Slightly O/T, but can anyone tell a PC thicko how to check his PC specs, and what the recommended specs are to play PC version without any shite? Me PC is only just over a year old, but I only use it for the internet, music and Footy Manager.

Can't give enough indication on specs as mine are probably OTT. To check your system, go to the Start Menu, click Run, type dxdiag and press ENTER. I can guess you'd likely need 1GB RAM and a 2Ghz processor.

8800GTX owns u all

+ 3.6 ghz core 2 duo OC

An 8800GTX is a waste of money if you are not playing at a resolution HIGHER than 1680x1050 so in fairness, I own you by having spent a lot less money for the same sort of performance. An 8800GTX would have been a waste of money for me. As for an overclocked 3.6Ghz Core 2 Duo, a fair few people have those (myself and PacMan for example), just probably not many on this forum.

i got none i spent 3 grand just on parts for my new pc

:shocking: I spent just under £1,300 and I've got a 22-inch widescreen (Samsung 226BW), 640MB 8800GTS, Asus P5K Deluxe, E6750, 4GB RAM (5300 overclocked to 6400), five fans, fan controller, state-of-the-art case, three hard drives and two optical drives. For the amount you've spent I'd want two 8800GTXs, two quad-cores, 8GB RAM and some ridiculously fancy flashing lights which get more intensive just before my computer takes off into space.

What drivers do you use username0?

I have an 8800GTX and I have this stupid runtime error which is pissing me off to the max! I'm wondering if its the drivers I have for the card.

LOL wtf?? a waste.... the 8800gts are the waste there performance is useless for the price tag. Stay away from the GS or GTS flags.

THe 8800gtx runs my 1680x1050 on all games INCLUDING crysis.
I bought it becuase i wanted th best i could get without buying the ultra because its just OC and too expensive. I would recommend the GTX to anyone its totally worth the money.

the 8800GT will own all its better than the GTS its been proven an nearly as good as the GTX but for half the money! came out today so i'll be getting one soon hopefully. The 256mb will be better than the 8800GTS 320mb version. if you dont believe me look at the benchmarks.

Benchmarks are nothing to go by. Everyone has different setups.

If someone had a crappy PC say... Pentium 1, 256mb and a 8800GT. Then another person had say... Intel quad core, 4gb and a 8800GT, will you expect the same Benchmarks?

Benchmarks don't just come from the graphics card, its the whole system. ;)

well generally they perform better. i will be getting a 8800GT as its cheaper than the GTX and comparable to the GTS you only need a GTX for widescreen resolutions.

ASUS GF 7900GTX 512MB

Cost me £320 a while ago, does the job

although can be a bit glitchy, at times though i think thats down to the game being poorly made

Lol! GTX is ONLY for widescreen resolutions??? I have no idea where your getting that information from matey, but its bull lol...

I agree that the GT is better than the GTS, but overall the GTX is far more powerful than both of them. ;)

Ever wondered why the GTX requires 2 power connectors, unlike the GT/GTS, they only need 1? The GTX is the mother of all cards. ;)

This could get a lot more technical, but there's really no point. :)

GTX owns 2 GTS easily. The pixes per second is hugely improved.

I had 2 7900GTX sli and it was owned by my GTX when i got it.

I run on hi res but the GTX is pure gaming machine its not just for widescreen.

There, it's a waste. The GTX is only needed for resolutions above 1680x1050. You appear to have missed the point from my post. THe 640MB GTS is perfect for resolutions up to 1680x1050 and you're an absolute idiot if you use a 24-inch screen and DON'T use its native resolution which is in excess of 1680x1050. Why would you want to get a screen capable of the higher resolution only to use it at the same resolution as a 20-inch and 22-inch screen?? Even more so when you've got a GTX which is overkill UNLESS you game in excess of 1680x1050. You paid enough money for what you've got, use it.

Crysis isn't the be all and end all of games or supreme benchmark tester.

exactly what i was saying why do you need 4000 x 3000 or something ridculous. if you've only got a 19inch screen the highest i go up to is 1280 x 1024.
