to deal with them with a far greater success rate than they currently do. Defenders will make mistakes and lose their positioning at times of course, they are unlikely however to make the same mistake, against the same attack constantly.

If people wish to play this way online then that's fair, they play the game to enjoy themselves. I will not however respect people who play as Inter/Barca and exploit the poor AI under laggy conditions and then consider themselves good at the game because in truth there is no skill involved in that method. With the right investment of time and effort, a trained chimpanzee could play the game with a similar level of success as the majority of online players that use that tactic.

I enjoyed reading that, ;)
perhaps people should could less points for winning with barcelona/man utd?

or maybe there could be some sort of handicap included in online play. im not sure what handicap but lets say you were besiktas against man utd, then maybe besiktas could have some sort of advantage or utd could have a handicap?

I always try to be fare when on-line. I wait to see who the other player chooses and then choose a similar team. The other week I played against some fool who duped me though. I chose Ghana then he changed his to fcukin Inter Milan (hate them). I some how got it to the end of the game at 2-2 (he was 2-0 up) then I kicked his @55 on pens.
