Ive searched the forum to no avail so im gonna ask here. can anyone help me with a query? im thinkin of buyin a new laptop. My main pc is fine with pes6 on XP home and i would like to get a laptop that can run pes6 smoothly. The laptops im lookin at are dual core 1gb ram 256mb gfx card running windows vista. Does anyone know if pes6 works ok? ive heard that a lot of games dont work with windows vista and i dont want to fork out 800 quid for something i can use my games with! thanks for any advice on this

By the time PES7 comes around Vista should have seen at least one Service Pack similar to the two released for XP. I envisage relatively new games will be working perfectly on Vista by August.

EDIT: I've just checked. PES6 supposedly runs fine in the 32-bit version of Vista but has problems in the 64-bit version.

For details, it would be best for you to Google the subject. Basically, all motherboards these days are 64-bit. They can run both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of XP and Vista. However, the 64-bit version can have trouble with 32-bit software (i.e. games) and require additional drivers or such.

thanks, ive looked in google and i (think) what ive read talks about AMD processors running 32bit applications ok. Can i choose to get a laptop with either 32 or 64 bit vista? im tempted just to go for xp..........lol

If you want I can point you in the direction of a Vista theme. Make things look good while you wait for Vista to be more stable.

Sorry but PES6 does not work very well at all with Vista. Microsoft have taken away the ability to enable vertical Sync from the graphics driver (any make of card) and the screen tears all the time making the game very poor to play. (The is only on D3D games not openGL.)

Vsync can only be activated if the game itself offers the option in the menu. PES6 is D3d and has no in game vsync option in the menu. Hopefully Juce can add an option to enable this with future editions of kitserver, if not Vista users will have to wait for the next PES!

I now dual boot to XP just for PES6, which is a bit of pain.

finnaly i get why the heck my pes6 always has that weird lines..
I didn't check bout vista itself blocking vsync options, since the latest nvidia drivers have the option to force on/off, tho it makes no difference at all in the game. at least for me..
Maybe i'll go back to dual for a while.. getting tired of that weird thing..

Apart from that pes6 runs with no problems in vista.

Hmm.. so i booted my system in XP and forced VSync on, FPS went down, more than i'd expect.. worst than that is that the weird refreshing line is still there.. comes from bottom to top of the screen.. it's a bit anoying.. any ideas? btw my graphic card is a 6800GS, with the latest drivers installed.

^ you are lucky then, i get those lines like everyone else.
simple fact is not to upgrade to vista if you intend to play games.

not 100% sure but im pretty damn sure you can select individual options for applications with nvidia cards, and one of those options is vsync, im just installing pes6 now, got vista 64, so ill let you know soon

Ok got pes6 running, in game it seems like bad fps lag alot of the time, it settles down a bit but isnt great, im running a core2duo E6600, 2 gig ram and a 8800gts card so it isnt my setup, might be vista 64, running it under compatability mode xp sp2, admin and disable visual themes.

Wow, you got a HELL of a computer! If you have Windows XP, I guess it's better to install that until Windows Vista starts sorting out there problems. Just like Windows XP did at the beginning of that time.
