Ways to improve on PES 2010

A detail that needs improving:

- Give the ball more swerve. On free kicks, corners, and shots even, the ball just doesn't have enough swerve to it.

This, this, a million times this. While I enjoy master league, I loved creating my own 20-team MLS and editing all the teams and players. Makes absolutely no sense to be able to edit so many teams, but have no custom league to play them in.

Custom league & cup mode should be a must in PES2011. Why Konami removed this is best known to them, but it should be a basic option in any football game.

I want loads more real stadia, also.

-Make feints easier. As is they are way too hard and convoluted...

I just wanted to reemphasize this suggestion. The way it's set up now feints and tricks are more or less useless, and it really needs to be upgraded. When attempting a move using one of the analog sticks it is far more difficult than it should be.

As I suggested before, I think the feints should be mapped to the right analog stick, and limited to four stationary directions (up, down, right, and left). The L2 button could act as a modifier for the more difficult moves.

In other words the simple and more common moves would only require a quick flick on the right stick, regardless of which way the player was facing. While more complex moves would need to be performed by holding down the L2 button in combination with a movement on the right stick.

Having the moves always be the same regardless of which way the player is facing is absolutely paramount in my mind. In other words down on the right stick would always equate to a drag back, up would always be a step over, etc. The speed of the game makes doing it any other way a clumsy affair. If there is concern about overuse of these moves, limiting them to players with required abilities would help curb that.

Anyways, whatever way it is done, I think making feints and tricks easier is essential to helping improve PES. It would give the game a shot in the arm so to speak, it would give it that "wow factor" that it sometimes lacks, and it could be done in such a way as to still retain the simulation feel that PES is known for.

A cosmetic change I'd like to see, and one that seems totally feasible:

-Extend the end of the replays further to see more of the celebration. When you save a replay and watch it again it cuts off too soon, like pretty much right after the ball goes in the net. It looks sloppy this way, and I think it'd look a lot better if the replay kept going for at least a few more seconds.

I agree with this. Lacking a screenshot feature - although this was touted as part of the Live Facebook updated, but yet to show up - I like to take pictures of the screen with my camera and not getting the celebrations in the replay robs you of those 'snapshot' moments you see in the papers and magazines.

A few more things:

-Make passing more realistic. Passing is way too accurate, especially when a player is off balance or being pressured. Occasionally you will see errant passes, but there aren't enough of them. The end result is teams being able to pinball the ball around for minutes at a time, and this is not realistic. A player should lose accuracy when trying to make a difficult pass, and the defense should be rewarded for applying pressure appropriately.

-The difficulty levels needs to be tightened up. Anything below Pro is so easy it's not even worth a six year old's time. Pro is decent, but the AI doesn't attack enough. And Top Player gives lesser players on CPU controlled teams an unrealistic boost in speed and strength. The differences in difficulty levels should be about the decisions, approach, and the mental side of the game, not the physical.

-Third kits. Yes, third kits. Self-explanatory.

-Make defenders more aggressive. The back line plays the passing lanes too much and rarely goes in for a tackle. This makes shots from distance and crossing from the wing a bit too easy. It also means that there are pretty much no penalty kicks.

On a related note:

-Make midfielders and forwards less aggressive while on defense. It's almost like the level of aggressiveness has been switched, so that the further away from goal the more aggressive the computer AI is. In reality you should see pressure applied like this:

1. Forwards and Attacking Midfielders- They should press only when they see a good opportunity to cause an errant pass and make things uneasy for the defense. Other than that they should conserve energy.

2. Midfielders- They should be aggressive but not to the point of diving in at the ball on every opportunity. Instead they should be smart about pressing, finding a balance between playing the lanes and going in for the tackle.

3. Defenders- They are the last line before the keeper, so therefore there needs to be a sense of urgency when trying to disrupt the offense. This means hard tackles (including sliding ones) when an offensive player gains a slight advantage, more of a willingness to close down on offensive players, and yet also a certain level of intelligence about when to press so as not to expose a gap in the defense.

my dream improvment would be an unlicensed second english division. i love the master league but it takes more time setting up when you have to edit everything first.

i dont mind doing the teams but the player take too long, if they were already there it would take weeks off the editing time.

On a related note:

-Make midfielders and forwards less aggressive...

I just updated this, to make it more clear... I meant less aggressive on defense.

Though I suppose that brings up another issue, which I'm surprised I haven't mentioned up to this point:

-Make the CPU offense more willing to attack, and more varied when it does. Even on Top Player it's too easy to keep the CPU shot totals down. They back pass way too much and never really feel like a strategic threat. In fact on Top Player they only really feel like a threat because of the stat boost that comes on that level, which will have mediocre dribblers magically warp through better defensive players.

Fix the idiot referee. I am being hacked down so many times from behind but no red card and penalty and besides that an obvious goal opportunity.
This can happen up til 3 times in a game and if the opponent scores a lucky goal then you are really "dekcuf".

I have been playing this game sinces PES 1 and i love the game cause its realistic.

And do implement World Cup qualifiers.

