Hi guys, I recently dug out 2012 and downloaded and updated with latest patches. I hated the game when it came out, thought I'd give it another go. Its still sh*t.
Defending is a complete and utter joke in this game. Before anyone starts jumping in saying 'oh your just crap at the game'. Player ability has nothing to do with the following:
1. AI players do not keep shape or position. Its not just one or two either its the whole team - how often do you get LB's at RB for example? I had a corner in one game, and the AI had Defoe as a defender(!?)
2. AI team mates do not pick up strikers - once or twice is realistic, but constantly getting caught out is a joke.
3. AI defenders often bump into each other - even when there is no reason for it. Total crap.
4. GK's are still completely hopeless.
5. Players do NOT do simple basic, realistic tackles. Just stick your damn leg out you moron!
Other flaws:
Shooting is a joke.
Scripting is rampant and beyond rediculous.
Attacking play is great -shooting, but the rest of the game is a step backwards yet again. Typical Konami: Fix one thing, then break something else. Still, gives them a reason to sell next years version right? Bollocks.
Master League: Cut scene after cut scene, poorly translated text.
Adding managers/boards/sacking etc, fine, I can see why people would want that, but why take out the option to control the whole club like in past versions?
Not to mention technical issues with hanging and sped up cut scenes during matches. Also in-game lighting is wrong again - if the shaded areas were any darker you'd need NVG's to see your own damn players.
Konami's total and utter lack of attention to detail year after year beggars belief.
Its not just PES/Konami either. FIFA 12 is shite and only has 15 seasons, FM2012's match engine is broken and all of the players are manic depressive schizoids.
I am starting to think I will be playing FM2011 for the rest of my life, as there hasn't been one 9/10 football game made apart from this for nearly 5-6 years.
The football sim is getting stale, needs fresh blood and new companies.
I really used to like PES, and to be honest I'm not really angry any more, worse, I'm just tired of their half assed annual efforts and their pathetic excuses. I just can't really be bothered with it anymore.
