i hope this is the right place to post this. i recently bought an adapter that allows me to use my playstation 2 controller on my computer. i have installed the latest drivers and in the game controllers section in windows xp (control panel), the controller is detected and is workin very well. when i start the game and i try to configure the buttons, i see my device, however, when i click on any button to change the button assignments, it changes to "Dial-". can somebody tell me if i am doing anything wrong?

Sounds like you have one of the http://www.mayflash.com/pc.htm adapters. Is it a Joybox/dualbox or whatever? What you need to do is go into the controllers section of control panel and turn off the pressure sensitive option. That should work as it worked on my Joybox 5. Oh and get the latest drivers from the link above.

the one i have is not the blue joybox but a red one called smartjoy dual plus. but i did see the setting to disable the pressure buttons but it still didn't work... the controller works for other NEW games like it works well with need for speed most wanted

Hmmm, I have another idea. Don't config the controller in the game. Try to do it in the "settings" program in the pro evolution soccer 5 folder in your start menu. If that doesnt work, I'm not sure what to tell you, sorry.

Yeh I've got one of these, the trick is to NOT install the software, unistall it and just plug in the adaptor it should work then mate.

the software for instance enables the rumble feature... i wouldn't mind getting something to do the rumble for me... while still having a "working adapter"

I have 3 usb adaptors for a PS2 controller and the play.com one is the worst of the lot for responding to button presses , even with the 2nd controller disabled . The best are either PS Joy or Super Joybox Pro .

Why dont you guys go and buy the Logitec Rumble pad 2 for pc.
It feels better than the ps2 controller, no adapters needed!

I did this some time ago but didn't like the control at all. It looks...but doesn't feel the same as the PS2 controller. And unlike you I didn't prefer the difference.