-Global "Team Styles" editor. As noted by a thread I started (LINK) in the main discussion forum, I have found that adjusting team styles is useful for making the game play a bit better. Going through each team to make these adjustments is a pain in the rear. It would be great to have a global editor for these, so we could for example raise the "Pressing" setting for all, or some, of the teams.

Along these same lines I suggest:

-A comprehensive Global Player Editor. This would allow users to iron out any wrinkles that exist in the AI. It could be set up to augment that stats of players when a game is played, in any mode. And this is the key... Any mode. In other words, make this editor effect the game on the pitch, and not the edit file. If it effected only the edit file, then once a Master League was started any new players would still have the AI defects that exist as the default.

I can tell you right now, now matter how much you try to get things right in regards to the AI, you're probably going to come up short. Now I'm not saying there shouldn't be an attempt to get the game to play as well as it can... I'm saying, why not give the user the ability to tweak things as they see fit.

This editor could be done by letting users choose a position, or multiple positions, and then choosing the stat they want to see effected... And then giving them a slider that would change that stat by a percentage, and also the ability to have a minimum and maximum for that stat.

Example:

You want the side midfielders in the game to be a little more aggressive. You use the editor, select the side midfielders, and raise their aggression by 25%. You also put a maximum at 92 because you feel anything over that amount is too much.

Considering PES relies heavily on user created files, an editor like this could have a dramatic effect on the PES series.

I have been playing PES since the beginning and only PES.

The refs and penalties should be fixed - not in PES 2011 but in a patch.
World Cup qualifiers
Customizable camera - Konami buy a copi of EAs World Cup game and just copy it.
Better attacking AI
Improved gameplay.
I think it was in PES 8 where there was a shit turff where my eyes nearly got sick and i still see that turff in PES2010 not as bad though just remove it.
Classic teams where is Pele. Classic teams should be the best of the best of all generations. I know that most kids on PES dont know Socrates, Pele, Jairzinho, Clodoaldo, Careca, Eder, Zico, Falcao, Josimar (not a legend but how about a goal he scored against Northern Ireland in 1986).

It's been mentioned a few times on a few threads and I know in the grand scheme of things it's fairly trivial, and don't get me wrong I'd take improved gameplay over this, but let's have the netting sorted out eh?

I'm not sure why since the move over to the 360 we've had to put up with this one-size-fits-all net design, but was it just me or when on some of the older games you played in a French stadium and all the netting was green just like in many Ligue 1 games, or somewhere like Anfield that had the exact same type of netting as the real-life stadium does, did it not highten the sense of realism just an extra notch?

As I said, it's a minor point and I don't expect any improvement on it, but I was a big fan of that feature.

PLUSSSSS.... i don't know how to say it actually .. when u press L2 and O,X, triangle or the square ... we can fix it in the tactics or strategy i don't really remember .. anyhow when i choose custom formation and i do the whole formation i want... then i save everything or copy data ... everything is saved ... but the formation INSIDE the strategy does not save...!!

So much talk, but nobody ask for the basics like fixing the damn keepers. They are too DUMB.KONAMI is developing football games for many years and I see no difference between PES 2010's goalkeepers and ISS's goalkeepers, fuckin SHAME,SHAME,SHAME...If this year they won't make the keepers act like some real keepers and not like dumb monkyes, then bye bye to this fucked up game.I can't play this dumb game anymore,it's ridicolous.
So I ask forum owners to tell KONAMI developers to work at this chapter and I hope I'm not ignored, because this is one of the most important thing.

You are wrong man!!!!!
Konami made ISS keepers really great
ISS keepers - GOOD
PES 4 - SOLID
PES 5 - SUPERB (like to good, and it is great)
PES 6 - Stupid people with gloves:loopy:
PES 2008 -: no words really no words
PES 2009 - Mentally disordered people on drugs :nath:
PES 2010 - "on" and "off" retarded people :thud:

Well a think that one of major problems for keepers in PES 2010 is that every ball goes to fast and to low to the ground!!! And the ball looks like way to heavier than it should be.

Keeper react with bad timing. Sometimes they react when the ball is almost at the goal line and it`s too late!!!

- Better use of long passes / high passes. Playing the PES series for more then 10 years against many opponents of different play styles, I have come to notice that high passes or long passes are rarely being played to good use in the game. The fact that the difference in perspective of a gamer and a real football player kicking the real ball on the pitch makes a major difference too on the decision of making passes. In PES or I should say soccer games, the low pass is way too favourable an option to make a pass and this is especially true if the player has a good skill in ball control. It's a different story on the pitch as a player when factors such as fatigue, lack of quality midfielders, more quality in forwards then midfielders, coach's instruction, tall hunky strikers that has higher chances of receiving long passes...etc...etc can influence the passing decision of a player. Afterall, why would I want to risk losing possession with a long pass when I know the ball will almost always reach my targetted team mate with low passes. I wouldn't expect a revolutionary change on the passing system but would like to see something done to invite more variation in the passing aspect of the game.

More realistic shoots Almost every time players are shooting grounded balls (along the ground), sometimes even when shooting bar is filed almost to the top. It`s no wonder why GKs are "running wild"
