Ubisoft: Trailer for "Pure Futbol"

Sweey

*RETIRED*
The fifa fanatics will love it, not so for the pes fans though.

That's a silly statement.

Both games are poor this year (again) but for me FIFA is better than PES not least because I can actually pass it to the player I want to even if its unorthodox rather than PES thinking "nah, you want to pass it to THIS guy instead". There's no way I'm going to love this ridiculous game.

I really do get tired of the sweeping generalisations people make about fans of one game or the other. How about I make some sweeping generalisations about you?

"nah, you want to pass it to THIS guy instead".

Funny how I don't feel this at all when I play PES2010, but then again, I dribble way too much.

About the Ubisoft game, if anyone feel comfortable judging the game by that trailer then I will honestly say that those people are ignorant, judgmental and quite stupid. It may ofcourse happen that they get their assumptions right, but until a playable demo is available there is no way in hell anyone of you can say that this game sucks.

Personally I will wait with a small excitement and glimmer of hope that this game will be good, one way or another, to pass time until the next footy game comes along.

I know the coincidental occasion where I have replied to a second of your posts will not seem coincidental at first, but believe me, it's not me stalking you.

Companies make these trailers to be judged, often to hype up their game to make it look better, or simply because the in-game footage will simply not stand up to anything PES and FIFA have to offer. You're right at the same time, however, you can't judge until you play, but... You really have to make your game actually look enjoyable to play even if it is just CGI, in my opinion.

That said, looking good or bad, it may still be a good tactic. Out of everyone who has said it looks terrible, I think there's a suprising number of people who have already judged it still curious to play it, and may buy it in future.

Hey atleast we get 2 games to keep us occupied this summer until PES 11 comes out (World Cup 2010 official game and this game).

Man give the game a chance. It isn't even a gameplay trailer.
I actually liked fifa street. The first one is the best. It was addicting and a freestyling game. It was original. If this game is better than that, I'll get it, just to turn away when the football sims (fifa and pes) are making me angry because we all know how much AI cheating goes on in BOTH games.

There's nothing here to get excited about. I haven't seen the videos or read any of the bumf about it but I dont need to. The only thing I need to know is that it says Ubisoft :) Having experienced the buggy piles of horsesh*t this company churns out such as Silent Hunter II, III, IV and V among others, I can offer a sage piece of advice: Avoid anything with Ubisoft written on it liket he plague... they are WORSE than EA.

I happen to be a regular at subsim.com and Ubisoft is actually very good at providing a good basis for games, wich is easily modable, and I happened to love each and every single one of those four games you mentioned. Heavily modded ofcourse, but very good games in the end.

I'm currently enjoying SH5 at the moment, it's a diamond in the rough!
Those are "niche games" as well as any footy sim, anyone who don't like football or submarine warfare won't like the PES franchise or the Silent Hunter franchise.

Ah, the voice of reason in this forum... not based by this post alone, I've agreed so many times with you, or disagreed but seen your points as valid.
You deserve some kind of "medal" for always keeping your cool and being reasonable and well spoken imho.

I forgot to mention that I believe Ubisoft is intentionally releasing bugged games as a part of their "copy protection" campaign. Releasing a buggy game with a patch ready for download on release day makes all leaked and cracked versions of the game obsolete. By releasing a number of patches during the first few weeks makes it hard for the pirates to keep up the pace and if they can delay a proper, bug free, cracked game for a month, they sell notably more copies of that game wich equals more cash in the register... it's simple math.
I actually approve of this kind of anti piracy work, to a certain degree.

The alternate version (wich Ubi unfortunately also use on some games) of copy protection that require you to be online for playing single player games etc. is absolutely horrible. This type of protection actually promotes pirated copies, because even legal owners of the games gets so frustrated by the copy protection that they crack their legal games and make the crackers "fameous" by adding to the downloads of that particular crack wich again gives the crackers larger e-penis wich is basically the only reward they get (and want) for their work.

Thanks man.:)
I agree with you too on this one. All we need from this game is to have FUN (not necessarily realistic though) gameplay like fifa street had.
Oh and playability is really important like you mentioned. ;)

I'm intrigued. At 1st I was disappointed that it was 5v5 but afterwards it made sense since it's far too soon to directly compete with Fifa and Pes. This is a smart way to get their foot in the door and if the game has minor success it'll be a great foundation for a complete football sim next year.

Doesn't seem like it'll play anything like Fifa Street. To me it seems very skill based with very fast decision making required. Fast paced, high adrenaline football fun. There's nothing wrong with that concept. Even though there won't be refs, imo it still won't be a piece of cake to defend and will require some skill.

I won't be rushing to buy it but it's definitely worth a rental and if the game is well received and I like the demo I won't mind buying it. Hope they pull it off.
