I also try to use swap magic with we9 (unpatch) and I got a blank screen also. I guess we9 wouldn't work with swap magic. I may try to patch it and see if it works with patch.

If you can't get the original game to work then I don't think that is a good sign. Hopefully someone else who uses this method to play their game will be able to help.

My friend is happily playing patched WE9 using the slide-card/Swap Magic system. No problem. it's not even the lastest Swap Magic discs but it works a treat.

Check your burn method.

The friend I mentioned in my previous post uses Swap Magic 2.0 DVD disc without any problems. I am unsure as to if AR2 will do it for you.

Same here. I've got SM 2.0 and I've been happily playing a patched backup of WE9 all day.

*EDIT* Hi, by the way. :D

I used to use ar2v2 method of booting we/pro evo series game before with no problem. i have neo2.5 (AKA Xkey) i had no success booting we9 and we8le i used cd versions and dvd version used different media tried everything notin worked. I used to get black screen like u but i bought swap magic 3.6 with slide card and now i have to problem booting we9 or anyother game. I think neo 2.5 or which ever chip u use to boot the game using ar2v2 won't work so my advice to u is get swap magic 3.6 and enjoy the game.

I've been having similar problems with Swap Magic 2.0 DVD for back-ups of WE9 and a patched version of WE8LE. On a very early version PS2, got re-conditioned from Sony 18 months ago.

There is a double-swap method that would occasionally recognise and load the games using the Swap Magic 3.0 CD:

From a Q&A at http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/82118

To use the Swap Magic CD to boot DVD Games Do the Following:
a. Eject the CD tray and insert the Swap Magic CD Disc.
b. Reset your PS2 and wait till Swap Magic loads Up.
c. When you see the Swap Magic Screen that says "Load Game" along with the video settings (PAL or NTSC), eject the PS2 cd tray, the screen will now say "Refresh TOC", take out the Swap Magic CD.
d. Insert a PS2 DVD Original Game (Silver Bottom, non-import) With a High TOC (you check your ps2 games on the computer and see which is the biggest in size)
e. After it goes back to the Swap Magic Screen, open the Flip Top Cover/use the Slide Card, and insert the DVD Backup, After This The screen should turn red and the game will start.

I posted some other swap magic suggestions at Evo-web.

I updated to Swap Magic 3.6 anyway, and having had some initial success it won't recognise back-ups at all (originals are fine). I'm sick of the console, swap discs and re-starting. Maybe the console is worn out by it too?

What do people reckon is the best move - replace the console with Sony (who'll provide only the same early version) and carry on with Swap Magic. Or get that modded?

To try to salvage an old console with service/repairs, or pay for an easy life and buy pre-modded console - if available around London/S.East?

Swap Magic 3

Has anyone managed to rip the original WE9 DVD onto a CD and managed to get it working with Swap Magic 3 (the CD Version)?

I haven't tried it myself as I don't want to be wasting blank CDs. And besides, I don't have a DVD-ReWriter (yet).

I've been looking at the WE9 Rip Kit thread and it says there that the ISO created from the rip kit is around 650 Mb. I don't think that Swap Magic 3 will boot up a DVD-Rip (on a CD) that has a TOC that's higher than 632 Mb.

That's about as much as I know about my version of Swap Magic.

But, if anyone can get this game to work with Swap Magic 3 (on a CD), then can you post what programs you used, what burn method and booting method you used etc, etc.

Thanks.

I have sucessfully burnt we9 (jap) version by:

1. create iso using dvd decrypter (mode>iso>read) and burn to a folder of your choice.
2. added fernando v4 patch using ppfomatic3 (not necessary if you can read japanese!)
3. burn iso image using dvd decrypter (mode>iso>write)

and voila! it worked using swap magic and slide tool.

Yes it is. I have had no problems so far with this swap disk.

Ko_nami you need to use good quality dvds when you rip and apparently burn at slow speeds to save ps2's laser - which may be celini's problem?
