WF's vs SS's ????

i tend to use wf when playing with three up front one on either side of a big center half like adriano get them to hug the touch lines and get the crosses in problem is they hardly ever get a sniff of goal playing this way.
if i play 4-4-2 i use one of the strikers as a ss to drop back and help with attacking build up play it also gives them more room to turn and shoot, i find the draw back to this is that playing quick through balls to them on the break dont work as they generaly have their back to goal al la bergkamp so cant run onto the through ball.

I'd assume WFs usually stay wider than SSs.

Yeah. When you edit a players position, you can see the specific sections designated for CF/SS/WF.

There's nothing particularly obvious in how the roles differ. That is to say, by changing a players role isn't as influential as changing that players position or individual tactics. Maybe it does make a difference but it's so subtle and well-coded that you don't notice.

SS pro's: Drops deep allowing the ball to be picked up and supplied to CF or WF. Can drag defenders out of defence creating space.
SS con's: Deep sitting midfielders can get in the SS's way. Can leave CF isolated.

WF pro's: Gives good width and stretches defences. Great for fast-paced counter-attacks. Useful if you have a commanding post player.
WF con's: Less useful against teams sitting deep. Leaves CF isolated.

I'd be very glad to put in my opinion.

I think that SS is shit! They don't know whether to be strikers or midfielders and end up getting lost no no mans land. Not there for the crosses and tap ins and through-balls. Whilst not deep enough to defend to find that elusive space in the hole that a good AMF like Kaka will always find.

WF on the other hand are deadly, put a H.Kewell (5 years ago) or a Messi today in that position and there is huge space for crosses and runs and an out-let for counter-attacks!!

kk i feel better.

WF's - Useful for cutting inside the box to get a cross/shot in. I love to play this way (With 1 AMF) so then my AMF can give a through ball for the WF's to pounce on. Really useful.
SS's - To support the main striker. Useful for pouncing on them lose balls and also useful for scoring goals. Can go more deeper into the midfield without harming the team too much.

I myself prefer WF's.

I know what you guys mean but in WE10/PES6, put Rooney at SS and he can terrorise the opposition even more than Ronaldinho.

You'll see what I mean in a few weeks :)

I tend to prefer WF's and a good system to play is to put a left-footer on the right and vise-versa, if you have a good passer in midfield this can terrorise the defence, as for SS's, I rarely play with one, so I can't really give my opinions
